SENATOR SEEKS TO BUILD ON MOMENTUM FROM ANNOUNCEMENT
|| By FITSNEWS || U.S. Senator Ted Cruz is back in the Palmetto State this weekend, ostensibly looking to shore up support in advance of next week’s big presidential announcement from U.S. Senator Rand Paul.
The Texas Senator and Tea Party favorite is make several stops in early voting South Carolina – including an iconic Upstate destination.
Cruz will visit The Beacon restaurant in Spartanburg, S.C. this afternoon (Friday, April 3) at 4:15 p.m. EDT – participating in a Spartanburg County GOP town hall meeting. From there, he will travel to Greenville, S.C. – where he will address a GOP women’s group at The Poinsett Club at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
On Saturday (April 4), Cruz will travel to Columbia, S.C. for an early (11:30 a.m. EDT) lunch at Palmetto Pig BBQ located in downtown Columbia, S.C. From there, he’ll travel to Aiken, S.C. for a 3:30 p.m. EDT meeting at Newberry Hall with local Republicans.
Cruz has been working hard to court fiscal and social conservatives – and Tea Partiers – since formally jumping into the presidential race two weeks ago.
Are his efforts paying off?
“He’s getting a lot of support from activists for his constitutional conservatism – and rightly so,” Upstate conservative activist Michelle Wiles told FITS. “I know he’s got my support for taking principled stands in defense of what makes our country great.”
Like we said … Cruz has a path to victory in early-voting South Carolina. As well as the resources to capitalize on his early support.
Now if he can just avoid potential pitfalls …

Go Cruz Go!!! Go Cruz Go!!!
I knew about that over a week ago and don’t give a shit where Cruz will be here in Sparklecity (but every damn national politician heads to The Beacon if here in Spartanburg if on a campaign swing)
I’ll be about 10 blocks away at the Nu-Way
If the dick had any balls at all he’d show up at a REAL bar like the Nu-Way where people from ALL walks of life show up – not just the Tea Party zealots and GOP ass kissers (who will be in maximum ass kissing mode all the while swilling sweet tea syrup).
Hope he gets himself the world famous Beacon hash sandwich w/red sauce – he’ll have the runs within an hour fer sure!!!
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!!!!!
Got a BLT there with fries and onion rings. Had enough left over for the next day. Great place to eat.
it’s a good place to eat for some things, just don’t get your chloresterol checked the next day.
And I’m serious about the hash sandwich, it’ll give you the shits within 30 minutes!!!!!
I take out-of-towners there if they want to go and might eat there once in a blue moon but it ain’t been the same since Mr. White sold it and some of the old workers have passed (like Mr. White & “JT”).
“Great place to eat.”
I am agreeing with the RogueElephant! Wowza!
Sure good to see the SC state line sign without Queen Namrata’s name underneath it!!!
Citizens of the United States of America will lose more individual liberties and rights under a Cruz administration than any other president of the United States…………
A national identity card (maybe even mandatory DNA scanning) is a REAL possibility under a Cruz administration.
And you know what? The right wing nuts will be the ones applauding such measures!!!!
You’re nutz!
Your type will be the ones to cheer it on!!!
I’m giving away my age, but I remember the media portrayed Reagan as a scary guy before he was elected. Even G.H.W. Bush promoted that belief before during the primaries. I believed them and voted for Bush in the primary and Carter in the general election. I’ll never let the media or now the web scare me again. Cruz favors verifiable state voter ID. Your statements about national ID and DNA screening have no bases. Where are you getting these nutty ideas?
As for losing individual liberties, I’ve lost more under Obama’s administration than any other President. In fact I would say Obama is the only President that has personally had a serious impact on my rights. He has taken away choices I made for my own healthcare care. The rules on deductibles are restricted. I can’t buy a policy with lifetime limits any more. One of my employers can’t allow me to work more than 25 hours, because of the health insurance mandate. I also have to take off two weeks unpaid non holiday leave, where I’m technically fired and then rehired. Again he says it is do to health care laws.
Bible Thumper what BULL SHIT! The Affordable Healthcare Act is working. You never had lifetime limits, but you did have DOLLAR limits on your policies. Thanks to your insurance carrier. How are rules restricted. You mean to tell my you have more than one job? Come now it is because it was determined by one of your employer’s to have you max out at under thirty hours in order to save on his insurance premiums. All this is do with your employer and your republican pals. Not the federal government. South Carolina is the most backward state regarding healthcare and exchanges.
I am self employed and have a part time job. Removal of dollar limits restricted my choices. If the government forced insurance companies to offer unlimited lifetime dollar amount policies that would be OK. But that is not what they did. Instead they made lifetime dollar limits illegal. I would never choose drastic measures. I have a living will.
I don’t get your argument blaming employers. They are reacting within the law in their own interest, just exactly like you and I do. The government should’ve taken that into account when they designed the law.
By the way my employer is a Democrat.
It’s not a question that I’m blaming employers. They, employers, are using this as an excuse to make their workers to cut back on hours in order to save money. Any way you look at it health insurance is a business expense. So why are they concerned in cutting back. You as a self employed have many opportunities in getting insurance through the ACA, and you would certainly have a deductable business expense. It would be easier if the darling of South Carolina, Ms. Haley, would work with the Feds to open up the system.
He doesn’t give a DAMN about any of that.
Just a Right Wing Republican who wants to bitch.
I am center right, at one time hard right, but I realized hard right bent right back around to the left, so I moved back center.
It is my opinion that Ted Cruz will use his power of position, if ever elected POTUS, to push the Christian agenda. Maybe he is trying to appeal to that group? No idea what his campaign manager are telling him. But most of us are sick of divided politics. I will not support anyone who wants to peddle religion and he certainly has done his fair share.
Maybe he is sincere? If so, that is not the impression he leaves with a deep thinker. Your radical religious right might buy that, but I am not a member.
I want a fiscal conservative who rewards hard work, does care about the people he represents, who is not biased based on religion, sexual preference, race….the list goes on.
I am also looking for a leader. A true leader that does not require a Red or Blue label to define them.
Could this be the year a true Independent wins? Unlikely. I still have hope
In other words your “employer is a Republican.
You should’ve read the replies first.
I don’t think he is.
Of course he’s not.
That’s standard Operating Procedure here by the Republicans,ie,
1)They really vote for lots of Democrats or did at one time
2)They have lots of Black friends
3)They have lots of gay friends
4)They work for Democrats
Well you get the idea….
I am NOT voting for Cruz, I have zero intention of supporting him at all, and yes, I typically vote Republican, so your stereotype isn’t working.
I don’t agree with Mr. Sparkle in context, but I do believe under Cruz, he will push the religious agenda, pass legislation to support “the founding fathers” and all those glorious speaking points that any one who has the briefest idea could dispute – yet here we are acting like a bunch of idiots, Democrats v. Republican.
All those points are valid Birther, but you fail to consider individuals. It is all stereotypes.
It is my opinion that yesterdays Democrats are todays Republicans and vice versa.
It will happen throughout history until people watch more than one channel.
You libturds are so afraid of a genuine conservative being POTUS you can’t stand it. WOW I love it. TED CRUZ 2016.
A conservative? Hell I am terrified we will get stuck with any Republican. I don’t think the middle class or our democracy can possibly survive another one of those idiots who will sell us out to the highest bidding billionaire. They way they have every time they have been in office.
Hell if they win, we might as well change our name to Kochsuckeristan.
Ted you are absolutely right! No pun intended. The repubs don’t give a damn about the little guy.
May have to pass since this genuine conservative has gone from his Goldman Sachs health plan to Obamacare. He will one day be the old tea bagger with the sign reading “Government keep your hands off my Medicare.”
Wag more…bark less!!
He ought to be home with his family for Easter, not flogging for votes at the Beacon.
Simply shows where his priorities are – so much for that “family values” thing all GOP’ers tout so damn much.
Not to worry he will have a photo op in front of a church on Easter Sunday with his family all smiles…………
Hell, his dog probably snarls at him (if he has a dog that is)
“He ought to be home with his family for Easter, not flogging for votes at the Beacon”
True. But they do have good onion rings.
They’re good but the onion rings at The Varsity (long gone) were better.
Gary Johnson and FITS beginning to S#!t all over themselves…LMAO…
Better hurry up and announce as the Pro-Global Warming candidate…before you’re too far behind…LMAO…
Wow! Great job convincing people to vote for your candidate, whoever that may be. Suggestion, don’t ever post it – most of us know something about your train of thought = train wreck.
My husband and I discussed the “what if” Cruz is Republican nominee. He will either vote Independent (if there is good one) or Democrat. I will likely vote Independent even if they don’t have a snowballs chance in hell at winning or stay home. No way I am voting Cruz.
Maybe he should do his got damned job.
