Kasich has a 80% approval rating in Ohio.His tax plan(Haley’s is same) is supported by both Republicans and Democrats.He successfully took on the public sector unions and STILL retains their support.
I disagree with Medicaid expansion however with Obama taking our country into a Depression and Obamacare destroying the healthcare system I can certainly understand why Kasich would try and help the poor. Problem is the fraud.Hundreds of thousands applicants failed to submit income verification and have been dropped from rolls. No doctors are accepting new patients.

I would vote for Kasich in a heartbeat. I feel he is capable of stopping the bleeding and perhaps bringing us enough notches to the right that we could almost center ourselves which would be fine with me.
You are correct. I watched him personally take on the public sector unions- AFTER they elected him the first time.
Once they saw the reforms he enacted would save jobs and communities from going over a fiscal cliff they continue to support him (police,fire,teachers).
Medicaid expansion will hurt him however and state however.Haley got that one right.

You must remember. He is governing a bluish purple state. Republicans need to win Ohio. He seems a bit policy wonkish. He needs that fire in the belly like Scott Walker.
Also since fewer Democrats have a college education, Republicans need to attract crossover votes from less educated Democrats. Scott Walker can do that. ;-)
I didnt know if you are correct or not so did a little research and all seems to point to this..:
Liberals were the most educated group with 49% being college graduates compared to an average of 26.5% among all the conservative groups (including the Democratic voting Conservative Democrats). Disadvantaged Democrats were the least educated with only 13% having a college degree.
So in a way I guess you are correct but not really as all conservatives groups come in at under 27% compared to liberals at almost 50% http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_ideologies_in_the_United_States
