“ALL CLEAR” SOUNDED – MATERIAL SENT TO FBI, SCDHEC
|| By FITSNEWS || City of Columbia, S.C. police officers, fire department officers and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are investigating a “suspicious package” at the Matthew J. Perry federal courthouse.
The package has reportedly been “isolated” within the building and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) personnel have entered.
According to our sources, the early news is good … no radiation or “volatile organic compound” was detected by the entry team.
In fact we’re told the entry team was quickly able to remove “the remains of the suspicious material” from the building – transporting it to FBI and S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) officials for further analysis.
UPDATE: As of 1:06 p.m. EDT, the on-scene Columbia Fire Department (CFD) battalion chief has sounded the “all clear.”
