Why not just ENFORCE the current law???..

When liberals identify a Cause-de-Jour, way too many easily-led Republicans jump on the pop culture band wagon….And have weak-minded dolts like FITS joining in….

It saddens me to see Sen. Katrina Shealy getting all caught up in this man vs woman crap….I’m afraid she is beginning to dig herself a little too much thanks to all the gender-side-choosing…

We ALL hate the actions of CRIMINALS…we always have. It’s the Democrats, and trial lawyers letting killers (like OJ) walk free despite guilt…and violence toward women (See Bill Clinton)….

Democrats must keep women hating men, blacks hating whites, taker hating producer, young hating contributor and irresponsible hating responsible…etc…

Why does the GOP fall for this bogus Bull-S#!t….????

Because instead of promoting and advocating for conservatism, they are more worried about protecting the party platform and how it’s perceived. This has been explained to you before and is part FITS disdain for liberal “Republicans” that you so often criticize him for. Yeah, yeah…I know..FITS isn’t a conservative, but he stills share the same disdain for failed liberal policies. You can at least throw him a bone for that and cut out the nonsense of comparing him to the communist sympathizers.

The current law allows a man to hospitalize the woman in his life twice before it becomes a felony on the third attempt on her life. It’s a total failure by both parties and the backwoods thinking of SC.

You have a record of acting on misguided emotion, ignorance and hate.

The fact you promote it, means it is perverted. For you to agree w/ any Republican is a F*#king disgrace to that Republican…

Not trying to be offensive. That’s just the truth…

“African Americans, especially African American Women, suffer deadly violence from family members at rates decidedly higher than for other racial groups in the United States. However, it is observed that research concerning family violence among African Americans is inadequate.”

SCBlueWoman February 26, 2015 at 11:55 am

It is based more on socio-economic status. African Americans have more poverty and rates are higher among the poor. Same research that you are quoting.

Jackie Chiles February 26, 2015 at 12:00 pm

(Insists criminal justice system is discriminating against blacks by arguing that more black males are poor and, therefore, resort to crime or dealing drugs to make a living; simultaneously argues that a CDV law that disproportionately jails mostly poor people, and, therefore, black males, is not discrimination)

Enforce the current law ? Are you crazy ? Politicians have to “do something”. “Shoot something at somebody”, “Pass a new law.” Otherwise the uninformed voters would see them for what they are. There is a bill somewhere in the system that sunsets all rules every so many years. They have to be brought back and be voted on again. That in and of itself should keep them busy enough so they don’t have time to screw up other new things. Great idea. There are still obscure laws on the books from the 1800s that some smart lawyers use to win cases today. Sadly it’s not just Dims.

BINGO….Passing more legislation will not keep one mis-guided girl from laying w/ some dangerous animal…

Mommy and Daddy…along w/ Christian teaching will help…but the pop culture and liberals hate hearing that individuals may be able to address this problem themselves…w/ the help of God and a respect for morality…

They’d rather blame people they hate…or act like government idiots can help…

Reply
BinxBolling February 26, 2015 at 1:53 pm

Okay then. I’m just saying, all they’re trying to do is create a mechanism for enforcing already existing laws, like you suggested. If you want throw out the idea because OMG NO FEDERAL!! that’s fine by me. The legislators will vote how they vote and we’ll see how it goes…I’m amazed they’re even talking about something like DV after decades of ignoring the issue altogether.

And I don’t think anyone would claim this type of legislation will “fix” anything. It’s a step in the right direction. One of many changes necessary. Anyone who suggest otherwise is foolish — it’s a complicated issue.

Reply
GrandTango February 26, 2015 at 1:58 pm

DV is a CRIME!!!!….You’re acting like if we don’t put on a F*#king show about it, so politicians can pat themselves on the back…while the leftist media applauds. were in the Dark Ages.
You have to be one Simple-minded F*#k to think passing this law is a way to prove we’re not IGNORING DV…
The problem is the deterioration of society, and the lack of morality and responsibility. Pass a law to hold Democrats Responsible, and you may be on to something…otherwise you’re just another pack-think-lockstep idiot…

BinxBolling February 26, 2015 at 2:13 pm

I’m not sure how you got that from what I’ve posted. Did I say domestic violence is not a crime? I don’t care if there’s a show. I don’t care for politicians in general.

I guess I’m not explaining myself well. I don’t think we’re in the dark ages…no matter how this shakes out. But the rest of this stuff — railing against the leftist (or rightist?) media, fed govt., whatever isn’t really my thing so I’ll leave it at that. I guess I’m one of your pack-think idiots? Haha that’s honestly pretty funny. Thanks for that and best of luck.

SC must lead the nation in murder-suicides, almost always with the male as the trigger man. Another one in the news today in Belton. Corbin had an opinion piece in the paper today about balancing due process (taking away gun rights) with protecting victims/potential victims. He spotted this issues, but I’m not sure Corbin should be the spokesman for anything that involves balancing rights, nuance, etc. Maybe he could be a spokesman for an all you can eat, males only, chinese buffet……

Ridiculous waste of time: and just a big political show.
It won’t do a damn thing to stop domestic violence.
The people who do that, aren’t thinking about any laws.

If they really wanted to do something, then fix our State’s rotten divorce laws.
SC is in the top 5 worse places to get a divorce in the entire United States.
It takes over 18 months on average to get a no fault divorce.
That’s insane.
Most States take about 90 days or less.

Forcing people who hate each other to stay together creates domestic violence.

Those clowns have to justify their position in the scheme of the plathora of Gruberment scams … so they work up a bill that might get some positive PR and waste some steam with the insignificant minority who think this spew is a good idea … Nobody can object to more laws re: “domestic violence”, right?

Would you like to vote against it knowing that you might piss off a few hundred voters?

You guys who are hung up on the 2nd Amendment aspect of this law, I’m curious…is there any kind of violent crimes where you believe a convicted criminal should have his/her possession of a gun restricted?

Reply
That's What I Said February 26, 2015 at 2:59 pm

If there is actual violence with “real” injury or threat of violence with a gun or knife, fine. A bruise or a superficial scratch or red mark from pushing someone out of the way or a dirty look; no.

Reply
Purple Rain February 27, 2015 at 12:28 am

I don’t think gun restriction is the answer. I strongly believe we need stronger mental health clinics. People who do stupid crap need help and can change “sometimes” why restrict all their rights? Particularly the young?

I agree the bill does little to prevent CDV, however, I disagree in the case of capital punishment linked in. I refuse to believe that some are beyond help. I in no way support the death penalty. It is cheaper and far more humane to commit them to prison for life than it is to try to put them to death. What is the death penalty for? Vengeance? Anger? That isn’t bringing anyone back from the dead.

Mental Health may be the answer in cases like this. Yes, SC does seem to lead the nation or at least in the pack, for CDV but it also has to do with prejudices, divorce laws, and in general outdated legislation. People do change, why not spend more time revisiting divorce laws vs. taking away rights.

Kudos to the Senate for passing a bill that will make (ex)wifebeaters like Curtis Loftis think twice before they strike a woman again. Even getting arrested hasn’t prevented him from bullying women in the workplace – even if they don’t work for him.

Those entrusted with the investigation and prosecution of CDV offenses need much, much more training. 90% of CDV complaints are bogus; the remaining 10% can be homicidally dangerous. Problem is, those responsible for the investigation and prosecution do not understand how to differentiate between the two. An arrest alone can result in utter destruction of an innocent person’s reputation, job or career loss and untold legal expenses. With the various penalties now in place that abrogate 2nd Amendment rights, it is even more important that the aforementioned be adhered to. I speak from personal experience. Mr. House Member, Mr. Senator: utilize the utmost caution in pursuing this legislation.

3 Fingers February 28, 2015 at 4:02 pm

A word of caution: Be careful, very careful about what you post concerning CDV. I had a post taken completely out of context which cost me in excess of 150,000.00 ordered by a judge who had not a clue what he was doing. Or, maybe he did. Be careful.
