SEXIST SENATOR UNLEASHES POLITICAL PIT BULL …
|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. Senator Thomas Corbin‘s paid political consultant is vowing revenge against the lawmaker he believes humiliated his client on the national stage.
Kerry Wood – an Upstate, S.C. political operative and “Tea Party” organizer – has been attacking S.C. Senator Katrina Shealy on social media in recent weeks. In fact Shealy has reportedly had to block Wood from posting items on her personal Facebook page.
The rub? Last month’s bitter battle between Corbin and Shealy over his reference to females as “lesser cuts of meat.” Shealy is the only female member of the South Carolina State Senate, and Corbin had been needling her for months with offensive comments about how women should remain “at home baking cookies” or “barefoot and pregnant.”
Eventually he crossed the line … and Shealy fired back at him.
That story – which broke exclusively on FITS – prompted a national firestorm (as well as statewide media attention). The blowback on Corbin – no stranger to uneducated comments – was especially harsh seeing as it was made in reference to the ongoing debate over domestic violence legislation at the S.C. State House.
Corbin later apologized … but a few days later he blasted Shealy again for “(choosing) to be offended and (making) a big deal out of all this.”
According to campaign finance documents, Corbin has made multiple payments from his campaign account to “DHSG.” What’s that? It stands for “Dark Horse Strategy Group” – which is Wood’s political consulting firm.
Wood also leads a so-called “free market” organization – S.C. Citizens for a Free Market – which FITS recently exposed as nothing but a tool of the state’s liberal “Republican” establishment.
Gotta love those bought-and-paid-for “Tea Partiers,” right?
Beyond his political work, Wood’s only real claim to fame in the Palmetto State was this messy divorce from S.C. Rep. Donna Hicks – and his subsequent decision to run his own daughter as a candidate against his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Now he’s ramping up his attacks on Shealy, including this Facebook message attacking her for sponsoring a ceremonial resolution on behalf of the Girl Scouts of America.

In the comments section of his Girl Scouts post, Wood made it abundantly clear he was motivated to come after Shealy due to his love of Corbin.
“I am very proud to be close to (Corbin) and his family and ANYONE who actually knows him understands he is not as Katrina has painted him,” Wood wrote.
Really?
That’s pretty funny considering Corbin admitted making the sexist comments … and considering his sexist views are widely known at the S.C. State House (along with his lack of self-control in other areas).
Obviously Wood is entitled to his opinion about Shealy – even if his comments are little more than the reactionary rantings of a paid political hack. Here’s the thing, though: The last time we checked, Shealy was one of the only state lawmakers proposing real tax relief in the Palmetto State. In fact Shealy’s tax legislation is a broad-based individual income tax cut – with no corresponding tax hikes. That’s entirely consistent with the “free market” principles Wood’s organization claims to be advancing – yet he’s coming after her because she called out a sexist Senator?

In my dealings with Kerry Woods, I would not call him honest. Back during Operation Lost Vote, he was supposed to be helping get petition candidates on the ballot , with mention of a statewide campaign to educate voters. After asking a number of questions, I contributed to the cause. The only thing to my knowledge that came out of that was help for local candidates in his area, I did receive a button and bumper sticker. Other petition candidates were offered a boiler plate mailer that I could have created in word, but they had to pay for printing etc. It is my opinion, I was gamed.
You WERE gamed. These are not honest people…never have been. His plan to get Corbin elected was to lie about his primary opponent. That was all. It worked. Hell, just getting him into the primary took bending the rules. All because his opponent is missing that Y chromosome? Oh I forgot, “she’s a Dem”! LOL.
Don’t believe for a second that Wood ever really planned to do anything to help anyone except his cronies. Try to get a little info on DHSG. They’re pretty good at hiding.
Mentioning the Operation Lost Vote thing, when that all happened I did a lot of research. I live in district 5…Corbin’s district. You know that Corbin never filed an SEI for his Senate run? He filed an SEI for the House, but not the Senate. When he filed for the primary, if you believe anything he says, he filed in Spartanburg County…the law says you MUST file in your County of residence (he lives in Greenville County). Betty Poe was a good soldier to cover for him and was rewarded with a national job. Corbin never should have been allowed on the ballot…

I am not the least bit surprised and Corbin certainly wasn’t a candidate I trying to help get on the ballot. I don’t know for a fact, but I am pretty sure that Karen Martin, head of SBTP (Spartanburg Tea Party) is somehow connected to DHSG.
She was supposedly heavily vested in OLV and then turned on the only person who actually did try to do anything to help petition candidates, in some kind of power grab. Notice on the comments section from FB who is the first person to comment on his (Kerry Wood) thread?
It was also heavily rumored that some of the funds they took in for OLV went to pay for Karen Martin to go around getting petition signatures. That is a rumor, but based on what I saw – easy to believe. Yet, they begged for volunteers smh.
If you look at the bottom of the STP website, you’ll see that it is by Myriad IT…you guessed it, Kerry Woods imaginary IT business. I can’t link her directly to DHSG though…
Very difficult to do, but another political consultant who is also commenting on that thread linked above, directly questioned her about it on FB. Her response was interesting, while I can’t recall the exact words she used, when I read them, I found them very suspicious. I was also forwarded a copy of the template which raised a lot of questions. Karen was the one who managed the OLV website, however, it was Kerry who reached out to me. I also found that interesting, but it wasn’t until much later I saw the comments on FB.
There were a bunch of us involved in OLV, some were close friends with KM, and had contributed a LOT of their time. There was an “office” they set up, volunteers helped paint it. Volunteers also did BBQs to raise funds. Many of us helped get signatures and made cash contributions.
After OLV, those who contributed the most, started separating themselves from her. She started attacking some. One was a long time friend and strong supporter of KM. Not sure what happened, but the comment was something along the lines of being deceived but never again.
Many of these people I met in person, including KM.
Also, think about it….if you were a TP Leader, working directly with a political consultant to get his candidates elected, would you make it difficult to connect? Speculation, but …

I am sure I could look it up in seconds, but would really like your input, you seem close to the source.
Roger Nutt (Frank Nutt’s father) was the developer & manager of “Brookside Village” on the west side of Spartanburg County. it started out back in the mid 70’s as a moderate priced housing developement and included its own sewage treatment system (called “package plants” in the waste treatment industry).
Over time the developement turned into one of the worst eyesores on the west side and the “package plant” fell into disrepair and neglect even though Roger touted himself as one hell of an engineer and developer. In fact he was voted as “small businessman of the year” around the time that he was on Spartanburg County Council. DHEC fined the shit out of Nutt’s developement because the system was discharging untreated shit straight into the Middle Tyger River. When the treatment plant was operational, Roger needed a licensed operator to run the system on a part-time basis. Someone told me that he was looking for someone with wastewater and other waste treatment experience and i met with him. I looked over the system and gave him a price that was standard for that type of work. Roger went asshole on me and said he could find someone at half the price. I said fine and left it at. As posted above, the plant literally turned into shit and eventually the Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District took it over I used to get a chuckle when i would see those billboards about Roger getting the award
Flash forward and now Roger’s son Frank is an engineer and occupies the same position as his father on Spartanburg County Council. From what I have read on this and other sites concerning Frank Nutt it appears that the apple really does not fall far from the tree.

The more I find out about Karen Martin and her desire to turn Spartanburg County into a fiefdom for the hard right by way of “redistricting” the more the STP appears insidious. You’ve got to watch every step they make and they are not to be taken lightly.
They’ve got Corbin,Bright and Martin firmly in their grasps for sure.
That being said, unless independents and other like minded people get off their asses and vote, the wingnuts will create their version of a conservative “caliphate” and it won’t be a good thing.

I have been watching Kerry and other “political consultants” for years. They are not particularly smart people, but they will do ANYTHING for money, so trashing people, investigating people, creating fake websites and other “blacks ops” efforts are what they love to do. After all, honest people would not do that so they fill a void.

I have been to meeting that KM attended, but I have NEVER been to STP meeting. The meeting I went to was one that Talbert Black, Harry Kibler and Ashley Landess hosted. Karen also attended.
Yes, it is my opinion she would want a confrontation. She comes across as a bully! I left her TP site on FB because I was sick of listening to her rants. She seems to have a very high opinion of herself. I was especially disappointed when she went after Kibler, who IMO was the only one truly trying to help get people on the ballot and was doing it on his own dime.

There was really only one person who had the guts to try and actually “fix” the ballot mess in 2012 and not just try, after the fact, to get people on the ballot as independents. Took it to the state Supreme Court. Tried to have everyone put back on the ballot. IIRC, her argument was rather convoluted…her lawyer dropped the ball on that one, IMO. At least she tried, unlike pretty much everyone else. Of course she was roundly trashed for the effort…because she was supposedly a “RINO” (LMAO).
Harry Kibler made an effort, he was every where trying to get signatures and inform people. If recall correctly, he supported getting everyone, even the so-called RINOs on the ballot.

Somers. From Greer. She wasn’t kicked off the ballot, but tried to help everyone else out through the courts. We would be much better off in District 5 with her in Corbin’s seat, IMO. Seems that she was more interested in doing “what’s right” rather than tow the party line…hence the attacks from the R’s. Yeah, it was Kincannon…probably not the best decision using him.

C’mon. Let your common sense prevail. If that part that was printed as FACT yesterday was SO WRONG it was deleted today … can anything in this article be considered anything other than foolish dreck? Is there anyone with a lick of common sense who can see ANY link between me and Hugh Leatherman except the secret source and Mr. Sparkle City?
It doesn’t take much to rile them up. Just say something like “I’m not sure that your version of “school choice” is the 100% best idea out there.” Or you could say “I’m not positive 100% that Tom Corbin is the best person to represent the Dark Corner”. To her credit, KM does allow some dissenting opinion on the site, but you’ll get sharply criticized.
For the record, I don’t “dislike” Karen. Mostly she seems to be sincere in her beliefs and I can respect that. I showed up for a couple of their meetings back in 2012 but quickly found out that their emphasis went from taxes to ultra-conservative social issues…which I can’t deal with. I check out her site from time-to-time as she is very good at posting info on the SC legislature and what they’re up to. I just have to avoid the right-wing social stuff.
I do “dislike” Kerry/Corbin, though I haven’t had any contact with them since the 2012 election cycle. There are very few people that I’m simply uncomfortable around…they give me the heebie-jeebies, like Roan Garcia-Quintana…just slimy. In the past I’ve been comfortable contacting my state senators (Verne Smith, Phil Shoopman) and discussing issues with them, but not any more. Of course, Shoopman gave us Corbin so I can’t respect him any more.
I’m hearing that people are recruiting someone to challenge Corbin. I can only hope…
Sharply criticized is a nice way of putting it. In the past she removed people, I think she only allows some dissent because her tiny group was diminishing and many in the group aren’t even in Spartanburg – at least weren’t, I have been off FB for a good while.
I do not consider her the least bit sincere in her beliefs. She works with someone one day and publicly bashes them the next.

The Shoopman/Corbin thing – you are absolutely spot on. I remember when Shoopman handed Corbin his slot on a silver platter and I truly believe that was a 3 way deal between those two and that slime Lee Bright (who WAS my senator before the “redistricting”) – I personally know some of his close relatives and even they won’t vote for him.
I talked to Corbin once and that was enough for me. I wouldn’t want him having my back if the shit hit the fan. I know he would do one of two things: stab me in the back or cut and run.
I don’t blame the good poeple of TR which is a really nice area but i do blame the dipshits who voted him into office and it was solely because he had a “R” on the ballot insteqad of something else.

Again, you and “Tangerene” know a whole lot more about the goings & comings of a lot of this bunch than i do. Since i am a proud independent i did not have a dog in the OLV situation so i stayed out of it. But it looks to me that it brought more bad out of people than it did good.
Agree with all of this. FWIW, I am solidly Independent as well, but as you know, the R’s run this area so we have to keep tabs on them…
No doubt that every dog has its day and Karma can be a bitch in heat.

Do you have a list of those conservative candidates? I typically support the same candidates that Harry Kibler does. I vetted my own candidates and then started looking at his list and low and behold we were digging up the same candidates….LOL.
My key question is, will this include advertising that educates voters to look for petition candidates? That is the hardest message to get out and getting people to pay attention when they are voting NOT to vote straight ticket.

We have one person who is working to get a complete list of all petition candidates – she is not quite finished but is getting close. We are working on our survey and as soon as she has her list completed, we will send the survey to all. They must return the surveys by August 18th and then we COULD post which candidates but we have to be careful with that to stay of legal trouble but we will find a way to get it out there.
We are ONLY about education – we have to be very careful not to directly endorse, say VOTE FOR or VOTE AGAINST anyone. We know the other side will not hesitate to drag us into court if they can find a reason and shut us down if they can. SORRY but given the current climate we have to be especially careful.
We have a system – we will know who to target to educate and who not to. I ran six races for the June 12 Primary and won five out of my six.
We have been asking for volunteers – come hang out, help get our office put together, and show up for the grand opening on the 18th – the more you get involved, the more you will learn about what we have going on.

Lots of random comments on this post, but still no denial from Kerry Woods or Karen Martin abut the central point, which is, that they do they work for Leatherman and his RINO friends.
The more they squeal about small, insignificant issues, the more you know they are guilty as charged.
Money is what has corrupted the liberty movement. RINO’s bought Kerry and Karen and many others in leadership. We were betrayed.

As long as she’s just teasing tea partiers with the promise of tax relief, she remains one of my heroes. She has promoted the police state by taking guns away from people who have been arbitrarily deemed to be unfit–both veterans and people just accused of criminal domestic violence. She has voted for every taxpayer giveaway to huge corporations. What’s not to like?
I am still waiting for Karen Martin and Kerry Wood to deny the accusation.
