Mia McLeod: Nikki Haley Is A “Cyber-Bully”

“THERE’S NO SHORTAGE OF WIMPS IN THE STATE HOUSE … AND NO SHORTAGE OF BULLIES IN THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION” || By MIA McLEOD ||  This is bully week … oops … I mean, budget week in the House.  And although SC House Republicans are the majority party, they seem to…

“THERE’S NO SHORTAGE OF WIMPS IN THE STATE HOUSE … AND NO SHORTAGE OF BULLIES IN THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION”

Mia Butler Garrick Head Shot|| By MIA McLEOD ||  This is bully week … oops … I mean, budget week in the House.  And although SC House Republicans are the majority party, they seem to be in the minority when it comes to guts, gumption, courage and leadership.

The showdown started on day one, when Speaker Jay Lucas had us re-do votes that we had already done, simply because governor Nikki Haley launched her cyber-bullying campaign on Facebook.  Little did we know … that was only the beginning.  All week, she has been bullying her Republican colleagues into submission.

But they’re not the only ones who are being “punked.”

Governor Haley can’t protect our identities from cyber-hackers, but she sure can cyber-bully the South Carolina House.

No bond bill, no additional support for our technical colleges, no pay increase for state employees, no real roads and infrastructure development fix, no funding plan for poor, rural public schools or critical job training and economic development projects.

But more importantly, no voice and no representation for millions of SC voters, who have unknowingly conceded their concerns, interests and futures to a cyber-bullying Governor, who obviously cares more about her personal political aspirations than the people of South Carolina.

Meanwhile, it’s the hard-working citizens of our state who continue to get the short end of the stick.

Clearly, there’s no shortage of wimps in the State House … and no shortage of bullies in the Governor’s Mansion. But taking to facebook and twitter to stifle and un-do the little bit of progress we are able to make when we work together is not only petty. For a Governor who calls herself our state’s top leader, it’s downright deplorable.

If this is governing, South Carolina is in trouble, indeed.

So, are we really gonna allow ourselves to be poked and prodded … pimped and punked … by our Governor—on Facebook?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Petty, partisan politics does absolutely nothing for the people of South Carolina.  Our Governor’s actions consistently indicate that she isn’t willing or able to lead by example.  But, why can’t House Republicans stand up to her and do what’s best for their constituents and the citizens of this state?

We have an amazing opportunity to do right by the people of South Carolina.  All that’s required are real leadership and courage.  And you can’t have the former if you don’t have the latter.

So, here’s the deal.  I’m gonna lead by example and say what my Republican colleagues didn’t have the guts to … at least not to her face.

Sorry Governor … if you wanted to run the SC House, you should’ve stayed in it.  Maybe you would’ve eventually done something for someone other than yourself while you served.

All of us should be able to represent our constituents without undue interference and influence from a former House member who happens to have upgraded her title, but possesses none of the leadership skills that should accompany it.

Instead, many of our Republican colleagues seem more concerned about the Primary opposition she has “promised” them, should they exercise any semblance of courage and independence.

South Carolinians deserve better.  House Republicans can do better.

And I’m confident that if Republicans and Democrats ever decide to truly work together for the greater good of all our citizens, South Carolina will finally achieve unprecedented progress and success.

Maybe Governor, you should post … or tweet … that.

Mia McLeod represents District No. 79 in the South Carolina House of Representatives.

Wow is right! LOL. Rep. McLeod is apparently pissed, maybe we should tweet that. I have seen Gov. Haley use her FB page to do some cyber bullying, at one point it was directed at Sen. Shealy. I finally just got off FB, my blood pressure has greatly improved.

Where do you stand on the debacle at SCSU Ms. McLeod?
Has that gubamint money been well spent?

What’s your plan for road improvement Ms. McLeod?
Why are our roads so screwed up right now?

Why do our technical schools need more money Ms. McLeoad?
Should they not be largely self supporting?

Our president is doing exactly the same thing Ms McLeod.
Have you expressed ire at his actions?

While I respect Rep. McLeod for standing up, I don’t agree with her core issues, which seems to be that we need to spend more money:

“No bond bill, no additional support for our technical colleges, no pay increase for state employees, no real roads and infrastructure development fix, no funding plan for poor, rural public schools or critical job training and economic development projects.”

I started to say something about “more, more, more” but she is generally not that way – this article makes me think Trikki Nikki hurt her feelings….

Across the state few companies are giving pay increases. I wish everyone was paid better, but I don’t think that is realistic given the climate.

Yes, more, more, more….but in all fairness, I have seen Haley’s FB page, followed it for years and there is some bullying going on there. If she doesn’t get her way, she takes it to her page…

that’s when a fillabuster was a fillabuster and you didn’t get to cheat and use a foley catheter. Course dueling was legal then too.

Dueling, tarring & feathering – both should be allowed

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 1:08 pm

I would have a far better chance getting elected with those odds :)

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:03 pm

I have watched Game of Thrones, Vikings and Reign of Mary Queen of Scotts – I hereby declare myself an expert in the above mentioned areas.

Dueling: They wear a mask, just hire someone to do the dirty work for you.

Tarring and feathering: Now that is a painful event, but I saw it on TV, so I’d hire someone for those events too ;)

An easy win!

OK – I give up. On the main article your avatar is square, but when I follow the red dot your avatar is, well, a round tangerine! What is the trick to this?

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:47 pm

I wish I could help you there….LOL. I simply uploaded a free JPEG that is a close up shot. I have tried and tried to make it round, but, too lazy to go downstairs to the computer that has tools to fix the JPEG into a round image.

Heck, I like the Fablet that is mobile, but my typing is horrible on lengthy msgs that I can’t see. My laptop is MAC (which I hate, but my dear loving and nerdy husband thought it the best choice after my last one crashed), so the only REAL computer I like is now downstairs.

If you figure it out – please do let me know….LOLOLOL

shifty henry March 13, 2015 at 3:52 pm

OK, when you first showed up on the main page it was round, now it’s square – but when I click the red dot it is round — I’m seeing it now. If you follow the red dot to read this, see what it is on yours. It certainly is a mystery!

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:55 pm

I have! And tried to fix it, but I don’t have the tools on this laptop. I need to tweak the original image. I uploaded a web image in JPEG format, but the pic is square and I too have noticed the same thing.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:55 pm

Have I said I hate Mac? and the Office Libre? :)

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 4:02 pm

Only this week did I even have a pic – mostly due to a family illness and time to go get one. I’ll work on it over the next few weeks so that it will be nice and round. Only because you make me laugh ;)

When I was in the Mediterranean I liked to hang out in the British bars. This was one of my favorite songs that was played, and sorry you can’t get the catchy tune. You’ll get the joke!

———————————-

HOLE IN THE GROUND

There I was, a-diggin’ this ‘ole
‘Ole in the ground, so big and sort o’ round it was
And there was I, diggin’ it deep
It was flat at the bottom and the sides were steep
When along comes this bloke in a bowler
Which he lifted and scratched his ‘ead
Woooh, he looked down the ‘ole
Poor demented soul and he said

“Do you mind if I make a suggestion?

Don’t dig there, dig it elsewhere
Your digging it round and it ought to be square
The shape of it’s wrong, it’s much too long
And you can’t put hole where a hole don’t belong”

I ask, what a liberty, eh?
Nearly bashed him right in the bowler

Well, there was I, a-stood in me ‘ole
Shovellin’ earth for all that I was worth, I was
And there was ‘im, standin’ up there
So grand and official with his nose in the air
So I gave him a look sort of sideways
And I leaned on me shovel and sighed
Woooh, I lit me a fag
And havin’ took a drag I replied

I just couldn’t bear to dig it elsewhere
I’m diggin’ it round ‘cos I don’t want it square
And if you disagree, it doesn’t bother me
That’s the place where the ‘oles gonna be

Well there we were, discussing this ‘ole
‘Ole in the ground, so big and sort o’ round
It’s not there now, the ground’s all flat
And beneath it is the bloke in the bowler hat

And that’s that!

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 4:23 pm

I ain’t no fan/supporter of Obama bur for crying out loud, can’t people just fucking TRY to leave out Obama on every subject of government problems (be they local, state or federal).
It’s an old chesnut but if you can’t straighten out things on the local and state level then STFU if you are attempting to pin the problems of a disfunctional state like South Carolina on the president of the United States of America (and I don’t give a rats ass WHO the president is when it comes to bullshit like this)

The Colonel March 13, 2015 at 11:27 am

My point really has nothing at all to do with Obama, and everything to do with the false standard of civility that Mia is claiming Haley violated with her “cyber bullying”.

The freaking Vice President of the United States, Aaron Burr, fought and won a duel with the former Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, over a matter of political debate. And here Mia is whining about being “cyber bullied” – freaking boo hoo already.

Maybe Mia should put on her big girl panties and propose some affordable alternatives to the “dead on arrival” plan she was supporting.

“Simple, it illustrates my point perfectly . . . ”

SCBlues March 13, 2015 at 2:19 pm

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:26 pm

I don’t think she is so much thin skinned, as she is pissed off she didn’t get her way. She is employing the same tactics. Just read her article.

sparklecity March 13, 2015 at 11:35 am

One other thing:
I have to agree with a lot of what she is saying and it is my personal opinion that Queen Namrata by her deeds and more importantly her actions or more importantly, lack thereof – i.e.; not taking responsibility for any of the state’s fuck-ups (ESPECIALLY the DOR hacking fiasco – 2 damn years and STILL no details on who is responsible – that’s pure bullshit!!!) is that she is not fit to be governor and is only slightly more credible than that military duty shirking SOB Mark Sanford.

Reply
Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 11:44 am

Give me a break. DOR has nothing to do with this conversation. “Queen Namrata” is an example of cyber bullying. Hacking is common place an the perpetrator is usually out of reach of law enforcement. Examples: Target, Sony

Reply
Bill March 13, 2015 at 1:28 pm

and in both the case of Target and Sony the CEO’s resigned. Would you advocate that Haley, as head of DOR since it is a cabinet agency, resign also?

Nevermind, you have proven time and again that you routinely drink the “nothing is ever Haley’s fault” Kool-Aid.

Reply
Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 1:37 pm

Not true. Target was the first example of an executive resigning, it is the outlier. As for Sony the executive resigned to pursue another opportunity and was pressured not because of responsibility for the leak but because of racist content of exposed emails about Obama.

Bill March 13, 2015 at 1:42 pm

You are splitting hairs. First, the Target CEO resigned because of the hack, so what if he was “first”.

The Sony hack resulted in damaging Sony as a brand and costing it money, much the same way the DOR hack damaged all the taxpayers and has cost the state millions.

Way to go proving my point that you are a Haley apologist of the 1st order.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 1:49 pm

Here is an interesting thought….those who complain most about Government spying on us are usu the first to complain most when we are hacked. Cyber Security is a much needed tool to prevent attacks such as Sony and/or DOR. I really don’t think the government gives a rats ass about our silly conversations.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 1:54 pm

The embarrassing emails that preceded Amy Pascal’s resignation …
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-amy-pascal-email-rogen-hirai-20150205-story.html

Apologist – a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.
I have been critical of Haley in the past. The last few days have restored some of my respect for her. I want her to fight more, not less. I want her to use Facebook more not less.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm

I too have been critical, but in this case I agree with her.

Bill March 13, 2015 at 2:16 pm

I will attempt to simplify the logic for you –

Sony is hacked – Hack results in emails being released to the public which damages Sony’s brand that cost it $$ – CEO resigns

SCDOR is hacked – Hack costs Taxpayers and the state millions – CEO says its not her fault and makes excuses

how about addressing my original question with a simple yes or no – “and in both the case of Target and Sony the CEO’s resigned. Would you advocate that Haley, as head of DOR since it is a cabinet agency, resign also?”

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:22 pm

I’ll answer it – no. Yes, I am as disgruntled as anyone, my personal information was hacked. If you know enough about technology, you know the threats that exists and hackers are always looking for a way to break in. Much like a robber. If someone robbed the Governors Mansion, should she resign?

Moon Bat March 13, 2015 at 3:36 pm

If she cut the staff and left the head security job vacant for over a year like was done at DOR then yes.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 4:08 pm

Could precautions have been taken? Yes. Do we even know if that spot was filled we would not have been hacked? No.

Cuts have been necessary in this economic climate. Sure I am pissed my personal info was leaked, might be even more so if someone uses it, but …. it happens.

Was she responsible for those people who wrote check on my credit card accounts that I use for internet purchases? What about the many gifts that were stolen at Christmas? Mail stolen my from mailbox? Is that her fault too?

sparklecity March 14, 2015 at 5:36 pm

The ONE BIG GLARING difference is that if you have financial dealings that require you to file with SC DOR and you DON’T file or report those dealings you will be fined or even go to jail. You won’t t go to jail if your mail is stolen.
As govenor of South Carolina it is the ultimate responsibility of the govenor to bring those who break the laws of South Carolina to justice and punish them for their actions. As far as this matter goes Haley has failed miserably.
The Spartanburg H/J reported today that 3 people have been arrested for SC tax evasion. Their acts are a pittance compared to the millions South Carolina has spent trying to half-way fix this screw up and we still don’t know who did it or what the outcome will be after almost 3 years.
That’s plain bullshit no matter what your political persuasion

SCBlues March 13, 2015 at 2:17 pm

“Way to go proving my point that you are a Haley apologist of the 1st order.”
100% true!

sparklecity March 13, 2015 at 2:26 pm

10+++++
Either you believe in the saying ‘the buck stops here” or you don’t
And yes the DOR hacking is 10X6th power in magnitude compared to the others.
let’s not forget you are required BY LAW to file to the SC DOR if you have income or financial issues involving revenue that the state of South Carolina deems as collectable by the state. Whether or not you are a citizen of South Carolina.
This hacking has happened under Queen Namrata’s watch and as chief executive of the state of South Carolina and the agencies UNDER the state of South Carolina she bears the responsibility to make this fuck up whole
if the Queen has time to get on Facebook and bitch about the budget of which the DOR is the primary revenue collector for the state of South Carolina than this damn well has everything to do with this conversation.
i agree that “Bible Thumper” is blindly loyal to Queen Namrata

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:28 pm

I think FDR would disagree. He was believer in we are going to try something, if it doesn’t work, then we’ll try something else.

Maybe we are trying something else?

The Colonel March 13, 2015 at 2:30 pm

Except there is no evidence that anyone was actually harmed by the DNR hack.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:44 pm

Colonel, if you are in the military and do have said credential you have posted on other comments, then you are probably aware that hackers are not going to use that information immediately, they are patient.

I think you meant DOR? Was DNR hacked? That might explain the buoy issue ;)

The Colonel March 13, 2015 at 2:48 pm

Fargging autocorrect…
Yes, DOR. However, I disagree with your assertion that they wait. These days, they tend to strike immediately before you can take action.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:50 pm

I know all about auto correct… :) Disagree you might, but depends on what you really know – they don’t strike immediately, they wait, unless they are an amateur who wants to be caught.

sparklecity March 13, 2015 at 3:18 pm

Did the damn DOR hacking happen or not???
And IF is low probability of ramifacations than why did the State of South Carolina offer credit monitoring (pittiful as it is)?
I know that offering credit monitoring is SOP these days as a pittiful mea culpa but you are absolutely wrong to assert to assert that this is small potatoes.
it AIN’T small potatoes Pal.
I’d feel the same way no matter who was govenor if they swept this shit under the rug like her administration has.
This hacking is a fuck up of major proportions and yet noone has been held responsible the ones who did it have not been exposed and the agencies responsible (including SLED, DOR,FBI and any other agency) have not kept the citizens informed of the progress of the investigation..
You of all people know that if this happened in the military heads would have rolled two fucking years ago.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 3:23 pm

Sparklecity, isn’t it kind of weak for you knowing that Haley had a good week, that your only rebuttal is dredging up the past.

sparklecity March 14, 2015 at 3:35 pm

First of,f I was not aware that she had a good week. Looks like that is your job to monitor her bowel movements.
If she had one good week or 104 good weeks is NOT the point.
The point is that the DOR (the PRIMARY agency for revenue gathering for the STATE of South Carolina) was hacked and millions of individuals and SSN’s,bank accounts and other important financial information was compromised not to mention business doing what the great state of South Carolina required them to do under penalty of law if they did report their earnings and hardly any information about who did it or when the perps will be brought to justice has been provided.
The buck stops at the Queen’s desk – plain and fucking simple
if this was a Democrat govenor I’d be posting the same thing.

I’m sure of one thing though, IF this happened under a Democratic governor posters like you would have been pinging for the last two years and talk radio would be calling for that govenor’s head day after day.

The Colonel March 13, 2015 at 3:26 pm

I’m not sure what else you’d have the SC Gubamint do. They investigated, they provided the credit monitoring, they made some changes… The goobernor isn’t going to fall on her sword over it.

All of these systems predate the Haley administration. She followed the guidance of the investigating agency, the allegation that she was trying to cover it up is demonstrably false. If she didn’t “mea culpa” enough for you well, get over it or die mad.

Chuck March 13, 2015 at 3:43 pm

“All of these systems predate the Haley administration.”

Except for the inconvenient fact that her appointee to DOR left the head IT security position vacant for about a year. It was not filled until after the hacking.

Perhaps that is why the US Secret Service and not SC discovered the breach.

When you delve into the facts on the hack the lack of security on the part of Haley’s DOR is downright shocking.

http://www.darkreading.com/attacks-and-breaches/how-south-carolina-failed-to-spot-hack-attack/d/d-id/1107515?

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:49 pm

The Colonel March 13, 2015 at 5:51 pm

sparklecity March 14, 2015 at 3:42 pm

First thing:
You claim they investigated (I don’t recall any hard details, just generalities) Provide a detailed progress report on the investigation (or lack there of) to the public
The queen owes her subjects that much dosen’t she?
How fucking difficult is that for crying out loud???????
BTW, I don’t recall ANY allegations that she tried to cover up anything.

The Colonel March 14, 2015 at 3:50 pm

A fairly good summation of the investigation: http://www.securityweek.com/stolen-login-credentials-poor-security-practices-led-south-carolina-data-breach

A summation of Haley’s comments: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/20/nikki-haley-hacking_n_2167086.html

As to allegations of a cover up, get real, Fits and every other web site, blog and newspaper were rampant with allegations of a cover up. The blogosphere was rife with rumor, innuendo and tall tales.

I’m not going to get into the cover-up thing because that has not been my point all along and I don’t believe there was a cover-up.
The links you provided are just the summations of what happened back in 2012 not any action or details since that time. The “investigation” link only tells what happened at the time – hell, everybody knows how it happened. What we have NOT been told is WHO did it and WHAT is being done to bring them to justice. There has been rumors that whoever did it was paid off (i.e. extortion)
There is NO political motive on my part but an insisitance that the people who filed and have had their information compromised be informed about the investigatior or if it is still on-going.
Ever hear of the victims assistance program?
it’s been done every fucking day. if South Carolina’s finest can provide updates to a victim of assault then by God South Carolina’s finest should be able to give us answers to the biggest government hacking in the history of the great state of South Carolina. And not just throw up their hands and say: “That’s all we can we can do”
If they can’t then it only proves how ineffective the great state of South Carolina really is.

I ain’t planning on dying mad; that’d be bad “Ju-Ju” . My plan is to live to be 90 and shot by a jealous husband.
But shit of this magnitude is something i won’t let loose
Looks to me like you are carrying the water for the Haley team fer sure.
One thing about most US Army colonels, they either make O-7’s or stay frustrated O-6’s and do all the shit work for O-7’s (but there are worse gigs I’ll admit and the retirement at O-6 level ain’t nothing to sneeze at – Lord knows I’d take it)
From your postings on this subject it looks to me like the rest of your military career is well suited for shit work for O-7’s………..

The Colonel March 14, 2015 at 4:22 pm

I’ve got multiple issues with the Haley administration but this isn’t one of them.

As for the “frustration” thing, 1 June 2015 will end most of my frustrations…

sparklecity March 14, 2015 at 4:35 pm

Congradulations.
As a retiring O-6 i’m sure you will have more than one retirement party.
I sincerely hope you enjoy each one and get one big assed shadow box!!!!
Seriously……………

Yet.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 2:33 pm

Everything Haley did before Nov. 2014, the voters have decided on.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:48 pm

I “think” even some of her campaign managers would disagree with that.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 2:50 pm

My mistake. I thought there was an election last November.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:51 pm

That doesn’t mean they agree with EVERYTHING she did. That simply means she was the lesser of the evils put forth. Even political consultants who previously disagreed with her openly, supported her.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 3:03 pm

This was a big week for Haley. The legislature came out looking foolish. So, instead of praising her or at least a nod of respect, critics bring up things from the past.
Fits does the same, fits says Haley is right but is a hypocrite at the same time. Does he do the same in all his relationships. Instead of praise for good work or behavior does he dredge all the bad (never the good) from the past. He would be a pain in the ass to his wife, children and co-workers.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:05 pm

I have praised her. It might come as a surprise to you that at one time I published op-ed in favor of Haley.

I like a lot of what she does, we have no one better, so I don’t gripe a lot, EXCEPT when she becomes vindictive in other races. i.e. the whole Tom Rice vs. Andre Bauer, nothing more than malice IMHO.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 3:14 pm

Politics in South Carolina is vicious. You have to have steel gonads to survive. Their is a long list of men who’s political careers have ended because they crossed Haley.
In a man we call it toughness in a woman it is called vindictiveness.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:15 pm

I said a couple years ago, maybe three, that either Haley or Harrell would have to go. I am no prophet, but the writing was on the wall.

I call it vindictive regardless of whether a man or woman does it. I am a woman, so there is no bias there.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 3:18 pm

I’m a man, but some of her harshest critics are women. Mia is just one.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 3:25 pm

Well you know BT, I’ve been called all sorts of things. People love to label other people, especially when we don’t fit into some nice little corner designated just for us. They also love to segregate based on race, sex, preferences, beliefs, and the goes on….

As I said earlier, I disagree with the premise on which Rep. McLeod attacked, but do appreciate her stand up for what SHE believes in.

In no way an endorsement I agree. I looked at her site linked into the article and can’t find anything I agree with her on, but I respect her for speaking out.

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:53 pm

I think I see your point – the voters decided to re-elect her. True, doesn’t mean they are in lock step, just she was the best of the lot.

Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 2:31 pm

“Would you advocate that Haley, as head of DOR since it is a cabinet agency, resign also?”

I say, let the voters decide. Oh wait! They did.

I personally don’t care for that slang name. Just like I don’t agree with our current POTUS, I still address him, at least in the one letter I sent to him, as President Obama.

Anything less, your argument is weak. I might call her Nikki or him Barack, b/c I personally do not feel inferior, but I don’t feel the need to make up derogatory names for them.

Mia, it is damaging to real victims of cyber bullies for you to define a civil expression of opinions as cyber bullying. The Governor would not be fulfilling her duties if she didn’t express her opinions. For her to use the Internet to do so is the most democratic and efficient way to do so. In the past the Governor’s statement would have been filtered by the media and you would have to wait through the media cycle.

The legislature violated state law by not recording roll call votes. Haley managed to stop it without insults in one day using Facebook. The House new she was right and corrected it quick. To you these votes seem trivial, but it leads to a gradually erosion of transparency.

As for the bond, again, the state should not be borrowing money during this period of increasing revenue. She expressed her opinion in a civil manor effectively on social media as President Obama has done concerning Homeland security funding and many other issues.

What you resent, Mia, is the democratization that social media has brought to the legislative process. Before the voters could only helplessly complain after decisions were final. Now they can effect the process before hand.

I just broke down and looked at Haley’s page. I guess this is the comment that is bullying?

“Governor Haley will not support putting the state into debt in order to fund legislators’ spending wish list.” Please continue to tell your legislators with hundreds of millions of dollars in new money we don’t want any more debt. Whether it is half a billion or a quarter if a billion in debt, the taxpayers don’t want it. Legislators need to remember who they work for. I will be posting the vote. PLEASE SHARE ?#?NoMoreDebt?”

Reply
Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 11:47 am

Exactly! Completely civil and direct. No insults.

Reply
Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 11:48 am

I have to say I agree. I also saw this one on Haley’s page, again no insults, just facts. There is also an article on The Nerve covering this same topics.

“Some things never change. We passed a law that would require legislators to have to show their votes on the record including every section of the budget back in 2011. Accordingly under this New leadership, House rule “trumps state law” and now they only have to do it if someone objects to every section. Rules protect legislators. Laws protect the people. Why is it that we continue to face these fights of transparency with the legislature? Let your voices be heard with your House members. Please SHARE.”

“spending wish list”, “with hundreds of millions of dollars in new money”
It is not hypocritical to be against some borrowing and for other borrowing in a different situation.

Reply
Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 1:34 pm

I don’t really agree with that entirely. Debt is debt and you can’t borrow your way out of debt.

Bill March 13, 2015 at 1:35 pm

so…she does not want any more debt…unless it is something she or Boeing / BMW / Mercedes / Volvo support…got it.

nitrat March 13, 2015 at 1:10 pm

So, those who use social media in orchestrated attacks should be the ones who determine what legislatures do?

Reply
Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 1:19 pm

If Haley’s argument wasn’t true then it wouldn’t have effected the legislative action. She didn’t force them to do anything. They were exposed publicly and chose to reverse course. Victory for transparency and fiscal responsibility.

Reply
Bill March 13, 2015 at 1:32 pm

so…just so we are on the same page…when Haley borrows millions for Boeing or when she begs the feds to give her a payday advance so her cabinet agency DOT can pay its bills borrowing is OK. However, when the legislature proposes borrowing to get a bunch of stuff done while taking advantage of historic low interest rates its a bad idea…right?

Reply
Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 2:07 pm

What about those “historic low interest rates” for housing? How did that pan out?

I wonder what happens if a state declares bankruptcy? Does that mean the FG owns you and the Bill of Rights no longer applies?

I should probably ask someone in CA …

Tangerine March 13, 2015 at 1:26 pm

I don’t like it when she uses social media to bash individuals and/or endorse. However, that would be against Free Speech, so I digress.

Reply
Bible Thumper March 13, 2015 at 11:55 am

Read Haley’s Facebook (excerpts are posted in this thread) and comparing them with Mia’s comments, it seems clear that Mia is more of a bully than Haley.
Mia seems to think the legislature should do its work in private without comment from the Governor or anyone else. Sorry! Ain’t gonna happen.
