Fraternities are almost untouchable since their members are major donors in particular to the athletics department at USC. Presidents like Pastides will bend backwards as much as they can to not “offend” any local politician and/or donor. Administrators who want to regulate will not get the support they need and will take the ‘heat’ for their actions.
Three chapters have been kicked off campus this academic year.
and if you would factor in the involuntary sex acts and rape, underage drinking, extensive drug use and racist rants more should be closed down. A death is the tip of the iceberg.

But pike is who holds the real purse strings, their alumni association is major athletic boosters. a girl got raped while i was in school at the pike house, they president of the school declared that they were getting their charter revoked. the next day over half of the athletic department pledged donations got pulled and pike was absolved of all wrong doings
Might happen at a small school – wouldn’t happen at a D-1. Fraternities are no where near as big a deal as they once were.

Wilson Forrester, 19, the son of Tennessee Democratic Party chairman Chip Forrester, was found dead at the Phi Gamma Delta House last month.
According to a post-mortem, he had taken a combination of painkillers, anti-anxiety drug Xanax and alcohol which together proved lethal.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (March 5, 2015)– An Indiana University student was arrested for buying a large amount of drugs and dealing from inside his fraternity house. Andrew Thrall, 20, faces a felony charge of dealing a controlled substance.
IU police say Thrall would buy Xanax online and then sell it from the Delta Tau Delta house in Bloomington. They had been investigating Thrall’s activities for months.

I’m new here and to be frank, I probably won’t be posting very often. I just have a question and every time I bring it up on Yahoo Answers, a bunch of self-righteous douche bags start judging me. So I figure this is a better forum to ask.
So here’s the breakdown. Sorry to be bore you with the story. I’m prescribed to Xanax… 0.5 mgs… It’s not an everyday thing, mostly just for when I get in anxious situations. So my fraternities formal function is this Saturday and I got randomly setup with my date, something I’ve never dealt with before. So I’m trying to just be relaxed and not tense about everything. Of course, being the event it is, I’m going to be drinking… a lot.
Me and my friends are all getting dinner first with our dates, so my plan was to take it before dinner, be and a nice relaxed mode, then a couple hours later, start drinking for the pre-game.
So my questions are simple:
-Will taking it before dinner have pretty minimal impact with the alcohol I’ll be drinking a couple hours late (Let’s say I take the pill at 5:30, I won’t start drinking until like… 8ish)
-If I didn’t take it before dinner and just chose to take it before drinking? How would that react? Would it be best for me to take it X amount of minutes of hours before drinking?
-Thoughts on taking one before dinner AND before drinking. At least some amount.
-Should I maybe just split it in half and take 0.25 mg?
I’m sorry, this is a really long post and is kind of just here to serve my own personal gain. I’m just looking out for myself. As you can tell, I don’t really dabble in this kind of stuff (I smoke a good amount of weed, am prescribed to adderall and Xanax, but that’s it)
So any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and how would Adderall mix? Would it help my confidence? What would it do? I’m prescribed 10 mg non XR and 20 mg XR.
Any advice would be appreciated.
In a state where random drug testing of welfare recipients is discussed how about random drug testing during university classes? Athletes have to go through drug testing why not students who get scholarships? what’s the difference?

I sense that you are sincere about trying to keep yourself alive. Given that, it would probably be best to print out your post and show it to an MD who could evaluate your height and weight and metabolism as it relates to when and how much of these meds to take.
I think you probably know that an MD would advise you very carefully. I also know you’re probably *not* going to talk to an MD about this because you know he/she is likely to tell you that you should just leave the “lots of drinking” out of the equation.
My advice to you in the absence of professional medical advice would be to *pace* your drinking severely. Maybe just sip and drink at the rate of one beer/drink an hour and stay on your feet. Eat food.
If you’re not willing to limit your drinking to such a degree, you might not be alive the next day.

Xanax is a benzodiazepine and will suppress your central nervous system.
Alcohol is a depressant and will also suppress your CNS.
Adderall is an amphetamine, really just legal speed and will stimulate your CNS.
Research the drugs you take man, come on. The most dangerous interaction would be with the benzos and alcohol. Take any fair amount of benzos and drink heavy= blackout. Xanax is a fast acting benzo with a short half-life, which means it affects you quickly but also begins to fade in four hours or so. Never take benzos sporadically throughout a night of drinking because you will have an amnesia effect and not remember how much you have taken, leading to potentially taking way too much.
Bottom line: Give your body a good twelve hours to get rid of any xanax and don’t take anymore before or while drinking. If you must, have a couple drinks before dinner as a substitute.
The mixture of benzos and alcohol is dangerous enough. The young man who passed away was possibly taking(according to this article) xanax(benzo), painkiller(opiate), and drinking. That is an overdose waiting to happen. That combination frequently results in OD.
Ive gotta ask, why the hell would you be taking adderrall and xanax? If you truly have ADHD then the stimulant would actually calm you. If not it would just be like speed. Sounds like you’ve got a horrible GP if he is prescribing adderall and giving you xanax to take the “edge” off.
Perhaps that is not the case and you do take it occasionally.
Benzos can be nearly impossible to get off of after extended use, but most doctors wont tell you that because they aren’t benzo literate. Google Dr. Heather Ashton in the U.K. if you really want to understand benzo effects, addiction, etc.
Someone with your pharmaceutical regime shouldn’t be drinking, period.

Years ago an older gentleman sent me an interesting article, based on how and why male insurance rates are higher than females. I found it interesting, there is a part of the male brain that does not fully mature until around age 25, that part of the brain that allows them to assess risks vs. danger.

When the issue is a death of a young man, post demonstrating jealous, class warfare, etc, simply have o place. There are larger issues here, and to try to make small points is simple minded

in the day when the Golden Spur in Russell House offered draft by the pitcher and the drinking age for brew and vino was 18, we don’t seem to have had these issues to as great an extent. Maybe we need to return to 18, old enough old to die for your country, old enough to learn to drink responsibly.
Horrible for the family and this young man.
