GRAND STRAND HIGHWAY PATROL SCANDAL SET TO BLOW?
|| By FITSNEWS || A ten-year veteran of the S.C. Highway Patrol was fired this week for “improper conduct/ conduct unbecoming a state employee.”
Pretty specific, huh? (<- sarcasm).
According to WBTW TV 13 (CBS – Florence/ Myrtle Beach, S.C.), lance corporal J.D. McGaha lost his job just one day after the Office of Professional Responsibility at the S.C. Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) initiated an internal investigation.
What gives? According to SCDPS, McGaha is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Hmmmm ….
Also of interest? The investigation into McGaha was initiated on the same day FITS submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the agency seeking materials related to alleged “evidence tampering” involving a senior SCHP official in Horry County, where McGaha was assigned to patrol.
There are also allegations of a cover-up …
“Hundreds have (gone) to jail because of this tampered evidence and didn’t get a fair trial,” one of our sources said.
FITS has received additional details from multiple sources regarding the specific nature of these allegations – and the SCHP officials said to be involved – but we’re awaiting SCDPS’ response to our FOIA before we publish any of this information.
So far, the agency has merely acknowledged receiving our request – which it says is “currently being researched.”

It was not the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, which I attended as a child, where I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 12. It was years later, at another Baptist church in the area. Some of the people there used the church as a place to find willing sexual partners, even though they professed Christian virtue. Then they fired the minister, one of the best people I know, for getting a divorce from his wife. Hypocrisy. It was not an instant decision to leave after just a visit, either. I’d been attending the church for almost a year at that time. I was not the only one to leave over that issue.

It is my opinion, that evidence is tampered with due to political favor, monetary favor, personal desire, and many other reasons. For all those reasons, I personally favor a “smaller” police force.
How can a society be governed, coerced, improved, and yes, SAFE, when those who are administering the judgment are every bit as corrupt, if not more in some cases, than the poor souls paying for it?

I applaud the firing and prosecution of crooked cops. That said, SCHP just recently fired a Trooper in great haste over minor policy violations that likely made no difference at all in the death of a woman who was leaving a bar near the coast and who somehow couldn’t keep her car on the road. My guess is that she was likely very much DUI, but her white trash/black trash family’s whining because she was driving so recklessly her dead ass wound up in a tree stand caused a Trooper to be fired to avoid political fallout. Of course, her death was entirely the Trooper’s fault and had absolutely nothing to do with her own acts of damnfoolery. I hope the Trooper gets a good lawyer and gets his job back with back pay and interest.
They will fire people for minor infractions if they can do it quietly or if it will allow them to save face publicly but they will cover up major occurrences if letting the incident become public would cause them embarrassment. The guy in this article needed to go.
Someone must fall on their sword. Sad part is, most who try to do a goo job, fall on their sword, so we are left with the lot of self serving, underpaid and yes, sometimes, ignorant.
Exactly. Many of the best troopers and leaders fall by the wayside because of unethical and immoral leadership at DPS. They base their decisions on who did something instead of what was done. If you are in the protected circle then you can da anything you want as long as it doesn’t have the potential to draw negative attention to the powers that be. It is all about them protecting themselves without regard for the truth or serving the public. It is always about what is best for them.
They have lost over 40 Troopers since the beginning of the year, guys like this deserves it. Most however are a result of a total lack of leadership and common sense from the Director’s Office. It is time for the Governor to remove him and his henchman from office.
Never trust a woman or man who can shoot a person with community impunity.
I know several HP troopers they are always bragging about all there DUI arrest, but they always leave the party intoxicated and drive home, above the law
Those are the guys that survive under this Director and his corrupt administration, until they get caught. There are plenty of good troopers that do the right thing but most of them are looking for a job because of the leadership at SCDPS.
