THE LATEST ON AMERICA’S “EXECUTIVE AMNESTY” DEBATE …
|| By FITSNEWS || A new poll shows “Republicans” in Congress would bear the blame if a funding deal for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) falls through … although its findings seem at odds with data released less than three weeks ago.
According to a new CNN/ORC poll, 53 percent of respondents say the GOP would bear responsibility in the event a DHS deal isn’t cut – while only 30 percent would blame the administration of Barack Obama. Meanwhile 13 percent would blame both sides equally.
Sound familiar? It should … this is the same poll that pops up every time a government program is on the chopping block. And it always shows the same result.
The U.S. House voted last month to defund the executive amnesty provisions of the DHS budget – which is set to expire on February 28 (the agency was excluded from the broader “budget betrayal” approved last December by a lame duck Congress).
But is the GOP really reaping a whirlwind?
No. For starters, the latest CNN/ORC numbers don’t mesh with a late January study from Paragon Insights. According to that survey, 58 percent of registered voters opposed Obama’s executive amnesty – while 53 percent supported efforts to defund it.
Support for defunding Obama’s amnesty is especially high among GOP voters – with 81 percent backing congressional efforts to strip it from the budget.
Conservatives? They are even more adamant on the issue … as they should be.
That means lawmakers can (and should) be similarly adamant … knowing they have the full backing of not only their party, but its most motivated backers.
As we’ve said from the beginning of this debate, we don’t necessarily disagree with some of what Obama is attempting to do via his orders. But whatever one thinks of the substance of the proposals, presidents simply do not have the authority to arbitrarily change governing statues or create and fund new programs. Those are legislative obligations which fall well outside the scope of executive constitutional responsibility.
“Obama’s latest edicts – no matter what one may think of them – do further damage to the foundations upon which America was built,” we wrote last fall.
Now … will congressional “Republicans” succeed in this effort?
Don’t hold your breath …

Vote and change ‘fillbuster’ rule like Reid did on appointments to 50 votes needed.
Pass it without illegal immigration funding. Let Obama veto it. Political loser for Dems.
Courts will block illegal immigration and end Obamacare in June (exchanges).
Every time one of these manufactured ‘crisis’ by the media occur and the polling data says Republicans will be blamed they end up winning the house, senate, governorships and hundreds of state legislature seats.
Now that gay marriage is legal, I can marry my life partner Flip and get citizenship!
Blame one party or the other?
Last time I checked, they were ALL useless and incapable of producing results.
Are you masturbating again?
Why are you interested?
Are you trying to see if you can help her?
I would like to invite all of my friends on FITS to join ‘all of us’ at Chief’s Wings & Firewater for a time of fellowship. One of beach music’s finest bands, The Band of Oz, perform- beginning at 3:00 P.M. .
I’ll totally be there, can’t wait!
code word: impeachment
That is one weird safe word.
Sounds great. We can sit around in silence, Internet devices in hand and troll each other on FitsNews.com.
Hee hee, you said devices in hand.
daddy, why do you talk so filthy?
Because your Uncles Flip and Grand Tango had a bad influence on me.
How about this approach: Let’s have Congress openly debate immigration reform, write legislation, and then vote it up or down. The president could contribute to the process through meetings between WH staff and committee members or via Democrats in the House and Senate. Then Congress could pass a straight-forward budget bill to pay for the Dept of Homeland Security. That’s the way it used to work. But then, the entire kerfluffle couldn’t be used to pander, pose, and fund-raise — which it seems are all our Congress can do anymore. What am I saying? That wouldn’t work. It would be too much like governing.
Open debates and up/down votes? You expect congressmen to do their jobs?
You dems always want too deal when you lose power however when you do have any power you like to shove it right up the ass of the American people with your lawlessness.
Won’t be an dealing.
Thanks for being in our corner! We worked hard to get these seats because we heard the pay is great and all we have to do is blow hot air up our constituents’ asses every now and then. That asshole was trying to spoil it for us!
Try Russia or Iran and see how it works for ya!
Yes, another one of our tactics! When the people get mad at us for not doing our jobs we just point to whatever country they don’t like and distract them until they forget about it! Works every time!
Russia and Iran are places in which important issues are not debated openly and given a public up or down vote. Thanks for making my point.
Flip would probably like Russia.
They are spot on that gay marriage thing.
Ever attend a Democrat National Convention when they boo God?
I’ve been to a Republican primary debate where they boo the Golden Rule.
Who will be the Keynote speaker for Dems in Philadelphia: the Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei or Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi?
Maybe they can get that Hindu from SC?
You mean the Sikh? No, Methodist. Sikh? Methodist? It depends on where and when. A Methodist in Gooberville, SC, but a Sikh when paying obeisance in the temple in India.
Can we just box you up and send you to Iran to meet him personally?
Last time I checked the GOP controls both houses of Congress. That’s the deal. They won, now let them legislate. If they don’t want to cooperate with the president to achieve a workable solution, then let them pass a bill that will either be vetoed or be strong enough to generate a super-majority. Instead: they do nothing except posture.
We just kicked your ass.Elections have consequences-Barack Obama
No deal.
Are you sure you elected “republicans”?
that’s probably what he wants
Who’s this “we” you are always referring to? Will, Liz and GrandTango?
The democr…….I mean republican revolution is really bringing that change to running the government.
They will return next Tuesday, say the courts settled the Executive Order issue favorably, pass a clean DHS funding bill, and then the next week the New Orleans circuit will remove the injunction, and the EO will proceed. That’s what will happen. Period. The GOP in Congress will use this as cover, pass a clean bill, and then bitch again when the next court clears the path. And then silently prepare a comprehensive reform bill to take the Immigration issue off the table and clear the way for Jeb and his Mexican wife to take over the White House in 2016. And Flip’s new favorite food will be tacos and his favorite word will be Gracias. And Grand Tango will amaze us with his recounting how he was for a pathway to citizenship all along. Because all undocumented immigrants are like the new President’s wife – hot lookiung.
ONLY vapid Dumb@$$#$ like FITS, and his liberal @$$-kissers, think there’s ANY question…
The GOP TOTALLY funds DHS…the Democrats are blocking it….you F*#king idiot…
Totally funds DHS with a clean bill – that’s what we said will happen. No one will be blocking that. That’s what will happen. And the circuit court removes the injunction, and we move forward. Then Boehner and McConnell pass comprehensive reform so Bush can run without having to promise to deport all the undocumented aliens and have his wife cut him off from any Latin-lovin’

So there.
894 people polled out of 350,000,000 is not “Most Americans.”
Assuming an accurate representative sample. 894 people would a 95% confidence and a +/- 3% confidence level. Plenty good enough for the stated exercise above.
No DHS = No TSA. Sounds like a plan most of the flying public could get behind.
