AND RICK SANTORUM GOT RILED UP …
|| By FITSNEWS || He hasn’t decided whether to run for president, but billionaire real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump is armed for a “revolution.”
During an appearance this weekend at The Citadel – South Carolina’s military college – Trump and U.S. Senator Tim Scott were presented with replicas of Revolutionary War-era muskets. The guns were gifts from The Citadel Republican Society, which honored Trump and Scott at its annual Patriot Dinner fundraising event.
Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum – another would-be presidential contender – also attended the event and addressed the crowd. But he didn’t get a musket.
According to one guest, Trump’s speech was “business related, motivational.”
Santorum’s remarks? We’ll have a report on them momentarily, but apparently it’s a good thing he didn’t have a gun in his hand when he was speaking because his comments were reportedly over the top in their support for America’s failed (and incredibly costly) policy of global interventionism.
Which, sadly, appears to be “trending.”
Scott also addressed the crowd, but his comments were described as “tame” – focusing on conservative angst with U.S. president Barack Obama‘s socialized medicine law and the 2013 scandal at the Internal Revenue Service.

No musket for Pork Chop – why? Why?
Hearing Donald Trump ponder running for President is about as newsworthy as Jesse Jackson pondering to run for President. The only intentions they have are to get their name in headlines.
Technically Jesse Jackson won the vote in South Carolina when he did run so actually you are making Trump look good.
Shortly after the South Carolina primary, Jesse’s campaign changed their mantra from “Run Jesse, Run” to “Duck Jesse, Duck”…
The finish on the musket matches his hair though.
His point is well taken…perhaps Rev. Al would be a better example.
I believe it is because he got one last year.
Arrogant-ass sumbitch.
Sucking up to Trump. Could there be a sadder existence?
I bet I would have more fun at a funeral…
As a Citadel Grad, I am becoming more and more alarmed at how the Right Wing Republican party is taking over The Citadel. A military school should never have political parties on campus. We never had them when I attended the Citadel and we should not have them now.
The Citadel can have greater issues speakers, and debating society’s, but to allow out right political party espionage on a military school campus is dangerous to the very core of our society.
In the past, The Citadel had many different political beliefs and the Corp of Cadets surely expounded on them. We even sang Country Joe and Fish’s song: “1, 2, 3 What Are We Fighting For,” right in the middle of a parade held for the head of the US Marine Corp in 1970 at the height of the Vietnam War.
To have Republican or Democrat political party influence at a Military School is very similar to: The Nazis Party members in the Military, or the Communist Party Members controlling the Russian Army in battle in the past.
If The Citadel President and Board of Visitors do not do something about this outrageous behavior on public property; then they should all be replaced.
Whaaaaaa!!!!!
Maybe you should write a letter telling them to invite Obama or Biden down for a visit.
So you’re in a military college, and sang liberal hippy songs (the same liberal hippies that spit on returning soldiers) during a visit of one of the country’s top military leaders during a time of war? If I were Commandant, you’d likely just now be finishing up your punishment of scrubbing toilets with your toothbrush.
Squishing get real. This is a bunch of kids playing soldier.
We were not playing soldier.
I spent a lot of time training with the 82nd, making parachute drops, and full infantry even special forces training.
We were training to kill people in mass numbers.
The only exception is that when we finished our training we went back to Charleston. While the people we were training with went to Vietnam directly.
They don’t train like that anymore.
I’m not against Trump being a public speaker, or even invited to speak to the Corp. I’m against any type of political control being allowed into any type of Military Training Facility, College, Camp, etc.: EVER!
An institution originally founded to quell potential slave revolts is endorsing right wing political candidates? Say it ain’t so! ;-)
Are talking about the 2nd Amendment?
The Citadel was never formed to Quell Slave Revolts!!!
It was founded in Columbia at the present site of the Governor’s Mansion to guard the State Militia’s Arsenal that was located on Arsenal Hill.
The only time The Citadel did anything of military note as a college was to defend Charleston against Sherman.
Let’ not invent facts to suit our preconceived ideas about how we wanted history to be.
Facts, they just get in the way of fantasy…. Just skip to the bottom. I’m sure reading isn’t your strong suit.

Nor is writing yours.
All Scott can come up with is safe distractions and fluff on Obamacare to put on the theatre of “I’m serious about this”–but not serious enough to offer real alternatives–just like his party
Rakkasan doesn’t it seem interesting that the great state of South Carolina appears to be the only state that may have two gay senators????
