NIKKI HALEY, DEMOCRATS MIX IT UP …
|| By FITSNEWS || We often refer to state government in South Carolina as “taxpayer-funded adult day care.” You know … with a $25 billion a year price tag.
Anyway, this week’s “public discourse” at the State House in Columbia, S.C. is further proof of how right we are.
At the center of the mix is S.C. governor Nikki Haley. After four years of going along with the status quo – advancing a fiscally liberal agenda on taxes, spending, education and (most notably) government-subsidized health care – Haley has decided to start mixing it up with lawmakers.
Is that a good thing? Well yes … and no.
Haley’s prior positions give her limited credibility when it comes to staking out new ideological ground. People simply don’t trust her.
But there are national aspirations to fuel, and lest anyone forget longtime Haley consultant Jon Lerner turned former S.C. governor Mark Sanford into a national prospect by repeatedly pitting him against the thin-skinned fiscal liberals in the S.C. General Assembly.
You know, until …
Anyway … Haley’s tit-for-tat with lawmakers escalated this week when the leading Democrat in the S.C. House of Representatives pointed out her hypocrisy on a borrowing bill. In addition to supporting a massive borrowing bill in 2013, Haley also supporting borrowing for corporate welfare king Boeing several years ago.
“Governor Haley is a hypocrite,” S.C. minority leader Todd Rutherford said. “Did she forget that she supported borrowing money for Boeing in 2010? Governor Haley is a selfish, vindictive narcissist who is more concerned about her own political ambitions than the state of South Carolina. It’s time for her to back off and let us do our jobs.”
Haley’s response? According to a local television station, her spokeswoman referred to Rutherford’s comment as “hate speech.”
Ha!
That prompted a swift rebuke …
“Hate speech is what Governor Haley’s supporters wrote on her Facebook page about the president,” one of Rutherford’s advisors fired back, referring to this story published in the aftermath of U.S. president Barack Obama‘s recent visit to the Palmetto State.
Advantage? Democrats …
Ordinarily, we’d be inclined to give Haley the benefit of the doubt on exchanges like this. Unfortunately she’s gone to the politically correct well one too many times in assailing her enemies (including fiscally conservative state Senator Katrina Shealy and longtime establishment GOP fundraiser John Rainey).
We support Haley’s newfound opposition to deficit spending … but she has no business playing the race card in responding to her opponents, irrespective of their petulance.
The debate deserves better than that …

FITS and Rutherford are like rapists who get in the courtroom and snear at their victim for testfying about what they did to her….
Filthy, Disguting maggots. ..

Haley and Obama!!!!
Illiterate Much?….LMAO….
Not as illiterate as you.
Vacant…
GrandTango = is it still hate speech when it’s pratically unreadable and makes little to no sense?
Empty…
Your head? Well, duh.
Now, you can’t even form another poorly written sentence? Maybe you just resort more naughty words misspelled with various punctuation marks.
“National aspirations?”
Hahahaha!
What you Republicans here in SC don’t “get” is that no Governor of SC who SUPPORTS flying a Confederate flag in front of the state Capitol,ie,Haley, is going to be on ANY Republican national ticket.
Oh, my bad.
I read it as “ASS-pirations”.
YOU BETCHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could see Erhardt from my house.
Tit for tat to dat, bruh.
Republicans in other states probably share a lot in common with Republicans of this state than they would like to admit.
Actually, Republicans in SC might be considered progressive relative to their “peers” in Texas and Oklahoma, who want to rewrite history textbooks. In Florida, the imbeciles want to pretend there is no such thing as climate change, and other Republicans have shown they have no respect for customs or the law by inviting Bibi to address Congress and writing a letter to Iran. A truly scary political party — one that believes it can simply ignore the law and conduct foreign policy from the legislative branch.
Correct assessment. Most Republicans in the SC legislature — as Will often points out — are fiscal liberals, social engineers, and left-leaning crony capitalists. They work hand-in hand with the majority of the Dems, regardless of the arguments they have publicly, “for show.” Increasingly, I don’t have a dog, or a pony, in that show.
If those are social engineers, they need to go back to school. SC appears at or near the bottom on a seemingly countless number of social and economic measures.
That is precisely the goal of Republican social engineering–the creation of one small wealthy class and a huge underclass consisting of everyone else. Just like in the feudal days of the 19th century.
Yes. Top-down class warfare.
The fact that a Republican congress stands up to the “I have a pen and a phone” man-child-in-chief should be a point of PRIDE to all Americans.
And you are a complete moron. Not only did they violate the law and arguably commit treason, they also screwed up foreign policy for other nations. Germany was diplomatic in stating the actions “were not helpful. Those 47 bozos have embarrassed the United States internationally, and people like you virtually guarantee it will happen again.
You don’t see ’em demanding that Southern Republicans denounce the party, that’s for sure.
The rest of the country barely knows where SC is, much less who any of it’s politicians are. We only remember the Crypt Keeper looking old fucker and the effeminate, country boy who dates McCain. Now, go back to fucking your sisters and being obese and keep it in your borders.
That would be funny, except for the fact that the American media constantly obsesses over SC. Lots of you “American People” may avoid it like the plague your European ancestors brought in that killed 90% of all native people before the American Revolution began, but you sure as hell know about it, and know where it is.
Uh, not sure what “media” is constantly obsessing over SC, but by all means, keep dreaming. Cute attempt at a history lesson too. Product of SC’s top notch education system, I presume?
And you are from….. where, exactly? I daresay wherever you hail from, it is far worse….
You supported a bitter-hateful Cop-Killer…and he’s trying to unilaterally rule the world…
Why should a harmless relic of history matter??
I support that. It’s called freedom of speech and is protected by the First, the Fourth and the Tenth Amendment … And The Second, too, if it comes to that.
“..lest anyone forget longtime Haley consultant Jon Lerner turned former S.C. governor Mark Sanford into a national prospect by repeatedly pitting him against the thin-skinned fiscal liberals in the S.C. General Assembly.”
In case you don’t pay attention, the MSM has considered one GOP governor after another as prime presidential material for decades because they never do the work to find out how ineffective and/or inept most of them are on the state level.
Jon Lerner ain’t got a thing to do with it.
Change the subject much….????
Hey FITS, 3 or 4 days ago…you advocated “legitimate outrage” against the police because it’s in vogue among certain Democrat special interest groups……
Last night, two policemen were GUNNED down in an Ambush after HATEFUL BIGOTS like you and Rutherford sided w/ the ignorant and rabid Hate Squads…who lied in an attempt to prosecute an innocent man, just because he is white…
When will you and Rutherford get down on your KNEES and beg forgiveness for the BLOOD on your Liberal, Race-hating hands???..Irresponsible, non-accountable B@$t@*ds…
Oh, now what happens in Fergyson is FITs’ fault. How about it’s Ferguson’s fault. Accountability is a beeeatch – eh?
Run from who, and what, you are Much….LMAO…
Never fails…liberals will march in the streets for it…but when it comes down, UGLY…like it always does…you disavow Jerry Sandusky…like you never knew him…
Actually, I never did. Can’t speak for anyone else.
I did see a headline recently that read “Sandusky Loves Cosby.”
I know it’s impossible for you, but find a neighbor to read the Ferguson Report to you. It’ll be like Fifty Shades of Grey for you dumb bigots.
Even Holder had to admit Willson was innocent. ..Dumb@$$…you’re delusional..And .racism is wrong even when YOU do it..@$$ hole..
It didn’t look like it was hurting Holder a bit to admit that Wilson was innocent. That’s because the weight of the report proved, beyond any doubt a sane person could possibly have, that community complaints against the Ferguson PD were absolutely justified — and then some.
When you’re a hateful and bitter, Democrat RACIST…like You…shooting cops down in the streets, because your puppet-master tell you it’s right, is “justified.”
Dumb@$$#$ will follow any Bull-S#!t, because you’re too F*#king stupid to think for yourself. You prove that…
And you’ll be the FIRST to ‘call the law’ when you see a Black Dude walking the streets of your lily-white burbs…you’re just that dull and isolated from reality.
Innocence and lack of evidence to prosecute are 2 different things, fucktard. But you’re too fucking stoooopid to understand sucn a simply concept. Don’t you have someone’s dick to suck?
Doesn’t anyone think that Fits and Todd Rutherford over use the word “hypocrite”.
Hardly anyone thinks “dept” is always a bad thing. Most of us use it, but we realize it can be bad if use for the wrong thing or in excess. So, Haley’s position is not really hypocritical.
Todd Rutherford can attack Haley’s position on an issue, but he crosses the line when attacks her personally questions her motives when he can’t possibly have any knowledge of them.
Same goes for people questioning Obama’s Christian faith or when Giuliani questions whether Obama loves this country.
I don’t expect commenters to follow the same principles, but we should expect it from public officials.
Todd Rutherford????
“Governor Haley is a hypocrite,” S.C. minority leader Todd Rutherford said.

‘When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall
I met him while he was making that short film. And again when it got released just after the democrat convention in Chicago in 1968.
A very decent guy, IMOP, but always seemed to have his thinking somewhere else/
Well HELL, we ain’t old yet.
The bride and I went to Duluth in January to see Seger.
The crowd was mostly our generation, 1951 and 1952.
Going to see Mellancamp in June, probably ’bout the same demographic.
Has FITS disintegrated into a LIBERALS only site…???
Hillary is the BIGGEST story in the country, except for the would-be Obama Cop-Killers…
And you people are F*#king stupid enough to take some idiot Democrat state lawmaker serious…
Whistling past the graveyard…Much???
Ever since Weiner Airhead and the estHoles started changing the definitions of words for their own greedy purposes of power and control, the “progressive” Fascists, manipulating the NOW gangs, confusing the clueless virgin media and taking pages from The Nazis and Woodrow Wilson, the Country’s lexicon has been perverted.
It’s all a part of the dumbing down of the government school system.
And never mind that race baiting is a two way street … please someone tell me what “corporatism” is.
It doesn’t matter. Nothing will change.
Hate speech how? As a white woman attacked by a black man? Or as a Sikh Indian?
