GOVERNOR BLASTS STATE SENATE FOR BLOCKING “ETHICS REFORM”
|| By FITSNEWS || After slamming the S.C. House of Representatives two weeks ago for supporting deficit spending, S.C. governor Nikki Haley turned her criticism to the S.C. Senate this week.
Specifically, Haley blasted liberal S.C. Senate president Hugh Leatherman and liberal S.C. Senator Luke Rankin during a visit to Florence, S.C.
Her beef? The State Senate’s failure to pass her preferred version of “ethics reform.”
During a speech to around five hundred people at the Florence Chamber of Commerce, Haley specifically singled out Leatherman and Rankin – both “former” Democrats – for opposing the ethics reform bill she’s been championing.
Obviously, Haley didn’t have a leg to stand on when she criticized the House for borrowing money (as she supported an even larger borrowing bill two years ago), but does she have a leg to stand on in calling out Leatherman and Rankin?
Don’t be silly … this is Nikki Haley we’re talking about, people.
Of course she doesn’t.
Aside from her personal hypocrisy on ethics reform, the bill Haley is supporting would actually move South Carolina backward on this issue … which is probably why she’s been reduced to lying to her supporters about it.
Don’t get us wrong … we’re all about microwaving some popcorn and watching as Haley and lawmakers engage in yet another spitball fight over yet another meaningless piece of legislation.
But we’re not going to do our readers the disservice of pretending any of it matters … or that these bad actors are ever going to stop whitewashing and burying scandals.
Real ethics reform means binding elected officials to the same consequences the rest of us must face when we break the law … and the legislation Haley is pushing (once again) fails to do that.

They need to take this outside at the North Charleston IHOP.
“…Obviously, Haley didn’t have a leg to stand on….”
damn right skippy, but she does have a whole lotta rump roast to sit on
Probably for public consumption only!
The witch is burning all bridges to get to higher office. Looser!!
Haley got an landslide approval of SC voters in November. Live with it.
Scooter is right. When the Republican voting block in SC had its opportunity to rebuke Haley for her misrepresentations, the Georgia sell-out, use of state resources to campaign, etc. etc., they just could not do it. They said, loudly and clearly, that her behavior was acceptable. Thanks a lot.
We all have to suck it up for a few more years.
No.They looked at the Socialist Democrat Party and the muslim dictator occupying the WH who is trying to destroy America and figured that they better support Haley and ANY conservative Republican in these dark times. Only thing you liberal clowns are sucking are our enemies C%$^&’s!
Thanks. I forgot to mention that dumbasses who believe things like “Muslim dictator in the White House” all vote Republican.
They get what they deserve.
They could have gotten rid of the heifer if they had run an honest SC House Ethics Committee investigation of her on the John Rainey allegations.
But, they just showed they are as corrupt as she is because when she threatened to reveal what she knew about them, they caved.
