NATIONAL AVERAGE HEADED BELOW $2.00 …
|| By FITSNEWS || Gas prices continue to plummet and could soon drop below the $2.00 per gallon average nationwide – the lowest they’ve been in six years.
According to the latest data from AAA’s daily fuel gauge, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.10 – down a stunning 46 cents from a month ago and roughly $1.20 cheaper than last year. And while the national average remains above $2.00 thanks to states like New York, California and Hawai’i, twenty states are now enjoying $2.00 gas (or cheaper).
And that list is expected to grow … which is amazing considering six weeks ago every gas station in America was charging more than $2.00 to fill up.
In South Carolina, gas is currently averaging $1.94 per gallon of regular unleaded – good for the seventh cheapest rate in the country. Typically South Carolina has the lowest gas prices in the nation, although its dirt poor citizens always spend a disproportionately large slice of their modest incomes on fuel.
That’s why we’ve consistently opposed efforts to raise the gas tax … especially deceptive efforts like this one.
While plunging prices at the pump are good news … consumers have yet to translate these “savings” into additional spending. In fact last month’s retail print was a debacle … lending credence to our theory that these “savings” are being sucked up elsewhere.
What are gas prices like in your neck of the woods? Post your experiences at the pump in our comments section below …
RAPID REACTION
@fitsnews Except in Pageland. 2.09 last night. All stations have same price. .20/ gal higher than Chesterfield & Lancaster.

yet no SEC East titles … btw was in G-Vegas earlier this month w/ the fam. GORGEOUS town.
Indeed, it is gorgeous. Its a crying shame how corruption has tainted the beauty.
So you’re saying it’s becoming more like Columbia?
Not as much crime, grime or filth.
And its only about a 30 minute ride to God’s country from there.
Too bad it’s a wholly-owned subsidiary of a small cabal of developers who have made many millions making it “gorgeous” with the help of their tame press, pet politicians, and a hefty bag of taxpayer money.
And you don’t believe in rainbows and unicorns. Shame on you!
LMAO..one thing good happens in Obama’s six years….and FITS can’t stop crapping himself. …LMAO…
Bless his heart…hahahaha….
Another good thing: The bounty of angry GrandTango posts over the last six years, and we still got 2 more left!
Truly a “Thanks Obama!” both conservatives and liberals can agree on.

$1.89 at Lake Murray Blvd & StAndrews
You should stop these type of articles, you are undercutting our argument a tax cut will stimulate growth.
The Saudis did more to help the Obama-suffering American people in a month, than Obama has done in his whole miserable lifetime…
See, having a secret Muslim for president has it’s perks!
Didn’t they all claim Bush was in bed w/ the Saudi Royals…
I guess when it really is right to BLAME Bush…it’s now, all of the sudden (and FINALLY) Obama’s fault…LMAO…
All that kissing and romantic, hand in hand walks through the garden and Georgie didn’t get us shit. We need a full blown, out of the closet Muslim president next!

I don’t believe he can grasp the concept.
Actually the Saudi’s and Egypt and don’t trust Obama and believe him to be a supporter of radical Islam.
You must enjoy making comments that show your true lack of understanding. I suggest you read up on how the global markets set prices and affect the energy markets
So many of you idiot liberals are always posting links, or demanding someone else do your homework, because you are too F*#king stupid to articulate anything, other than what you’re fed by FITS or the DNC…
The Saudis are selling low, trying to make fracking non-profitable…Dumb@$$…
Not cutting production is not “selling low”.
You really are a stump dumb idiot.
A simple thank you Obama would have been sufficient.
First, supply and demand generates the greatest influence on oil pricing. This has nothing to do with “selling low.” Second, spare capacity also can heavily influence the price of oil.
More importantly–because the US dollar is the international currency used to value oil, if the US dollar is weak, then inflation is high and oil is high. Conversely, when the US dollar gains strength, it can heavily influence the price down.
I know you don’t like to hear that the US dollar has actually improved some…but technically, it has.
(I admit that is a broad statement, requiring many other factors and assumptions…however, I’m explaining this to someone who appears to have a substandard ability to comprehend.)
Ahhhh … You are just another typical sociopath who was also likely a bully in grade school or perhaps even a little runt with a wittle peepee who still suffers from “short man syndrome.”
Highest average gas prices ever still happened under Bush. :)
Geez, wonder who gonna win this duel, the Skieks or the Shalers?
Don’t think too hard before you answer.
So far, we are at < $2.00/gallon gas.
Looks like Obama was right about higher oil prices, after all.
“consumers have yet to translate these “savings” into additional spending”
It’s 40 degrees and raining at the coast, just above freezing in the rest of the state. The Northeast is buried under record snowfalls. WTF do you want us to do? Go out in that shit? I’m staying in until it warms up…I’d imagine the rest of the country is saying the same thing. Screw going out in the cold and rain.
Gas prices plummet just as the Pipeline Issue heats up.
Gas falling, but prices of consumer goods and food remain the same or have increased.
Don’t worry, gas prices will go back up as soon as the big guys starve out all the little guys. It just takes time.
What a totally deceptive article…….
a slave is a slave at ANY price…!!
That darned Obama! And he’s blocking the Keystone pipeline too which would have brought down gas prices. Wait! I just saw gas at $1.73/gal at the Hot Spot in Easley. How can that be? Fox News and Limbaugh have been telling me for years only Keystone would bring down gas prices. If Fox and Rush said that — again and again and again — it must be true. Right?
