|| By FITSNEWS || If there’s one thing we appreciate it, it’s smart people who don’t necessarily agree with us …
Take Van Hipp – a former South Carolina “Republican” Party chairman and ex-Pentagon official who is currently heading up American Defense International, Inc. (ADI). For those of you unfamiliar with ADI, it’s a Washington, D.C.-based government relations, consulting and “business development” firm – one which operates at the epicenter of our nation’s military-industrial complex.
And yes, that “complex” is something this website has repeatedly criticized …
Nonetheless, you’ll be seeing ads on FITS in the coming days for Hipp’s new book, “The New Terrorism.” In fact Hipp will be appearing at the Palmetto Promise Institute this week to promote his book – the proceeds of which have been earmarked to a “Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund” Hipp has established.
Hipp’s Columbia, S.C. appearance will be held on Wednesday March 11 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. EDT at The Tower (1301 Gervais Street, First Floor Conf. Room). That same day, he’ll travel to the Leonard Auditorium (429 N Church St, Spartanburg, S.C.) on the campus of Wofford College for another appearance from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. EDT.
The following day, March 12, Hipp will travel to the Bruins Shop on the campus of Bob Jones University (1700 Wade Hampton Boulevard) for another event – this stop scheduled for 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EDT.
Check him out … whether we agree with him or not, there’s no doubting Hipp’s command of the subject matter at issue.
According to its promotional site, “The New Terrorism” is a user’s manual for identifying – and eliminating – threats against the American homeland. And for the effective prosecution of those posing those threats.
“Van Hipp discusses the full range of threats,” the site states. “Not just the constant threats of suicide bombers, airplane hijackings and odious beheadings, but the threats from military and cyber sources. He stresses the need to upgrade our missile defenses, protect ourselves from cyberattacks, and eliminate the dangers posed by our porous borders. He calls on our national leadership to rise to the challenges posed by these dangers, and to undertake the steps that will protect us all from these threats.”
Interesting … we look forward to purchasing Hipp’s book and reading it with an open mind.
Obviously, this website has consistently maintained that the best way to protect America’s security and prosperity is to radically rethink our country’s current, costly interventionist foreign policy – which has empowered our enemies while bankrupting current and future generations of taxpayers.
But that’s just our two cents … we welcome Hipp’s contribution to the discourse, and hope that in exploring his views we will not only learn more about where he is coming from, but learn more about our own position as well. And while there may be no grand Hegelian dialectic at the end of this conversation, we look forward to advancing the marketplace of ideas by participating in it.

Funny. Hipp used to be tight with your buddy, Larry Richter.
Little clarification:
a) Tight as in got drunk together
b) Tight as in damn Larry you are really tight tonight
c) Both of the above
d) None of the above
Tight as in was behind the scenes of Van’s congressional campaign. See History Lesson above.
He forgot to mention protection against EMP’s (be they from a nuke high in the atomsphere or from solar flares)
I love the first line to this article.
Fits must”love” lots of people!
Hipp was the leading candidate to succeed Arthur Ravenel as First District Congressman in 1994.
He led a multicandidate field but lost in the runoff to the Second place finisher,a then unknown fellow who ran some slick ads and advocated”change”( people love that word)named Mark Sanford.
And the saga began….
$$$ = Love. See I can be a republican kook too!
The whole article I was wondering, “what’s van Hipp’s first name??”
Van is his first name?? I love my 1992 Chevy G20 conversion van, but it never occured to me that you could name a son Van. Not even the Van Wilder movies tipped me off.
Now cut that out..!!
Not really OT:
A Brown-eyed Girl gave TBG some Tupelo Honey one night at a Moondance.
Well played, TBG.
I wonder if he plagarized Dick Cheney. Cheney said something recently about needing more bombs and bombers — not schools or roads. Van better stay away from Cheney. He might get shot in the face.
Nonetheless, you’ll be seeing ads on FITS in the coming days for Hipp’s new book, “The New Terrorism.”
*coughs* WHORE! *coughs*
Funny how memories fade. Isn’t this the same guy who was indicted in the mid 90s for money laundering for an internet porn business? Not that there is anything wrong with that…
convicted?
Federal charges, but never a trial. plea deal and probation.
