POLITICIANS REMAIN UNDER SCRUTINY FOR SWEETHEART STOCK PAYOUTS

|| By FITSNEWS ||  North Carolina governor Pat McCrory is facing an ethics complaint over questionable payouts received from controversial lender Tree.com.  According to Progress NC Action, McCrory is hiding “clear conflicts of interest and sources of income” related to his involvement with the company.

Last month, the Associated Press reported McCrory and U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford had “accepted six-figure stock payouts from an online mortgage broker accused by regulators of deceiving its customers.”

According to the AP report, Sanford “received his $108,539 in Tree.com stock after taking office in Congress” – although the company didn’t disclose the payout until May 2014.  The wire service says Sanford’s acceptance of the money had “never been made public” prior to its report.

Sanford has been criticized for his receipt of nearly a quarter million from Tree.com from April 2012 to May 2013, but no investigation has been launched into his dealings with the company.

South Carolina Democrats have been clamoring for one, though.

“Sanford’s payout from a company under investigation required last minute maneuvering to avoid losing money when he took office,” S.C. Democratic Party chairman Jamie Harrison said last month.  “Working families across South Carolina don’t get sweetheart $239,159 buyouts.  Our elected officials must be open and honest about their financial dealings.  I encourage the appropriate oversight bodies to review the details of this questionable transaction.”

We concur …

Regardless of their ideological affiliation or party label, elected officials have an obligation to work for the people – not the special interests.  Sweetheart paydays like those received by McCrory and Sanford erode the public’s faith in their government – and are among the reasons we’re warming to draconian restrictions on income for elected officials.

Public service isn’t self-service … or at least it shouldn’t be.

“accepted six-figure stock payouts from an online mortgage broker accused by regulators of deceiving its customers.”

You are such a fucking hypocrite. Tom Ervin solicited and accepted a ‘6-figure payout’ from donors in his failed run for governor and then QUIT. Where in the fuck is that money?

When he said he was no longer on the payroll of the company completely polluted all of NC’s river (I thinks it was Duke Power) I actually laughed out loud. Of course he wasn’t on their payroll, he was being paid under the table because McCrory only wanted to fine the company $30,000 until the people of NC went crazy and he raised it. There is no amount of money that can fix poiswon water and land. Why is this man not already in prison., I’m sending this article to the Inspector General of the EPA and other Federal entities. I’ve learned one thing in life you don’t mess with the so called “Tree Huggers” environmentalists..

McCroy quietly sold his stock in Duke Power a couple of weeks before the public found out about the coal ash. He knew about it. Martha Stewart went to jail for that. He’s a pimple on the ass of the NC Citizenry.

I know this is not on topic but I have doubts the picture will stay up long

The official portrait of the Gypsy Queen has just been unveiled. Either the artist is a fan of Freddy Krueger or he/she is playing a joke on the Gypsy Queen.

Take a look at the Queen’s right hand – damn, Freddy’s offspring is alive, well and living in the Governor’s Mansion

The instructions to the artist were: Take 25 pounds of the ass and belly or you will never paint in this town again!

Great artist. Got rid of the huge ass and flattened her stomach. Fixed her nose and scrunched up face. Wrinkles disappeared.

Mark Sanford is a long term maggot on the taxpayers.
But, Pat McCrony is one of the slimiest politicians I have ever half way kept up with. He is scum.

Ah yes, the Christian values of going to Argentina to cheat on your wife and taking bribes. Jesus talked all about it in D’Souza 7:27 and Rand 3:16.

CREW is hardly the “citizens'” watch group it pretends to be. Brock, it’s director, is a long-time Democratic operative, and even Politico and Buzzfeed openly acknowledge the fact. It’s a stupid game by the parties wherein each funds and staffs watch dog groups which sound non-partisan but clearly aren’t (and the GOP version of the Dem’s Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a.k.a. CREW, is the equally partisan Judicial Watch) and at regularly timed intervals they throw out spurious ethics charges — which anyone can do at any time. They’re like frivolous law suits in that respect — but which ultimately have the deleterious effect to BOTH parties of undermining public confidence. And when this sort of partisan manure throwing spills over into the press, as it does more and more these days, we see the same cynicism applied to them. Kind of ironic, given how often reporters and politicos say they want more public involvement and awareness, that their own actions turn people off and away.

I posted the above comment exactly seven days ago. Since then the price of (brent) crude oil has dropped over $6 to less than $47.00. Predictions are that it will continue to fall.
Falling oil prices have not just continued to fall but has accelerated.
This is like a tax cut without any spending cut or deficit.

I paid $1.77 9/10 yesterday, but only got 10 gallons. I expect it to eventually be below $1.60.

Sanford will hate to spend it on lawyers!

The Democrats have their own skeletons. All these goons should be routed out. Unfortunate that the special interests are the ones that got them there, and own them. With a press that is increasingly gov’t owned we will never really know the whole truth. We have competing sources, but each side disregards or misses the kernels that do manage to rise to the surface.
