|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. Rep. Leon Stavrinakis – known affectionally around the Palmetto State House as “short stack” – has raised some big stacks of cash in his bid to become mayor of Charleston, S.C.
The fifth-term state lawmaker raised $309,000 during the first quarter of 2015, according to a release from his campaign. He has more than $266,000 on hand.
“People are looking for a mayoral candidate who has a vision to lead Charleston into the future,” Stavrinakis said in a statement accompanying his fundraising announcement. “I’m the only candidate to serve as chairman of Charleston county council and in the state legislature and I’m the only candidate with a proven record of bringing people together and getting results.”
Also seeking this post? Ginny Deerin – who recently ran for S.C. Secretary of State. Wealthy Charleston businessmen John Tecklenburg is also running – as are city councilman William Dudley Gregorie and former city councilman Paul Tinkler.
Last week, Deerin reported raising $215,000 with more than $188,000 on hand.
Joe Riley has served as Charleston’s mayor since December 1975. The 72-year-old politician announced last year he would step down at the end of this – his tenth term.

Any politician raise tons of money if he/she is wiling to sell her soul.
All it takes to be successful in politics is the willingness to lie and the ability to convince “the people” of your lies.
They are skills that most successfully elected have in excess, and also some of the worst traits imaginable for true leadership.
