“LUV GOV” MULLS ANOTHER RUN
|| By FITSNEWS || U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford is actively considering a run for governor of South Carolina in 2018, sources familiar with his thinking tell FITS.
The former “Luv Gov”- who held the post from 2003-2011 – was nearly impeached after an infamous 2009 sex scandal exposed questionable travel practices within his administration. He’s also been dogged by scandal ever since completing a remarkable political comeback in May of 2013.
Why would Sanford run? Well, we can think of a million reasons … or to be more precise, $1,078,063.58.
That’s how much cash on hand Sanford has had sitting in his state account. In fact he’s had roughly that amount sitting in his state account for the last three years.
We can also think of 400,000 reasons why he’s disappointed with current “Republican” governor Nikki Haley (more on that HERE).
But would South Carolinians entrust him with the keys to the governor’s mansion again? Especially considering drama from his personal life is still blowing up in his face?
Hmmmmm …
Sanford is expected to face a stiff challenge for his congressional seat in 2016 from Charleston attorney and former S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) director Catherine Templeton. In fact Templeton’s decision to step down from her role running the largest agency in state government earlier this year immediately prompted Sanford to start taking this whole Congress thing a bit more seriously.
Frankly, we don’t think Sanford has a statewide comeback in him … although to be fair, no one would have guessed he would have pulled off the special election victory that sent him back to the U.S. House of Representatives two years ago.
“The guy just wins elections,” one veteran political observer told FITS.
That’s true … although we suspect this “comeback” is a bridge too far for Sanford, especially given his recent missteps. Anyway, what do you think? Vote in our poll and post your thoughts in our comments section below …

Catherine had two options… #1 resign #2 be fired. Nikki had had enough of her after all of the her Ebola shenanigans she was doing on the coast. In no way did she resign to run for office.

That is correct. She had the choice of leaving under her own steam or being pushed out. Think about it. Who announces they’re leaving on a Thursday, last day of work the following Monday? And the following Tuesday was the first day the General Assembly returned to session.

And the politicians that they have elected have been punching me in the nuts for years. Though the current Governor was a little more gentle with Will’s nuts, from what I hear. And saw around 7 years ago at that bar that used to be Poor Richards when I was in law school. Not in the bar itself, but there may have been canoodling afterward.
Why not? I mean, the fucktard electorate of this state re-elected Nikki for another four years of corruption, self service, and ineptitude; why not do the same for Markey Mark? That way, we get to hear him ‘pologizing for all his sins for eight more years.
Hell, Lexington County’s dumbest (electorate) is gearing up to vote in more Jimmy/Ring-style corruption for life when they either vote in Koon or Britt. Why break from a proud SC tradition?

Not Tyndall and not a fan of his, Koon’s, or Britt’s. All three have way too many ties to old guard corruption in Lexington County (plus Richland in Britt’s case).
I’ll be voting for Felix as he is the only candidate who does not seem to be connected to old guard corruption.

Your mistake.Sanford can’t be defeated in state/national politics.
But maybe he should be defeated. Or better yet, step down after this term.

I would vote for GT before I would vote for Sanford, and that thought makes me want to puke.

That would be quite a duel! It would end up being an echo chamber experience, as they use many of the same catch phrases and hold similar views. However, Jenny would be more innovative solving problems.
Mark’s sycophants would come out beating the scorned woman drum and disparaging her looks. Very unsettling for the sons.
I would vote for him today if he could replace the travesty we have in office now.
