“HONEY BADGER” FREAKS OUT …
|| By FITSNEWS || Todd Kincannon – a former South Carolina “Republican” party official who brands himself as “the honey badger of American politics” – is making national news again. Only this time it’s for something other than his controversial social media pronouncements …
The prominent Columbia, S.C. attorney – whose deliberately provocative tweets have inflamed America’s liberal intelligentsia – was involved in a domestic incident on Thursday evening with his wife, Ashely Suzanne Griffith.
According to The (Charleston, S.C.) City Paper – which broke the story – Kincannon threatened Griffith and refused to let her out of his car after the two had an argument.
“After leaving (a) work function, (Kincannon) began screaming at Ashely while they drove in their car,” a police report obtained by the paper revealed. “Ashely told (Kincannon) to let her out of their car to which he refused. Ashely proceeded to roll down the window and scream for (Kincannon) to let her out, hoping a bystander would call 9-1-1.”
It gets crazier …
“Ashely … called her mother for help and attempted to call 9-1-1 with an open line in order for the dispatcher to hear (Kincannon),” the report continued. “While driving, (Kincannon) saw a police vehicle and ‘freaked out.’ (He) threatened he would drive the car into a concrete barrier if the cops became involved. In addition, (Kincannon) also threatened to kill himself if Ashely left.”

According to Kincannon, he doesn’t remember anything that happened because his body was “accidentally overdosing” on the drug Benzonatate – which he claims to have taken in an effort to deal with an upper respiratory infection.
“Basically, I went completely crazy after taking it,” he told the City Paper. “I don’t even remember all of it. My wife called 911 because she was worried about me and my behavior was way out of character and erratic, and she was afraid for her safety and mine.”
But was his behavior really “out of character?”
In her statement to police, a visibly “trembling” Griffith said Kincannon “has made several threats in the past to kill himself, her, and her family.”
Griffith also told police “she has past incidents of domestic violence and threats of homicide/suicide recorded.”
Whoa …
Kincannon did not respond when the City Paper quizzed him about those allegations – which obviously call into question his whole “accidental overdose” theory.
Sources close to the relationship – including a close friend of Kincannon’s who participated in his wedding two years ago – tell FITS they are concerned for Griffith’s safety.
“It’s a toxic relationship,” Kincannon’s friend told us, declining to place the finger of blame on his buddy but adding, “she should probably get out now.”
Another Palmetto politico told FITS he was concerned for Griffith’s safety because Kincannon was “crazy” and “heavily armed.”
“(Kincannon is) the type who’d show up somewhere and pull her out by her hair,” the source said.
Of course one of Kincannon’s fellow “Republicans” told FITS he wasn’t “a bad guy, maybe just a little off.”
“She doesn’t have anything to fear from him,” another former SCGOP staffer told FITS. “He’s harmless. He’s not going to hurt her – or himself. All that’s being overblown in liberal rags to hurt his image.”
We’ve always liked Griffith – a sweet, smart, stunningly attractive young woman who works in the health care industry.
Of course we’ve also always liked Kincannon. He’s a brilliant guy – and we’ve always felt his participation in the marketplace of ideas (however crazy) was a good thing. He stirs the pot – and his over-the-top rhetoric drives the far left apoplectic.
We can ‘t help but enjoy that part of his persona … to the extent the insanity remains confined to tweets.
Of course we’ve also heard plenty of stories about his erratic nature in real life … including allegations of “controlling” and “threatening” behavior toward Griffith which now have been corroborated by Griffith herself in a police report.
Obviously there’s a lot more to this than just an “accidental overdose” to a drug – which leads us to believe Griffith would be wise to extricate herself from this marriage, and Kincannon would be wise to let her go with a minimum of fuss.
Toxic relationships cannot be fixed … they can only add explosive force to existing combustibility.

I have a friend who went to “church counseling” with her husband because he had hit her. She was told to stop doing things that annoyed him and to focus on making him happy rather than challenging him because he had the responsibility to “provide” for the family and that was stressful for him. A non-religious “liberal” counselor would never give such terrible marital advice. Of course he hit her again, and they are divorced now after he spent some quality time behind bars. We can say “it happens on both sides” but the fact is there is one side that it’s a lot more accepting of abusive assholes than the other. Let’s not kid ourselves.

Looking at the NCVS (Nat’l Crime Victimization Survey- much more accurate that the FBI’s UCR numbers, and I do keep this around every year) in regard to Intimate Partner Violence, African American males generally offend at rates three to four times that of white males. Lots of fcators there, but these are not your whitebread, soft-assed, homeschooled right wing types.

I guess he stays out of jail by Ashely not pressing charges. Threats about killing her and her family may convince her to let it all go, especially if she’s being snubbed by divorce lawyers. If she pressed charges, he would definitely go to jail, especially if the line about the threats being “recorded” means actual audio recordings and not just journal notes or something.

Every time I have been in confrontation with a man, I did not have time to make a phone call. The ONE time I made it too a phone, the cord was ripped out of the wall. Had it been in my hand, it would have taken a fall.

Voicemail ramblings telling her about what a small brain she has, how stupid she is, how awful of a job her parents did of raising her. Todd is a narcissistic abusive piece of sh*t who doesnt deserve a companion, especially as someone as wonderful and sweet as Ashely. And for the record, three different divorce attorneys- refused to take this case on behalf of Ashely-stating they either are friends with Todd-or dont want to get involved in a case with someone as nasty as he is. The mental checkup he was taken to and received that evening…In and out within an hour because Todd threatened to sue everyone. South Carolina needs a wake up call in reference to Domestic Abuse. And the only way that happens is “at fault” SC does not have a “no fault” in the sense FL does.
In this case, they aren’t even “legally” married, just common law. No marriage license or anything. Check the courthouse records. The whole thing was a sham from the beginning with Todd using his money and arrogance to convince a 22 year old to be his “trophy wife” for show and then deciding he owned her. I feel very sorry for her. She made a terrible decision when she was so young and now she’s in this toxic relationship. All of this coming out publicly is a good thing for her. At least some decent lawyer might take her case now. The post that said she has been trying to get out but couldn’t get representation because everyone is afraid of Todd is dead on. This girl is 100% the victim here. Someone please step up and help her out. If I was a divorce attorney, I would take the case pro bono.

The police report is proof that Griffith is the last name on her license, and it doesn’t take 2 years into the marriage to get that changed. It’s funny that Mr. “Traditional Values” asshole’s wife kept her own name. I wonder how much of this marriage was an “agreement” about how they would be perceived by the public.
