“CONSEQUENCES” ARE OK, THOUGH …
|| By FITSNEWS || U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney has been getting pounded in the aftermath of his vote last week to support fiscally liberal “Republican” John Boehner of Ohio for a third term as U.S. Speaker.
Mulvaney’s argument in support of his poorly wagered decision? That the coup against Boehner (a rebellion he participated in two years ago) wasn’t serious and failed to produce a credible alternative. If you want, you can read his explanation here.
As much as we like Mulvaney (and admire his consistent pro-free market record), we’re not buying his logic. Certainly he is correct in saying the coup failed to produce a credible alternative, but that’s never an excuse to vote in favor of someone like Boehner.
The Speaker’s vote was a gut check … and it found Mulvaney (and U.S. Reps. Trey Gowdy, Tom Rice, Mark Sanford and Joe Wilson) lacking in guts.
We expected as much from Rice and Wilson (they’re essentially Democrats in disguise), but Gowdy, Mulvaney and Sanford should have known better.
In fact that is what’s so disappointing about this vote: They do know better.

To his credit, Mulvaney did join a group of five “conservative” Boehner supporters (oxymoron, we know) who sat down with the liberal “Republican” leader last week and urged him not to take revenge against those who didn’t support him.
“Everybody recognizes that there will be consequences,but we wanted him to know that there was a large group of us that see a difference between consequences and retribution,” Mulvaney told NRO’s Eliana Johnson.
Okay … and what is that difference?
According to Mulvaney, Boehner has the right to “foreclose committee chairmanships or turn off the spigot of campaign cash to dissenters,” but that kicking lawmakers off of committees is a step too far.
Really? That’s curious advice considering Boehner’s underlings have already started kicking dissenting lawmakers off of their committees …
Look, we’re glad Mulvaney and these four other lawmakers (Florida’s Ron DeSantis, Ohio’s Jim Jordan, Idaho’s Raul Labrador, and Arizona’s Matt Salmon) met with Boehner and delivered this message, but with all due respect a much stronger message would have been not voting for the guy.

It’s fine when they’re hamstringing Democrats because that does ultimately benefit the GOP as a whole, but when you guys start doing similar crap to them, oh no, they aren’t going to put up with that crap.
The Tea Party is nothing more than a tool to the establishment Republicans, and when they end up getting their thumb banged by it, it’s going right in the garbage.

What I posted (and will do if it comes to it) is that IF the hard right were ever to manage to secede from the Union (and I’m still around – that is), I will kill my livestock,burn down my house and barn and yes, apply salt to my property to a depth of approximately 1 cm.That concentration will render it useless to the “nation” of South Carolina for quite some time.
Then I’ll leave and something tells me I won’t be the only one to use the “scorched earth” tactic to get the point across.
i’m sure the “nation” of South Carolina will be able to muster the resources to render it worth something again seeing as how South Carolina is doing a bang-up job keeping its roads in shape, the trash off the roads, and everything else that keeps it in 49th. place at present.
If we could do it city by city or county by county, i might be ok with it. I would love all the cheap foreign labor it would create in the Banana Republic of Carolina.. Those who went along would be begging for jobs at any price within a year, and looking for good old greenbacks to pay for food.
At the end of the day the whole country knows you cant have Teabaggers in charge otherwise you would have unchecked chaos.

Trey Gowdy likely will not be re-elected in his district. The voters are organizing there to be sure he is tossed to the curb. He’s all tough talk, but a nothing on taking any kind of action.
I’ve been saying that for quite some time but you can’t reason with people who are on par with adults who believe in the tooth fairy and that the fairy will bring about some type of miracle. The dumbshits keep hoping for somebody to deliver them from their plight

Her comment defending Gowdy’s rationalization the other day on the Spbg. Tea Party site was about as brown-nosed as anything I’ve ever seen.
The same way all of the other folks have been booted by the Tea Party in recent years?
This story needs a re-write since Texas Rep. Louie (the Instigator) Gohmert got a committee chairmanship after the half-hearted mutiny. Maybe Mulvaney had an impact after all.
