|| By FITSNEWS || U.S. Senator Rand Paul and his wife, Kelley Paul, will attend a major fundraiser for his “Rand Paul Victory Committee” in Charleston, S.C. next month.
Paul’s event will be held at the Country Club of Charleston on April 8 – one day after he kicks off his presidential bid in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sponsoring the event? South Carolina Tea Party favorite Tom Davis and establishment “Republican” gadfly Mallory Factor – an interesting combination, if you ask us (to view the event invitation, click here).
“You will be part of an important day in South Carolina and national politics,” an email promoting the event read. “It will be intimate enough to have a chance to spend some time with (the Pauls) thus seating is limited.”
How “intimate?” Just to get in the door will cost you $1,000, while sponsorships run $2,700 and host status will cost you $5,000.
Paul’s candidacy has yet to catch fire in early voting South Carolina … while the splash landing into the race of another Tea Party hopeful, Ted Cruz, threatens to siphon off a big chunk of Paul’s potential support.
We like both candidates … although we’ve also been critical of them both upon occasion. Still, Cruz and Paul are – in our humble estimation – head and shoulders above the rest of the “Republican” rabble seeking the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.
Which is why it’s disappointing to see them sniping at one another already …

Hey Rand, just reach around and turn the lights off, your party’s over before it even gets started.
Don’t worry, there will be a couple of pasty white kids at a card table playing D&D while wearing I Stand With Rand shirts.
Goths for Jesus – baby!!!
Too funny! You really should try D&D sometime. Gary Gygax rocked!
Good timing for Rand, Politico just ran a big article on him losing his father’s base:

He lost their support when he endorsed Romney. Some of them may come back around, but the diehards won’t.
Nonsense piece. The ground work is bigger and more organized then ron 08,12
Ron Paul in 12′ NH primary:
23%
Rand Paul NH polling at:
7%

Someone is uncomfortable with reality.
I think Rand will be better organized and communication skills are far superior to his Dad’s. While he may not get some of Congressman Ron Paul’s base support, his pool of support will be broader. I like Rand.
In the foto —- why does he remind me of Ross Perot?
Almost as goofy in the same chance of becoming president?
$1000 a pop this early don’t get it. With that attitude he is done before he starts. I wanted to support Cruz and Walker any way.
I see where Paul is now calling for INCREASING the defense budget.
What a fraud!
Stop up you progessive authoritarian.
He’s a fraud and you know it .
All you so called “libertarians ” are.
You’re all the worst hypocrites out there.Always casting stones at everyone else, trying to act so morally superior, raging against government, then here we have this so called”libertarian” showing himself to be nothing but the same kind of politician as those you,Fits ,and the rest of your “Ilk” decry, shamelessly pandering to what he believes to be the Republican “base” by becoming a defense “hawk.”
What you fools don’t get is why would that type voter support a Johnny Come Lately like Rand when the field is crowded with big Defense spenders who have been on that wagon for years.
Paul is going nowhere but to a quick exit as the GOP moves inevitably toward nominating Jeb Bush whom you and your fellow “libertarians” will vote for in November 2016 in your final act of hypocrisy for this cycle anyway.
+1 on the this, especially the “libertarian” in quotes.
There’s a bunch of frauds running around claiming to be libertarian.
So even though Jeb is a douche, you are correct in your summation.
There are very few libertarians about. You sure fire way you can tell is whether they endorse any kind of involuntary system funded/put upon by others.
Those claiming to be libertarian but endorsing a system of involuntary interaction are no different from Dems & Republicans.
The ONLY difference is where the draw the line for said involuntary action(and they only draw that line in rhetoric).

If it comes down to a choice of Rand Paul or Ted Cruz, I’d rather have Paul. I just hope he doesn’t share all his Dad’s wacky ideas, some, not all.
I don’t support any particular candidate right now, too early. Certainly not at 1-5k.
Cruz has no clue what he is doing. Its kinda sad
Paul is better then Cruz, but really that isn’t a big accomplishment.
Maybe he’ll run like a wuss if a person of col…wait, he’s hitting the country club!
