STOP THE PRESSES: Someone said something mean to their spouse during a fight towards the end of the marriage.

If there is 48 hours of this and threats of death and suicide and photos of physical abuse….it is far worse than just saying something mean to your spouse during a fight.
True. I missed the alleged death threats to the family. Still have to wonder what’s going on when the wife is sitting around recording fights with her husband, which, based on the text from that one recording, looks like she possibly tried to start.

I agree with you that it’s “smart” for her to record these rants for proceedings and such, but it kinda destroys any suggestion that there was genuine fear from said threats if there’s a literal library of these recordings. Speaking as a woman, harrassment is extraordinarily difficult to prove and usually comes down to a he said/she said type of scenario. Given he is an attorney, e.g., “credible”, I would think she did what she needed to do to build a case.
This is fascinating to watch unfold. It’s obvious that this website has more at stake in this case than just “reporting” and it’s using this forum to communicate with Todd that he can’t win and should walk away and let it go. (1) violate or attempt to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 407, SCACR, or any other rules of this jurisdiction regarding professional conduct of lawyers;
(2) engage in conduct violating applicable rules of professional conduct of another jurisdiction;
(4) be convicted of a crime of moral turpitude or a serious crime;

I believe he is already under investigation for the bringing the legal profession into disrepute or conduct demonstrating an unfitness to practice law–though as someone else pointed out, his complaint in the Reed v Wells Fargo case also admits that he deposited client funds in his operating account rather than his trust, a suspendable offense.

This is a perfect example of the difference between the priorities of men and women, generally. A man’s priority is to have sex with a beautiful lady. A woman’s priority is to impress other women. Generally, they impress other women by having material things but it goes beyond that. Women also covet other women who have a man that is in a position of power (or, in this case, a perceived position of power). Men are willing to overlook certain things when prioritizing, like whining, nagging and dealing with emotional issues to which they cannot relate. Women are able to overlook things as well when they are prioritizing like the fact that their guy is gross and meat necked. If all women were fat and ugly and all men were poor and powerless, humans would die out. So, if a relationship like the one between these people don’t have love and companionship to fall back on, after a while the woman will quit having sex with the man and the man will tell her to get a job. Thus, the things that these folks were willing to overlook in the beginning because of these priorities, they will no longer overlook. If Todd tells Ashely to go out and get a job to supply herself with those things that impress other women, the Ashely’s mentality is “What the hell am I doing with the slob if he can’t satisfy my priority.” If Ashely quits having sex and amps up the whining, nagging and bitchery, then Todd’s mentality is “What the hell am I doing putting up with all this shit if she can’t satisfy my priority.” Lesson to be learned: marriage based on sex, money and perceived prominence alone will fail, Just like this one.

I have handled over 180 divorce cases as an attorney. I’m just relaying what I’ve seen. Not all cases are the same but this is common theme and Todd and Ashely’s case has this written all over it.
Well, I think you’re generalizing based on a bad sample. To say the priorities of men and women “generally” are so shallow and cynical is a very dark view of human nature. Maybe you should find a new line of work, or a new circle of influence, before your soul is totally blackened. You may be right about this couple, but to say ALL men and women are generally like that is ignorant and insulting.
Actually I wasn’t the first to say this, Freud was but my main point was to say that if you don’t have love and companionship to fall back on and you marry for sex, money or power, then your marriage is going to fail. The feelings and priorities that help initiate a relationship will not sustain a long marriage. The hope is that what attracts us to a potential spouse initially will evolve into unconditional love. If it doesn’t evolve and the foundation of the marriage continues to be those things that initially attracted the two, the marriage will likely fail. Men and women have different priorities when they are looking for a mate. If you don’t believe that then you my friend are the ignorant one.

I looked into, I didn’t find anything that would cause that kind of action. Even the severe allergic reaction doesn’t explain it away. How does one “accidentally” overdose on cough medicine?
