SOUTH CAROLINA CAMPUS DEALING WITH ANOTHER VIOLENT SHOOTING

|| By FITSNEWS || Multiple law enforcement agencies are confirming that this week’s fatal shooting at the University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Health (story HERE) was a murder suicide.

If true, it would be the second such tragedy to rock the school in the last three months.

Last November, 20-year-old Diamoney Greene – a criminology student – was shot and killed by 21-year-old Brandon Early.  That shooting took place at the Copper Beech apartment complex near Williams Brice Stadium – just a few miles from this week’s shooting in downtown Columbia, S.C.

As was the case in this week’s on-campus shooting, FITS was the first news outlet to raise the possibility of a murder-suicide related to the Copper Beech incident.

Law enforcement officials have yet to release the names of the alleged victim and perpetrator from this week’s shooting, but they have confirmed two people are dead in what “appears to be a murder-suicide.”

Universities today have become breeding grounds for the secularists and atheist tenured professors to spread their message of hate and hopelessness to our young men and women.

Life is no longer valued.

Who’s saying it’s university related, it may be a pissed off boyfriend of a girl who just broke up with him.

I don’t worship anyone, and I definitely see the corruption in politics, media, and elsewhere. Yet, I still don’t see any defining proof that there is (or isn’t) a deity. Thus, logically, it’s like Schrodinger’s cat: the cat in the box is both dead, and alive, and without proof and testing of all viable options you cannot know for sure and you cannot open the box. For me, blindly keeping faith in a deity and spending my time in church is no way to be constructive or helping in society. In fact, it’s actually closing me off from learning about all different cultures, and trying to understand and coordinate ideas that are able to help everyone, not just those whom you consider brothers in faith. It’s about being a broker, and bringing everyone together with conflicting ideologies and spiritualities and rising up against the forces that bring our fellow man down. Death is the void for which man has no knowing. Yet, to believe that a God would be so cruel as to punish the flawed man for his misgivings and send him into an eternity of fiery hell and damnation is nothing I want to be a part of.

Our society is spiraling down the toilet, where life means nothing…and people are vested only in self, w/ no god, other than the pop culture icons and corrupt politicians who tell them there is a Utopia that you deserve.

When you have to face the reality that your deities are liars, failed and false… you are becoming unhinged…

Expect more, unfortunately..until we can get this country back…and restore some sense of order, respect and love for each other…instead of the selfish hate that passes for loyalty to country…

Since it took everything away from me: my career, my social life, my ability to leave the house, the constant pain, the isolation, for the past four years–right now unfortunately it does define me as a person. A sick person. Hopefully you or anyone you love will never have to know how this works–I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy–but it does reduce a person to a bed and a bathrobe. It’s a site full of bullshit spin, not only do they only link to thinks that fits a conservative bias, they use rampant quote mining to generate fake headlines to over-sensationalize it, and shamelessly at that.

If someone has to explain that to you, though, you may want to rethink the “lo-info retard” insult.

he provides a couple of hundred links to just about every news site on the planet

So does Google News, except with 100% less bullshit.

Smirks February 5, 2015 at 4:42 pm

Drudge posts headlines DUMB@$$.

No they don’t, they make headlines up. You click half their links and the story it takes you to has a completely different headline.

Top “Headline”: ‘TERRIBLE DEEDS IN NAME OF CHRIST’

Actual Headline: Obama condemns those who seek to ‘hijack religion’

Fake headline quote-mined from:

Unless we get on our high horse and think that this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ

But context ruins the spin, doesn’t it?

Reply
BrigidBernadette February 5, 2015 at 4:56 pm

The headline up right now has quotation marks around the direct quote from Obama’s statements this morning. He does not make them up in the manner you imply–that the headlines are false. They are not false as in untrue, he pulls out the newsworthy aspect and runs with it. Also called curating. Why is he the only site that people demand total ‘objectivity,’ while every other news outlet gets a pass? Because he threatens the establishment by posting the truth. CNN couldn’t even bring themselves to show the video of the Jordanian pilot being burned alive even though it was the top story yesterday, an omission that enables them avoid anything that threatens their left-wing narrative. But that’s ok?

GrandTango February 5, 2015 at 5:05 pm

Why do you always COWER from what you are..when it manifests???…OWN IT!!!!…even when the lights come on…

BrigidBernadette February 5, 2015 at 4:29 pm

Drudge is a news aggregator, he links to the NYTimes, CNN, Wash. Post, all of the links are to national and international news sites–you have obviously never visited the site. Matt Drudge is the most influential news site on the planet, millions of hits per month, per week. What is on Drudge today, will be on the MSM tomorrow. Shocking how uninformed people still are. Or do you think that he sets up fake mirror sites to the NY Times–one of the most frequent sites he links to–and populates it with his own stories? There are dumbasses out there who actually thinks that what he does! Same thing with Fox cable news–Mara Liasson has been at NPR since 1985 and at Fox since 1997, and she on both daily. Do you think that when she wraps up her NPR congressional reports and walks across the street to her nightly gig on Fox, that she morphs into another person? so so dumb.

Your truism don’t solve anything.
No alcohol no drunk driving deaths.
There is no such law that will ever get gun out of the hands of criminals. If you do what next? No knives, no knife deaths. Your continued repeated “No guns = no gun death” doesn’t address how you get rid of guns. Prohibition didn’t get rid of alcohol. The drug war hadn’t gotten rid of drugs. What’s the benefit of dying by knife wound instead of a gun? But then I must be foolish to think you could offer any reasonable logic to this issue.

euwe max February 6, 2015 at 2:30 pm

What’s the benefit of dying by knife wound instead of a gun?

——-
are we talking about a high-powered knife here? Range of 1 mile? Is this a single-shot bolt action knife, a semi-automatic, or a full auto knife? What’s the muzzle velocity, and the foot-pounds delivered at impact? Is it a hollow point blade with an exploding tip? Can it be fitted with a 16 power scope? How many kindergarten kids can you kill with it in 5 minutes? Does it enter like a dime and come out like a cash register?

I just want to make sure how much fire power we’re talking about here.

euwe max February 6, 2015 at 4:05 am

That is *so* not true… even if there were no guns, there would still be gun deaths!

euwe max February 6, 2015 at 4:04 am

Places Off-Limits Even With A Permit/License
Section 23-31-215 (M).
(5) school or college athletic event not related to firearms;

Section 16-23-420. (A) It is unlawful for a person to possess a firearm of any kind on any premises or property owned, operated, or controlled by a private or public school, college, university, technical college, other post-secondary institution, or in any publicly-owned building, without the express permission of the authorities in charge of the premises or property. The provisions of this subsection related to any premises or property owned, operated, or controlled by a private or public school, college, university, technical college, or other post-secondary institution, do not apply to a person who is authorized to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23 when the weapon remains inside an attended or locked motor vehicle and is secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle.”

Gosh! Wonder why it din’T work. Always seems to happen at places that guns are banned. Fools.

I read the article. I don’t dispute most of it. I do find it amusing that David Hemenway, a professor of Health Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health, disputes the validity of previous data on defensive use of guns based on the theory of “social desirability bias”. He believes that gun owners lied in surveys in order to justify themselves. Interesting theory: probably true. But let me ask you this. What would Professor Hemenway’s “social desirability” be among his Harvard colleagues be if he defended gun ownership? Do you think he might have his own “bias”? Wouldn’t he be more eager to find incidents of over counting successful use of guns for self defense? He might be hesitate in finding possible under counts. That is if he wishes popularity and respect from his peers.

I can think of one category of under counts that is never considered in his research. How about the crimes that were never committed because the perpetrator suspected the prospective victim possessed a gun? That is never considered. The hope of most gun owners is that they never have to use it. They often buy a gun because they are in greater danger to begin with, but does gun ownership reduce that danger of a criminal act ever happening? Does the perception of wide spead gun ownership reduce crime?

Crime rates have declined since the late seventies. This may have many reasons: Higher incarceration, demographics, and smarter policing, but higher gun ownership might also be a factor.

Also, I often here of gun control advocates use Europe or Japan as an example of successful gun control. But America has a different history and culture. I don’t believe gun control will successfully keep guns out of criminals possession and will make criminals out of some formerly law abiding citizens who will continue to get guns. Criminals with guns will be more brazen in there use of guns because of the presumption that the victim is unarmed.

No one has ever died from an overdose of marijuana, but I don’t hear the Republicans clamoring for everyone to switch to it from alcohol!

There have been deaths from edible marijuana edibles.

How about these 16 deaths from a train crew on marijuana?

so… you’re going to claim whenever a person dies doing something stupid, it was the caffeinated beverage he drank shortly before, that actually caused his death?

Um.. that’s not how you attribute death from a substance. If you don’t die from a lethal dose, or by the accumulated deterioration of your health – it’s not the substance that killed you.

When someone dies from alcohol poisoning, it’s considered an overdose that killed him.

Science has a method for measuring lethal dose… it’s called LD50. Marijuana does not have a lethal dose.

When someone drinks alcohol and gets into a gun fight and loses, it’s not counted as “death by alcohol.”

You might try using common sense when you’re trying to defend hysterical, unfounded fear… it won’t look as bad.

Completely ignore the marijuana extract edible overdoses.

You have links to people who died of overdoses?

euwe max February 6, 2015 at 2:23 pm

You really should check your sources. I did, and I could not find one documented death due to ingestion of pot.

The claims all boil down to “he ingested THC adding up to 6 joints!’… and no deaths, save from jumping out of windows or getting in a wreck.. which is *not* an overdose.

Don’t let your bias make you claim stupid shit.

Maybe a choke-point entry with a metal detector and an armed guard?

By legal mandate, USC is a Gun Free Zone. Please tell me again how much good that did in this case.

Ahhhh…. the heady aroma of anti-gun propaganda. Of course, the authors of this piece would NEVER be guilty of the same or similar exaggerations as they accuse pro-gunners of.

Not really. The guns n’ ammo lobby have the NRA and most of congress all sewn up.

Unless you consider public health to be a lobbying group

You know what your problem is?

You don’t have enough guns!

euwe max February 6, 2015 at 4:01 am

You know, you’re right… I could kill a person with a bucket of water… or a fountain pen… and those aren’t regulated….

…at all.

euwe max February 6, 2015 at 4:00 am

hey gun nuts, the first step to solving your problem is admitting you have a problem.
Guns are the problem.

Actually I DO have a problem and I admit it. There are just more guns that I want than I have money with which to purchase them. Hopefully, my tax refund check will allow me to buy a couple of them, appropriate holsters, and ammo for both.

For the life of me I don’t understand why anyone responds to GrandTango.

Some times I swear GrandTango is FITS increasing his hits.

I’m relieved to hear that gun used in the murder-suicide has been located. I was afraid that the shooter hid it after committing suicide. Another top notch article in The State.
