TEXAS SENATOR GETS 2016 CAMPAIGN GOING … BUT WHEN DID IT REALLY START?

|| By FITSNEWS ||  The internet was abuzz this week in the aftermath of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz‘s big presidential announcement – with stories covering his splash landing in the 2016 presidential race from every conceivable angle.

There were news stories assessing who he is and what he stands for.   Stories about his Canadian birth.  About his political orientation and how it might translate into votes in the GOP primary.

You know … stuff we’ve hashed over already.

There were other stories, too.  Like California governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown ripping Cruz for being a “climate denier” (while conveniently failing to mention his family’s extensive ties to the oil industry).  And Latino groups slamming Cruz for being “anti-immigrant.”

There was even one story about how students at Liberty University would have faced fines had they failed to show for Cruz’s speech.

Amid all this attention … good and bad … were constant reminders that Cruz is the first candidate (“Republican” or Democrat) to announce his candidacy for the presidency.

Is that true, though?

No …

According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), 194 people – including 54 “Republicans” – have already declared their candidacies.  In fact one of them – Josue LaRose of Deerfield Beach, Florida – filed his paperwork to run all the way back in December of 2008.

Talk about planning ahead …

Meanwhile two candidates – Danny M. Bennett of East Helena, Montana and Jonathan P. Lavigne of Cross Lanes, West Virginia – filed their paperwork on the same day Cruz made his impassioned speech.

Wanna see all 194 names?  Here’s the list.

And those almost two hundred candidates have just as much of a chance a ol’ Ted Cruz does, slim and none……….and slim just left the building.

I ain’t gonna discount that socially disfunctional sloped nosed senator from Texas.
Stranger things have happened in history. Hitler and his Brownshirts were a chickenshit political party at one time but they kept chipping away until the next thing you knew…………………………………..
I’ve only watched one single clip of his “just imagine” sermon and the thing I did hear him mention was the flat tax.
You’ll not find a bigger supporter of a combination flat tax/national sales tax than me but I can’t see me EVER voting for that weird schlub.
If he got down on his hands & knees and swore on the Holy Bible that he would make it his #1 priority after being sworn in then I JUST might. I don’t give a rats ass about anything else he blabbed on and on about.
But the mention of a flat tax does make me hope it will come to pass but it is probably a pipe dream.
I don’t believe one major politician will really fight for it. They are all whores to the way the tax system is at present.

Every proposed flat tax has been grossly unfair. The flat tax presumes all citizens benefit equally from living in this country. That is not the case. The wealthy benefit far more than the poor and the average American from the bounty of the nation and from the money expended by Government. A flat tax essentially shifts taxes from the richest Americans to average Americans.

That’s why I said a combination national sales tax AND flat tax
No tax breaks whatsoever (anything that generates personal or corporate revenue, profits, wages, capital gains, whatever — gets taxed on a percentage basis)

Hmm, Jack makes Ten thousand dollars a year. John makes one hundred thousand dollars a year. Jack pays one thousand in taxes and John pays ten thousand. How is that grossly unfair exactly? Do you really think that John uses ten times the services that Jack does?

I’m not a fan of Cruz, but your comment is silly. The man was an honors graduate from Princeton and Harvard Law School. He was a champion debater as an undergraduate, and Law Review Editor at Harvard. He clerked for Chief Justice Rehnquist. His academic and public service records are impeccable – whether one agrees with him or not.

Imagine a man with a Maserati. Nice car, most people would agree. Now imagine the owner put one of those shitty noisy mufflers you see on Honda Civics, painted the car camouflage, put a huge gaudy spoiler on it, and hung truck nuts on the back of it. Suddenly your amazement and admiration turns to shock, horror, disgust, anger, pity.

Imagine a man with such impeccable accolades as Ted Cruz. Nice resume, to be sure. Now imagine Ted Cruz running as a Tea Party Republican…

Imagine that you construct a labored, absurd analogy…

Imagination March 24, 2015 at 11:01 am

Boo hoo. There are baristas at Starbucks with degrees higher than others. Merits only mean something if you are able to make good use of them to better yourself, otherwise they are wasted. Cruz has bettered himself, that much you can’t deny, but with public service it isn’t about bettering yourself, but bettering the rest of the nation. Ted Cruz squanders his merits on being a bought hack at the beck and call of the ruling elites.

Yeah, golf claps for Ted’s previous work, he’s still a smug, self-serving waste of oxygen. If you want a better analogy go make it yourself.

sparklecity March 24, 2015 at 12:02 pm

Yep.
I heard that!!!!!!!

HD March 24, 2015 at 1:10 pm

As I said, I’m not a fan of Cruz. My comment related to an assertion that he was somehow not an adult. He’s clearly an extremely intelligent man, with exceptional academic and professional achievements to his name. That observation stands, and nothing that his been said relates to it.

sparklecity March 24, 2015 at 1:50 pm

Then you’d have to agree that Bill Clinton (a Rhodes Scholar with a shitload of professional achievements) and Ted Cruz are cut from the same bolt of cloth – correct?
Plus, something tells me no one ever stuck ‘ol Bill’s head in a commode back in high school – can you say the same for Ted Cruz?

gomez March 24, 2015 at 6:51 pm

So, you liked receiving swirlies in high school?

There is no such thing as the “Tea Party”. No “Tea Party” primaries, caucuses or convention exist. There are no “Tea Party” candidates.

You might need to check up on the history of NIMRATA !
Course, she threw the TEA Party down like a used rubber when she was through with them.

fred farkel March 24, 2015 at 4:53 pm

aikencounty you have more problems with Aiken County Republicans then the republican national party has with Cruz. Cruz is a political lightweight whether he attended Harvard and Princeton does not make him a viable or serious candidate. But in good old Aiken and Aiken County the republicans a have pass. Take Wells for example. You NEVER did reply regarding his so-called $50,000 gift from convicted felon Jay Brookes. He, Wells had the audacity in claiming he was a “victim”? We still don’t, know if this asshole paid any money back as he is required to or where the hell he is working. Can’t tell me he is living on his rep pay?

aikencounty March 26, 2015 at 3:30 pm

DUH, I have major problems with REPUBLICANS.
Just too ignorant to know what you are talking about.Who is Wells,,Jay Brooks, and what are you talking about “never” replied?

All that tells me is that he is an excellent bullshitter who has never worked in the private industry since he left college (except for a few stints in law firms and then back to sucking the federal teat)
Just another overachieving wonderboy lawyer who talks for a living and prides himself for pondering how many angels can dance on the edge of the paper the Constitution is printed on without gettng a paper cut.
Public service record my ass……
Being a legal consultant for politicians and a “Hey Boy” for Chief Justices don’t mean shit to me as far as public service goes….
I got nothing against debaters but something tells me he might have got his head pushed inside a commode a time or two back in high school. Maybe that’s why he’s such a socially disfunctional ass now (I’ve read where hardly anyone sits with him during lunch).
One more thing:
Seems like I read that he renounced his Canadian citizenship just a few years ago…..Kinda strange that for someone who claims to love this country so much to not renounce his Canadian citizenship as soon as he was 18- 21 years old ain it?????
The guy’s what – 45 yearls old now?

All great points. Funny (sad) to watch Hannity slather all over him last night. This point “hardly anyone sits with him during lunch,” will resonate with Big T, as he can relate.

Politicians that talk for a living like Cruz does never need a teleprompter.

Being an orator is all they’re good for

A worthless “gift” as far as I’m concerned

sparklecity March 24, 2015 at 11:21 pm

There’s no doubt that Cruz does not need a teleprompter – that’s because of years honing his debating skills to a fine edge (I understand he was captain of a number of debating teams).

That makes Cruz a “MASTERDEBATER” of the highest degree!!!!

My favorite candidate right now is the Reverend Pamela M. Pinkney Butts.

Here are a couple of really good youtube videos to give you a clear understanding of why she is worthy of your support:

The name alone is perfect for a president “Ladies and gentlemen, the president of the United States, President Pinkney Butts…. “
