Former New Mexico Governor and Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative Gary Johnson released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address:

“The President’s speech can be summed up pretty simply: He told us that the state of the union is good and that he wants to double-down on the big government, big debt policies that he says are working. That is just wrong in too many ways to list.

“Redistributing wealth and designating winners and losers have for too long been the hallmarks of American politics — regardless of which party is in power. Now, President Obama wants to take them to new heights.

“The U.S. has one of the most punitive, anti-growth tax codes in the industrialized world, and the President wants to make it more punitive. We have a tax code that is absurdly complex, and he wants to make it more complex. Instead of raising capital gains taxes and passing out tax credits like candy, real progress would be to eliminate all income taxes and adopt a system that rewards production, savings and investment.

“Government subsidies and market distortions have produced college costs and student loan burdens that threaten a generation of graduates. Now we have a proposal to make community college somehow magically ‘free’, as though no one is going to have to pay for it. Nowhere do we see a plan to allow innovation, the free market and competition to truly make education affordable.

“These are just a couple of examples of the misguided theme that piling more government interference on the marketplace is the answer to every challenge. We’ve tried that for a few decades now, and despite the President’s claims to the contrary, the result is not good.”

Make the 1 percent pay for community colleges. They’re always crying about job creation. Let them help make it happen.

Dan you always appear to have your hand out for something. Why?

I’ve already been through college. My hands aren’t out to receive a viable, affordable higher education option. I still support it though because it will benefit the country as a whole to have a better-educated workforce.

How the f*ck have gov’t subsidies raised student loan burdens? Does this moron proofread his speeches, or just burp them out his butt?

Same way the Democrat Party created the ‘housing crisis’-loaning money to people that could never pay it back.

Except the housing crisis was created by Wall Street banks and Thrifts that were governed by the executive branch under Bush. Funny we didn’t have a sub-prime loan crisis and Alt-A lending out the wazoo under the prior administration which would have been – yes – a Democratic one. Since the Housing bubble started to burst in Q4 – 2006 – if I remember right – that was GOP Congress and GOP President. Oh, and if it was FNMA and FHLMC – why has the GOP Congress refused to reform them or spin them off to private companies? Wanna know why – because they pump $500 billion in earnings into the federal coffers every year. So I guess they’re a real failure – so bad that Johnny and Mitch want to keep them.

Wall Street supports Obama. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should be in prison for what they did.

Wall Street supports Obama.

Nah, Obama supports Wall Street. He loves appointing Goldman Sachs people, but hey, Romney took their money too, so no reason to expect anything different from him.

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should be in prison for what they did.

Butthurt over Dodd-Frank? It was watered down a bit too much to make a difference, and they are quickly peeling it away anyways. Get over it bro.

‘Butthurt”? I am not the one making references about sticking his ‘salami’ in another man as you just did on another thread.

Dude/bro you be weird!

Forbes debunked your ‘housing crisis’ story over three years ago:

lulz… Government lessening its subsidization of public universities has ballooned student loan burdens bigtime. Countless governors have slashed funding to state universities to pay for tax cuts or to funnel to whatever other pet projects they have. Universities in turn raise their tuition, and since all their students are getting loans now anyways, why not jack up the tuition rates even more and get more cash than what the state was giving you? Might as well, the government isn’t stopping you!

Less gubmint funding + not enough gubmint control of public tuition rates = It’s the gubmint’s fault!

A combination national flat tax and sales tax would take care of a shit load of problems but neither the Republicans or Democrats have the balls to make it happen no matter how much this past govenor of New Mexico would lead us to believe that his faction could do it.

A combination national flat tax and sales tax would take care of a shit load of problems

…and cause 3 or 4 shitloads of problems in its wake.

Flat and regressive taxes are a horrible idea, man. If you want the working class to take a beating, though, then you’re in the right ball park.
