Try this experiment and let me know how it turns out. The next nice Spring day we have, go outside around Noon. Now stand in the sun for say 30 minutes. Check to see if you sweat. Then, take a large black plastic tarp, and pull it over you. Let’s pretend that’s green house gases. Now, stay under the tarp for 30 minutes in the Sun. Now check to see if you sweat. Record the results and let us know what happens. And remember, that plastic tarp is man-made.

Your “plastic tarp experiment” while an interesting thought is so flawed in design that it’s laughable. If we could drag said tarp over the Earth’s Exosphere you might have an experiment worth conducting but you can’t so it isn’t. The net effect of the increase of green house gases is a slight rise in temperature so to be offset by the uptake of said greenhouse gases by the oceans and vegetation followed by a slight decline in the Earth’s temperature. – that cycle has been going on since “Adam and Eve walked out of the garden” or “Groomph oozed out of the primordial swamp” – take your pick for which model you prefer.
Rocky. Actually the “Atmospheric Heat Trap” which is the proper term rather
than the misused term “Greenhouse effect”, actually works quite
differently. The true greenhouse effect works by restricting air
movement (convection) which would be the case in your plastic bag
example. It’s also the reason why you need an air/vapor barrier along
with insulation in your home to help maintain warmth (winter) or
coolness (summer).
Obviously, air movement is not being restricted across the entire globe thus there is little or no actual “greenhouse” effect.
To
this point, there have been no conclusive experiments or credible
papers presented which suggest that carbon dioxide has any significant
effect on increasing global temperatures. In fact, if there is a
relationship, it might be that the opposite is true as major increases
in carbon dioxide (not to be confused with carbon) have actually
followed increases in global temperatures, sometime by as much as 800
years according so some studies.
Now, here’s an idea for you to try.
Assuming that you are in the northern hemisphere where it is now cool to
very cold, gather as many friends as you can and by whatever means you
wish, see if you can produce enough carbon dioxide to increase your
state’s/province’s consistent temperature over 20 degrees Celsius within
the next few days.
Now, as a control to your experiment, notice that
as the sun will increasingly appear more overhead in our northern skies
over the next few months. As the earth tilts on its axis, the rays of
the sun will strike our land surfaces more directly. When the incoming
fast-moving short-wave radiation reaches the ground it is converted into
slower moving long-wave infrared radiation will be trapped to some
extent by the earth’s atmosphere thus warming our surroundings. In other
words our immediate lower atmosphere becomes warmer and warmer.
Time to check out your experiment. Which scenario had the greatest influence on warming in your region?

It’s fairly simple. Throughout the Earth’s history, it has gone through cycles that dramatically resemble the one we’re going through now – some have even shorter term spikes in warming or cooling (meaning the change came about in a very short period of time).
The geologic evidence of these changes abounds, one need only look at the South Carolina Sand Hills to understand that the oceans have been far deeper than they are now. Out west, there are innumerable lakes carved by proceeding and retreating glaciers and glacial debris covers the landscape. From this unimpeachable evidence, we can see that these “climate changes” have occurred with some regularity and on multiple occasions.
With that said, why would anyone think that our activity has much to do with it? Were we around to start the runoff that carved the Grand Canyon or the Ice sheet that covered the continental US so deeply that the weight compressed the ground so far that post glacial rebounding it is still occurring to this day?

Sure the earth will survive when oceans are higher and the planet is warmer. Clearly geologic evidence shows that our world was very different than it was in the past. So what?
BUT, will people be able to live in that world? When the global human population is wiped out and our economy no longer exists you can spend your time patting yourself on the back.
Will we survive? Who knows. The point is that you didn’t start the climate change and you can’t do anything about it. So if that’s the case, consider who wants you to believe that you are killing the planet and what do they have to gain from it.
Also consider who wants you to believe that a couple million years ago it was warm so it must be not our fault this time. That is faulty logic.
The parallels of climate denialism and smoking causing cancer denialism are uncanny. Each time big industry with truckloads of money decided to create doubt so weak minds could just say “nobody knows” while they killed themselves and people around them. Just in case you weren’t sure, I am lumping you in with the weak minds.
It is not faulty logic when the same cycle keeps repeating itself as it has at least five times with almost identical factors.
I’m not paid any money by anybody to deny or confirm anything. I simply look at the data available and make my assessment.
It is faulty logic to assume that the cause of something today is the same cause of something in the past. It might be true but it might not be. They could have different causes entirely. The speed with which the current change is occurring is the red flag suggesting that they have different causes.
I am suggesting that big industry is paying a ton of money to create fake doubt. Just ask Willie Soon. This fake doubt allows weak people to keep doing what they are comfortable doing (smoking or spitting out carbon dioxide) and give them an excuse for their stupid and destructive behavior.

How about one day with big hemp, which is a potential healthier alternative to oil. Yeah, it can be made into plastic like products, metals, fuel, paper, rope, cotton like material, and other products. It’s the most versatile plant in the world. Plastic in the oceans is making it more acidic, thus making fish less safe to eat because they are ingesting the small degraded pellets that plastic turns into in the sea. I wouldn’t trust eating fish if my life depended on it right now, it’s just too risky. But sure, go ahead and be fearful that we as a nation aren’t strong enough to get off of oil. That just shows how weak we truly are.
Also, why start growing hemp? It’s super easy to grow, it grows like a weed, and it’s a viable resource for American farmers to get back on track and make some money. We wouldn’t NEED Saudi interests, we wouldn’t need to start false wars over oil interests, and those billionaires can still keep their products. But we live in America, and killing everything in sight is the only sane, reasonable, and humane thing to do.

There have been bibles that were bound and printed using hemp. Hemp hasn’t been criminalized except for the past century, so if you have a family Bible that’s an heirloom of some sort, it’s probably made of hemp. We’ve got books that are over a hundred years old at the house that are in fine to good condition, yet we have paperbacks that are falling apart at the seams in 20 years. No, hemp’s value isn’t exaggerated. It’s just that nobody has grown hemp in so long, that they can’t set a market price for it. There’s no economic backing of hemp, so people couldn’t place value on it. Honestly, it’s the most versatile plant on the planet. It can be used to make hundreds of products that could virtually replace paper and petroleum. It’s all natural, non-toxic, and safe to consume if swallowed. It can even be used as a non-intoxicating food source: cooking oil, pastes, and bases. It could change the way the world works, and for the better. That’s just my opinion though. I am fairly certain that hemp was one of the three crops that the US Department of Agriculture’s experiment station at Florence, SC, was built to promote. Around 1900 I believe.

That’s part of why it’s so great. It grows fast, rampant, and is easily replaced. Oil won’t be here forever, and I just don’t electric and hybrid going anywhere. Clean fuel, efficient product, it replenishes fast, and in a vast array of climates.

For the record, hemp makes lousy rope. Manila, sometime called manila hemp is far superior but isn’t made of hemp at all. It’s a product of the leave of the Abaca plant (musa textilis). It’s called Manila in reference to one of the area of major production, the Philippines. The “manila hemp” name came about because at one time almost all cordage was in fact hemp. There is very little modern use for natural fiber cordage.

I think supertankers are far more dangerous than pipelines…spilled oil is very detrimental in the oceans and far more difficult to deal with. My research says the Earth is far more dangerous to itself than we are. Volcanism, plate tectonics and the associated earth quakes are far more deadly than all of man’s peaceful endeavors.

Clair Patterson, a Geochemist who found a neurotoxin in lead, and fought the oil industry for years to get lead out of gasoline. The oil industry used paid scientists with fake information in order to continue to use lead in the gasoline because it made gasoline cheaper. Eventually Patterson won his case, but not after years of torment and scrutiny from the scientific community.

All we know right now is that the Earth is warmed 1.5 degrees in the last 100 years. (and that has happened before)

Well first of all, the modeling of the weather systems is far more complex than the shape of Earth or deducing the age of it.
It’s not even close.
The issue of where we came from has not been sorted out and how we evolved is still not known…which says a lot…especially because the “science” surrounding our existence seems a whole lot less complex than the issue of our global climate.
Well those processes were not brought about by government … Each and every one were brought about by individual scientists and inventors looking for better ways than government central planning.
Btw: a thousand years ago the Earth was so warm, Greenland was actually green.

I’m fairly certain that no one here is an atmospheric scientist, also coupled with the knowledge of sun cycles, oceanic currents, polar ice models, etc. et al….it’s best to remain skeptical on everything until the evidence is overwhelming…and it’s not(for now).

Who knows, but my point is that there are lots of disciplines required with years of advanced study in each just to have an opinion that someone could even begin to take seriously…and even those people might not have enough overall knowledge to make such opinions well qualified….

We are still infants technologically in many areas, including climate science.
