|| By FITSNEWS || The University of South Carolina is hosting an NCAA tournament game … and the NAACP is pissed.
How come? The Confederate flag … which is still flying from the grounds of the S.C. State House (and according to some, costing the state big-time).
Really? We’re still on this? Sheesh … doesn’t the NAACP have anything better to do? You know, like raising hell in defense of incompetent black bureaucrats? Or cozying up to a “black” president who has been an unmitigated disaster for black people?
Yeah … we don’t mince words here.
And we’re sure as hell not going to start mincing words on behalf of the NAACP … which is nothing but an instrument of modern-day enslavement for generations of young blacks.
Anyway …
According to Eric Adelson of Yahoo Sports, the NAACP is upset that the NCAA has “softened its approach to injustice” by allowing South Carolina’s women’s basketball team to host a tournament game (assuming they earned it, which they did).
“Schools in South Carolina and Mississippi are now permitted to serve as hosts,” the NCAA said of its rule change. “Under the previous format, schools in South Carolina and Mississippi were not permitted to host championship games in any round due to the NCAA confederate flag policy, which states that no predetermined NCAA championship site may take place in a state where the confederate flag has a prominent presence.”
Lonnie Randoph – head of the S.C. NAACP – is livid.
He told Adelson if the NCAA was “really serious about supporting the cause of justice, there would be no loopholes.” He also complained that his organization was not allowed to weigh in on the format change.
Another S.C. NAACP leader called the NCAA decision “garbage.”
Again … really?
The NAACP imposed an “economic boycott” on South Carolina in 1999 owing to a version of the Confederate Flag flying over the S.C. State House. A bipartisan, bi-racial compromise in 2000 moved the flag off of the dome (and out of the state’s legislative chambers), but that did not appease the NAACP.
Of course the politically correct NCAA is the only major national player to pay the boycott any mind …
This website continues to view the issue as competely pointless. We believe symbols like the Confederate flag – or any other flag – don’t matter because they can easily be used by anybody to advance anything … just like political labels.
“State leaders can leave it, move it, burn it or use it as a bath towel for all we care,” we wrote back in 2011.
Indeed.
In the meantime, the NAACP needs to STFU.
South Carolina’s women’s basketball team – which is all black, by the way – earned the right to host these games exclusively due to their on-court performance. That the NAACP would seek to deny them their moment in the sun over meaningless symbolism strikes us as ridiculous.

Troll much?
“Another S.C. NAACP leader called the NCAA decision ‘garbage.'” The only garbage I see involved here is the members & “leadership” of the SC NAACP. If a black US President can hold a “town hall” in SC, why shouldn’t the NCAA allow its bowls or other tournament games to be held here? I don’t see how anyone, including fits, takes anything the NAACP says or does, seriously.
I agree that the NAACP should STFU, but I also think the flag shouldn’t fly. Take out any hate or any other point about the flag. Its very simple, The confederacy was a defeated nation and we should not fly a flag honoring a defeated nation on a public or state owned property. If they do, and call it history or heritage, then fly the god damned British flag beside it or you are lying. This country was founded by a bunch of people that committed what is called treason (I am happy they did so please don’t misinterpret what I am saying). There were a lot of men that chose not to risk defying the king and fought for the red coats, and they have just as much “history and heritage” In their family as someone who fought for the confederacy, so if that’s why you fly one flag by definition you must fly the other. Since no British flag will ever fly on a government ground here, then neither should the confederate flag or is just hypocritical.
“..we should not fly a flag honoring a defeated nation on a public or state owned property.”
There is a monument honoring British Loyalists in North Carolina.
http://docsouth.unc.edu/commland/monument/304/
There are also many monuments honoring defeated Indian nations.
I couldn’t give a shit about what they are doing in North Carolina, and never once spoke of it. The article and my comments were about South carolina
This website isn’t all about you.
and it isn’t about your change of subject either dumbass
You changed the subject, to the British.
I wrote about SC and a position on the flag in this state and why it shouldn’t fly in direct response to an article about SC and the flag, You went rouge troll into NC because you had nothing intellectual to add to the point of SC and the flag
Why not fly a flag honoring a defeated nation? It is just as much a part of our heritage as the victories.
That was exactly my point, but you must do both if you are going to do it, or its not really about heritage
The Confederacy has more impact and was more recent. They lost and stayed. Most of the Loyalist moved away to Canada or Get Britain.
I don’t object to the Confederate monument and flag. I do wish it wasn’t in such a prominent location. The boycott is silly.
People like you always hide behind “heritage”. There are 50 states/13 original colonies in this country, yet 2 fly the confederate flag prominently.
Neither is it about British loyalists, or Indian nations.
Precisely, why Fish N Chips comment first mentioning the British is irrelevant.
I’ve seen better-constructed essays than this from eighth grade S.C. history students, and ones that make more sense.
I’ll bet you that they weren’t public school students, here in SC.
really? you want to talk shit about a comment on a blog not being up to your standards? Run along Troll run along
I didn’t say if wasn’t up to my standards–I said that it was not up to the standards of an eighth grader.
keep on trolling.
At this point in my life, I’d gladly remove the flag if the African American monument were removed (you know, the original compromise)… how about it, would you agree to that?
The only people that monument offends are people in white hoods and robes
Maybe not hoods and robes, but bigots nonetheless.
Not to mention it’s the gaudiest monument on state house grounds.
So basically, it really is a winner take all mentality?!… well FU, we’ll just keep the flag up then… have a nice day!
I want the NCAA to STFU – student athletes !!! Laughable –
I want them to proudly display the battle flag on their jersey – Pastides is on the board of the NCAA he can make that happen !
Hey Lonnie
I will pay for the bulldozer and crew when you get permission to take the Flag down
Oh, almost forgot – you also have to get permission to bulldoze the African American Monument at the same time
This is America – tit for tat and all that
bless your heart

If the NCAA really cared about the boycott, it would be all or nothing. All they want is to make money by having events that can only make money if a lot of home town fans are present, in SC, but having the ones guaranteed to make money regardless of where they are elsewhere. All the NCAA is a bunch of hypocrites.
I bet Mississippi Burning will not like that….LMAO…
The NAACP … ROFLMAO!!!!! …. Still, they are stuck in “stupid” mode.
Simple. Take the flag down and be done with these conversations every few months. Also, fuck the NAACP, it’s in gross need of reorganization. The reason their so-called boycott does not work is it is a half-assed attempt. Case in point, take the same issue of the flag on a smaller scale with Maurices BBQ, is it still flying there?? No, because it adversely affected business. If we’re waiting for it to come down, simply because it offends blacks, it’ll never happen. It has to affect people’s wallets.
Actually, I believe their boycott has worked several times. Check NCAA baseball tournaments that have moved states.
NCAA baseball tournaments have never moved from South Carolina, as tournaments such as that were exempted. This was the loophole that allowed the NCAA to take this sanctimonious (but ultimately meaningless) stance. They could act like they were supporting the NAACP without really doing anything.
I thought they had . . .

I wonder if the NAACP has considered the possibility that their boycott also hurts blacks in SC.
I wonder if the NCAACP has considered the possibility that their boycott also hurts blacks in SC.
How so?
When you boycott SC from hosting tournament or bowl games, your hurt South Carolina’s black athletes.
Aha.. No, you don’t. You hurt the revenue of the white institutions they play for.
They are not White institutions. Black athletes are members of that institution.
The black athletes don’t get paid, just the (mostly) white coaching staff.
If they didn’t have said institutions, they might not get free education and/or play at the professional level.
What blacks fail to realize is that Lincoln did not go to war against the South to free slaves. The Civil War was all about Cotton Economics. The South was prospering with slave labor, and Lincoln wanted to stop the South before it became too power. The irony to this is that Obama loves and quotes Lincoln all the time.
Grandpa tell you that?
Man, the Civil War didn’t start because of slavery. Ask your Grandpa or Papa, he’ll tell you the truth!
wow, you just started the beginning of a long thread
And that has what to do with the confederate flag flying at the state house??
Blacks Should be more concerned about their economic survival and quit worrying about that crazy flag. Use it as a symbol of encourage for what their ancestors had to endure and move past the hate message. It’s called self-reliance.
Thanks, I’m sure black people take their cues from people who aren’t black about what to be offended and/or concerned about.
Lol!! You don’t know what my ethic makeup is!! Jeez, all blacks don’t think alike. So, stop generalizing.
No. But I do know, that if you are black and you sit back and let others tell you what to be concerned about then, you are a coon and a part of the problem. I do know that…
“Blacks should be more concerned about their economic survival and quit worrying about that crazy flag.”
That can be converted quite easily to “Whites should be more concerned about their economic survival and quit worrying about that crazy flag.”
Evidently, you are not in touch with reality. Whites per capita income is so much higher than blacks in the South. Furthermore, the black unemployment rate is twice that of whites. So, that statement truly can’t be reversed to make sense.
I was actually going to use the term “poor” in front of Whites, but didn’t. Since I used it elsewhere, I’ll go ahead and include it.
Ok, if you want the truth – here goes….
The Confederate Flag flies at the State House to show blacks throughout America and the South that southern whites run and control South Carolina.
It is also steeped in tremendous anger, especially among poor, uneducated whites, who see themselves as being left behind in society. They need to feel in control of something.
What you fail to understand is that poor, uneducated whites did not vote to move the flag from the Dome to the Grounds. Wealthy, educated lawmakers made that decision!
On behalf of the poor uneducated Whites who elect them to office. And the point had nothing to do with moving the flag.
White lawmakers (Senators & Representatives) and black lawmakers (Senators & Representatives) agreed to the Confederate Flag compromise on April 12, 2000. Who do you think elected the black lawmakers?? (poor uneducated whites – I think not). Don’t just blame the poor uneducated whites when blacks elected the black lawmakers who voted for the Confederate Flag Compromise, too!
Black legislators voted for putting the Confederate flag on the monument in front of the State House.
Tell us something we didn’t know. I’d be offended if it weren’t true. But, we don’t need a flag to show us that. Look at the school systems, look at the unemployment rates, lack of healthcare clinics, esp. in the majority black counties. Now, look at the folks who keep getting elected. Do you think they get elected because of their outstanding leadership, or because they pander to the southern white demographic, even the (so-called minority governor). When it is to her advantage to be so, any other time you would think that she’s a southern white woman.
Jeez, you are fighting a losing battle. Use the flag to empower yourself and your race!! It’s that simple!!
No. Its not. You’re deflecting.
Let’s put it this way – Asians come to America with nothing and become very wealthy and prosperous because they practice and teach their children self-reliance principles. Blacks depend on whites to become successful, when blacks should depend on themselves. Integration hurt blacks because blacks tried so hard to be like whites during intergration that they turned their backs on their own heritage.
Bullshit. Asians open up businesses and are exempt from taxes for the first 7 years. Quite a few(beauty supply stores, restaurants, in black comunities). Jews have taxpayer-funded holocaust museums all over the country for some shit that did not occur here. Mexicans(thanks Obama) have come here illegally, and will have a path to citizenship. When blacks ask for their piece of the American dream, they get a foot in their asses, and are told to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and persevere. Whatever that means.
I believe it is South Carolina that is fighting a losing battle — again. This story topic received some play in the national news yesterday, with a lot of people riffing on SC. Seems to me the NAACP is winning the public relations battle.
People have always riffed on SC. That’s nothing new. Historically, SC has always wanted to be independent of Federal control. In SC, these rules have been passed down from generation to generation. Yes, NAACP is making some temporary noise, which will pass soon. Do me a favor, tune in to CNN, MSNBC or your local news on April 1st and see if this will be a topic of discussion any longer.
Yeah, that’s why the Feds fired on Charleston from Ft. Sumter.
Georgia: “For the last ten years we have had numerous and serious causes of complaint against our non-slave-holding confederate States with reference to the subject of African slavery.”
Mississippi: “Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery– the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth.”
South Carolina: “A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery.”
Texas: “She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery– the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits– a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time.”
Virginia: “and the Federal Government, having perverted said powers, not only to the injury of the people of Virginia, but to the oppression of the Southern Slaveholding States.”
States seceded over slavery and they should not be celebrated over it.
Hey don’t confuse these Confederistas with the facts.
Didn’t you know the whole damn war was over the tariff?
Lol!! I’m glad you can cut & paste!
I will help take the battle flag down. But, some place on that worthless piece of property we call “the Capitol grounds” I want a monument to the people who had no slaves and voted and fought for a government of STATES, united to fight bad guys, only. Our current President has proven that centralized government can (and has) become a nightmare – a government of men, not laws. And the NAACP? How much lower can they fall in the esteem of the state? They have become a society of clowns.
“The General Government, as the common agent, passed laws to carry into effect these stipulations of the States. For many years these laws were executed. But an increasing hostility on the part of the non-slaveholding States to the institution of slavery, has led to a disregard of their obligations, and the laws of the General Government have ceased to effect the objects of the Constitution.”
South Carolina, one of many states to specifically mention slavery as it seceded.
No doubt about it. It was important. Slavery is the common state of nature among sentient beings. Ask the Muslims. Only Christian and Christianized religions are opposed to slavery. To be a Christian is to be for freedom with self determination and human self-reliance (with God’s help) and charity. But slavery was never the sole reason or more important than any of the other top three reasons. And many died as much for those reasons as slavery. Many died in WWII for many good reasons, one, not so good. We honor them.
One more thing. The winners write the histories. I’ll bet you never heard about the black soldiers who buggered the little white boys in Columbia. Not all black Yankees, nor many white boys, but it happened, and it happened more than once.
When brothers fight, nothing good happens. The end of slavery in the way it did has been a cause for bitterness, lies, and calumny. But that WAS in the past. Now..
I really don’t have dog in this hunt, I moved here from Iowa a few years back. After reading so many angry comments I almost stopped reading, I’m glad I didn’t. I hope in the future the anger subsides and when we fight against the common foe it is as brothers. My fear, the anger will continue as long as the anger in Washington continues.
Our founding father gave us a government far exceeding any other. Those same founding fathers expected our representatives to be the best and brightest among us, go to Washington and serve, then come home and get on with their life’s work. As long as we have career politicians we will continue to decline.
Aristotle said it best, “Republics decline into democracies and democracies degenerate into despotisms”.
Yes, indeed. And your Aristotelian quote is apropos. As odd as this sounds, I, too, want to move on, but moving on from a false milestone is not true progression. Also, if you live here, you HAVE a dog in this hunt, a CAROLINA DOG. In any case, you come from a state of brave Union soldiers, who fought valiantly, and put as much on the line as did our Confederates.
for chrissake…. take the damn thing down & put it in a museum already.
The Black Expo was this past weekend in North Charleston and is scheduled for May 9 in Columbia. How does that fit in with the boycott?
Oh yeah, Go Cocks!
ThankGod!
I thought Fits was losing it!
Hadnt seen a good race based article lately. This blast made up for it all.Complete with a multitude of comments from the usual suspects.
All part of the Republican Party’s outreach efforts.
and then a crybaby bitching like you
Has any black group boycotted SC because of the flag? They might have for one year then they came back.
Lonnie Randolph is one of the most corrupt characters is SC history.
He used his position with the NAACP to get work at the prison system.
Bullied State employees.
He used his position with the NAACP to get out of a filmed assault on a 5 Points Laundry worker.
He even stole football films from Dreher High School games he played in.
And stole personal items from members of his own High School reunion committee.
He’s a worthless rat: pure and simple.
There are two guys named Lonnie Randolph – one is a politician in Indiana and is involved with the NAACP. He is about 65 years old. Are there 2 of these guys who are just as crooked? If so, it’s a weird coincidence.
The State of South Carolina was part of a losing cause. Take the damed loser flag down.
And Lonnie Randolph: maybe you can get blacks to avoid “black bike week” so our playground does not have to turn into THUGVILLE once a year. If you boycott, do it all the way.
Either that or STFU.
Maybe everybody ought to just STFU – why single out the NAACP?
How about you FITS? Maybe you ought to just STFU!
How about take your own advise too and STFU SCBlues
We need to post a blockade around the MB are during “Bike Fest” weekend and tell the would be participants that the NAALCP does not tolerate violations of its “economic boycott” and send ’em on back home.
