MORE INFO ON UPSTATE EVENT …
|| By FITSNEWS || A few weeks ago we posted an item on our calendar about the “Palmetto Panel,” a day-long citizen-led (i.e. sponsor-free) gathering focused on a wide range of policy issues.
We noted event attendees would receive “information on topics such as health care, education, energy, finances, ethics, protecting South Carolina’s electrical grid and more.”
We’ve now got some additional information on the event – which is being held this weekend (Saturday, April 18) at the Madren Conference Center on the campus of Clemson University.
Speaking at the event will be Ambassador Henry Cooper, former director of the Pentagon’s Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) – or “Star Wars.” Currently the chairman of a pro-missile defense group called High Frontier, Cooper will discuss “solutions which exist to (South Carolina’s) electric grid vulnerabilities” as well as ways to harness “our nuclear energy to help bring the electric grid for the rest of the state and country back up.”
Also appearing? U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan – who will address the current debate over offshore drilling.
State Senators Lee Bright and Kevin Bryant will also attend and address various state issues – as will S.C. Rep. Jonathon Hill.
Numerous activists and policy experts will also appear, including Talbert Black (leader of the S.C. Campaign for Liberty), Ashley Landess (president of the S.C. Policy Council), Sheri Few (who is organizing opposition to Common Core), Dan Tripp (a nationally renowned campaign manager), Ellen Weaver (director of the Palmetto Policy Forum),
The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $35, which includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.
The group will have hotel rooms reserved for those wishing to stay overnight and attend training sessions the following day (Sunday April 19, 2015). Those sessions will be held at nearby Lake Keowee.
Event organizers say this year’s event hopes to draw a geographically diverse crowd from all corners of the state, enabling attendees to “take this information back into their communities.”

I did not even read the entire article. I have emails with a long history of those in charge of Clemson. I don’t want to make them public, though I did make a veiled thought I might.
I love Clemson University. I also love USC. So I can only base my opinions on dealing with both. Clemson is a snotty ass school with a snotty ass bunch of professors, who profess to be professors, but do nothing to help. I have gone up the entire chain – it’s a revolving effing door. If you want me to name names – I might in the very near future. My biggest bitch is advisement. NO ONE seems capable of answering that question even when I’m effing paying for it.
Just look at Dr. Caywood.
Name names liar or shut up!!!
FITS, If you want to know something about Clemson, try to contact Dr. Caywood. Best of luck. You might reach him initially, but try follow up. When I first met him, I pegged him for what he was – a narcissist, who doesn’t give a care. He only cares when pressure is applied and he is an advisor?
Do you mean “Cawood”, math prof?
Yes.
Sounds like you could just watch Fake News or listen to rush or Beck and save the price of a ticket and hotel room. Another teanut echo chamber meeting.
“Another teanut echo chamber meeting.”
Perfect!
Dan Tripp is a nationally renowned campaign manager??? I only knew him as a guy who was banging everybody but his wife while he was misrepresenting Mauldin in the SC House.
I dont see how you can say its sponsor free when politicians and lobbyist will be there. They should have to wear patches sewed into their suits
Because no sponsors or lobbyists gave them any money. They’re putting this event on at their own expense.
It’s absurd to assert that not a single one of those people speaking get money from big corporations to espouse the causes they do. In fact, some of them make so much they don’t even have to write off expenses for their appearance at the event on their taxes.
Sheri Few, enough said. She’s nuttier than a fruit cake.
Too true.
Dont you love how the radicals scurry around trying to cover up their own shit? “Citizen-led”….yea right…whats even funnier is how the brainless wonders who pander to this site and to the politicians supposedly “paying” for this event buy into the crap.
Why dont you call up clemson and see if you can rent the madren center for a day. Then look at lee bright and see him paying a dime. Hell..he cant even pay his own bills. Of course, thats why you elected him , right? cause he provides such a sterling example of how the far right can manage and govern.
Who is coordinating this? arranging for meals….”snacks”….handling all the paperwork??
More “citizens”??? Yea, like sherry few is sitting at her kitchen table as we speak helping to make arrangements.
Want more fun??…see who all will be playing golf before, during and after this “citizen led” event. Yea…all these blue collar citizens that are trying to take back America….guess again…
more like wealthy lobbyists and PAC leaders who are (as always) calling the shots for the right wing..
There are several “grass roots” organizations that are being paid to make sure this event happens. Kerry Wood and his ilk collect the money, they make sure the message is taught like it is the gospel, then they scatter to the winds.
The web site leaves no clues about the money, or entities involved.
Modern day politics is crooked as hell. Kooks like Kerry Wood launders the cash and all is hush hush. Just like it never happened.
“State Senators Lee Bright and Kevin Bryant will also attend and address various state issues”
The mind boggles.
Why don’t they start with simpler topics, like fixing the roads and improving the schools? The state can’t even handle those.
