|| By FITSNEWS || Spartanburg County (S.C.) sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man who allegedly pulled a gun on them as they aided the service of a narcotics warrant, multiple Upstate media outlets are reporting.

The names and ethnicities of the officers involved – and of the deceased – have yet to be revealed.

The incident – which went down at around 10:00 a.m. EDT in Boiling Springs, S.C. – comes amid international outcry over the fatal shooting of a 50-year-old black man by a white police officer following a traffic stop in North Charleston, S.C.

In that case, the official narrative offered by law enforcement turned out to be thoroughly misleading and – at times – outright dishonest.  And the narrative would likely have stood were it not for the release of an amateur video depicting the shooting.

So … what happened in the Spartanburg case?

A Spartanburg Sheriff’s spokesman told WYFF TV 4 (NBC -Greenville, S.C.) that the suspect “grabbed a gun off the top of the refrigerator and pointed it at the traffic deputies,” who had arrived on the scene to assist the narcotics officers after the suspect reportedly became “belligerent.”

“Our officers followed the letter of the law,” Spartanburg sheriff Chuck Wright told reporters.  “They did their job.”

The S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) – which is currently probing the North Charleston shooting – has opened an investigation into the Spartanburg shooting, too.

UPDATE: Deceased was white, as was the cop who pulled the trigger.

From the way SLED has been totally inept with the SC DOR hacking investigation (TWO FUCKING YEARS and NO DETAILS = WTF?????) and the North Charleston investigation (IF the video had not been taken the whole thing would have been swept under the rug by the almighty SLED = “nothing to see here, move along”), SLED has zero credibility and needs to be disbanded.

Liar. While it might have taken longer to make the arrest, it is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that the officer’s statement was suspect BEFORE the video came out. The video just made things easier and quicker.

SLED is inept and should be disbanded – plain and simple

so they were supposed to know before the video even came out exactly what happened on the video? you are an idiot that only wants to bitch on here. go cry to your mommy

Wouldn’t have taken long even without the video, eight rounds to the back doesn’t fit his “took-my-taser-shot-him-in-self-defense” narrative.

Serious question, Is SLED good at anything?

Is there lab good, and honest?
Are they decent investigators when no political pressure exists one way or the other?

I’m seriously trying to remember the last time I heard anything good about SLED. Seems the past few years it has been nothing but adultery and cronyism. When was the last time they made positive headlines? How can Mark Keel be only the third person to be in charge of SLED? Were the other two there for life?

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 8:16 pm

LOL – great question!

sparklecity April 9, 2015 at 10:31 pm

From what I’ve seen lately, SLED is a waste of taxpayer money
A lot of SLED’s budget is “dark star” funding anyway.
Time for that impotent agency to be defunded and shut down

What’s there to investigate, Dumb@$$???…there are no victims that I heard of in the DOR hack.

Aside from that: the state of SC paid for 2 years of ID protection for me and my family. Pretty D*#n nice to get back some of the tax money I pay…I’d say…instead of doling it out to the same old incompetent, Lazy-@$$ TAKERS, like you…

SLED is not an arm of the DNC, as idiots like you want them to be…

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 3:16 pm

No victims of DOR hack? Somehow my husband’s debit card was used twice in CA. Was it related to DOR hack? No real idea, but to say there are no victims is a stretch at minimum.

Two years of ID Protection, that can’t protect you.

GrandTango April 9, 2015 at 3:36 pm

It’s just a VERY flimsy claim…and it makes you look to be pandering to the Dumb@$$#$ who hoped to ride Hacking to the Governor’s Mansion…

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 3:43 pm

That’s your opinion, in no way reflective of my statement. They would have been better off to say, “sorry guys, someone hacked our system because we didn’t take the precautions that were recommended, no free ID protection.”

GrandTango April 9, 2015 at 5:07 pm

Thanks for saying that. It’s why I’m glad you’re not running the system. You’d make a bad situation WORSE…

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 5:19 pm

No, had I been running the system, chances are it wouldn’t have been hacked. Not due to any intelligence on my part other than knowing where to find it and listening to sound advice.

GrandTango April 9, 2015 at 5:24 pm

I know…you and FITS – and only you two- are PERFECT…despite the fact you lead us to the most-failed MoFos in the history of our country…and then cut and run after the crime…LMAO…

sparklecity April 9, 2015 at 6:38 pm

And i say this with all seriousness that IF you WERE the head of SLED you would have given the public a progress report on the hacking way before two FUCKING YEARS has passed.
I sure as hell know I would have.
The individuals and businesses in South Carolina (plus others from out of state who are required under PENALTY OF LAW to file and have had their identies compromised by a state agency that has the power to ARREST YOU if you don’t file) deserve to know how the “investigation’ is progressing.
If you are a victum of a crime you have the right to file and be advised of the progress of the investigation – TWO FUCKING YEARS and NADA
Big Bad SLED ain’t done shit on this so yes they need to be disbanded let alone all the other fuck-ups they dare not let us know about..

We fulfilled our responsibilities(under threat of prosecution I might add) SLED needs to get off its ass and do its part.

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 6:55 pm

There is no progress, is my opinion. If they had followed advice of a former employee (can’t recall name this is all of the top of my head, so fact check), but had they heeded advice, taken precautionary steps, it might not have happened.

Once someone hacks your DOR, very hard to track and when they do, they aren’t likely to give that information up. It is beyond the scope of SLED is my belief. SLED could not figure that out. It’s one of those government entities that everyone hates, who has the ability to actually track down the hacker.

Not sure we hit their radar :)

sparklecity April 9, 2015 at 10:27 pm

If SLED & SC DOR can’t give citizens who DESERVE an answer can’t produce the goods then that tells you how impotent they really are.
They are only fit for going after small fish and if that’s the case there is no reason for them to be an organization and should be disbanded.
Basicially what you are saying is that SLED and SC DOR are paper tigers.

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 3:22 pm

Spartanburg is ripe for crime, just look up the statistics. They are at the top of the list for violent crimes, if not the top. Greenville seems to be creeping up as well. Is it the police or the people?

I don’t really know, I do know in Greenville they have these ridiculous/random road blocks where people get tickets for almost any reason. They even take away knives that are legal to carry, but during a routine stop, they can confiscate them because they were afraid you might use a knife? And never return them.

I guess the forces need funding. There are some good cops out there, but it is my strong opinion that 30% or less really give a care. They are grossly underpaid and undereducated.

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 3:34 pm

No, actually there are some good cops out there I said. I’ll give you an example of a good cop. We moved over the past couple years, were up late putting crap away. We live on appx 40 acres and our house sits back about a 1/4 mile from side road.

It was roughly 12:30 – 1:00 a.m. I wasn’t wearing my glasses which means things are distorted after dark. Me, hubby and 5 year old were taking a break on lower deck when I saw headlights and what appeared to be a spot light. I asked my husband to look because I didn’t have glasses with me.

He starts walking around the side of house, I asked what was going on, all I could hear was mumbling. I grabbed my daughter, ran upstairs, put her in the bedroom, grabbed a Gloc I had never even fired and told her not come out.

Ran to the front door point a gun (little did I know I didn’t even have a bullet in the chamber) and I see the Sheriff’s office. It scared me because it was a cop for all intent and purposes. Next, I try to release the magazine, but was apparently waving the gun in their direction. I heard, “don’t point that at me.” I quickly said, “I am sorry, I am just trying to take out the magazine” and my husband suggested I just lay it down.

The officer was incredibly nice and I had a gun range put out back so that I could remember how to actually load, shoot and practice gun safety.

The officer could have been an ass, hell he could have shot me? But he wasn’t. However, this isn’t Greenville or Spartanburg.

Pineapple Twist April 9, 2015 at 3:35 pm

BTW the reason the officer was on our property so late, someone had reported a couple druggies/thieves on the loose and supposedly they were hiding in the corner of our property.

Cliché – an expression, idea, or element of an artistic work which has become overused to the point of losing its original meaning or effect, even to the point of being trite or irritating, especially when at some earlier time it was considered meaningful or novel.

The only Cliche I see around here is you. Every regular here knows exactly what you are going to say before you post it. Liberal…blah…cop hating…blah..cliche…blah…Obama…Republican…America is Dead if…Hillary..Blah blah blah.

I assume that at some earlier time you were once added something to the conversation and maybe were even novel and interesting. Now you’re the cliche, you are the worst of what the Republican party has to offer, you and your ilk caused Obama, Clinton, Reid, and so on. You sir are the problem with America. You are the most hackneyed cliche in America politics.

!!!!!
Sometimes 5 miles outside of the town limits at that (including the stretch of I-85 from SC 101 all the way to SC 129!!!)
For such dinky townships they’ve got first rate vehicles including spiffy unmarked/blacked out windowed F-150 trucks.
it AIN”T all grant money either. mostly from siezures on I-85 and a shitload of ticketing out of the town limits!!!
Them SOB’s don’t need additional funding—–it’s the biggest shell game and slop trough you can find. Forget about even having an honest audit of ANY small town cop force in the Great state of South Carolina
