Not a bad idea to rebuild infrastructure. Everybody would have skin in the game, not just those that pay all the taxes. Democrats are typically welfare leeches and pay no taxes while enjoying free health insurance, food stamps and Section 8 housing.
Also since some states are giving illegals taxpayer funded DL’s why not recoup some of that money when they fill their vans up transporting other illegals and moving their drugs around.

Wow! Tax increases, amnesty and Obamacare funded for the future – certainly exactly what the Tea Party conservatives were looking for when they entered the polling booth.
They piled into the booth for a token ACA repeal through reconciliation that will be vetoed. It’s coming. I hope it makes them feel better.
Supposing Republicans have complete control in 2017, I’m calling it now. No repeal. Just one or two changes and then suddenly the GOP forgets the word “Obamacare” entirely. Hell, after the changes I’m willing to bet the Medicaid expansion will be adopted in nearly all 50 states.

That is exactly true. There is very little that seperates the two parties when it comes down to voting/actions & tossing rhetoric out the window.
The expanded Medicad will bankrupt states as the federal government refuses to help states and the reimbursement to doctors have been cut-they are dropping patients and not accepting new ones.
SCOTUS will finish Obamacare off.
Economics will eventually win the day over both parties. I’ve long suspected that Obamacare will solve all of our national financial problems(via default) since it’s inception.
Time will tell. A pox on both parties & gov’t in general.

The gas tax is one of the most acceptable forms of taxation, you are only charged when you pump gas, ideally into your car, which means you pay for roads as you consume the gas that your car requires.
Willie can point to some dumbass boondoggles SCDOT is engaging in, which is why I agree that DOT needs to axe those programs when it proposed hiking the tax, but I feel this effort against raising the national gas tax is just another “ERMAGERD WE HATE ALL TAX INCREASES NO MATTER HOW JUSTIFIED OR BADLY NEEDED THEY ARE!!!!!!!” Tea Party tirade.
The duty of government is to provide evidence that yes, additional tax revenue is needed, and to put forth a request to obtain just that. It is the duty of the people to judge whether the government’s request has merit. If it has merit, it should pass.
This dumbass goes on to tell us that revenues haven’t gone up because consumption hasn’t recovered to 2008 levels (most would think this is a good think, for both the environment and our disturbing addiction to foreign oil). Supposing that even in 2008 we had enough money to fund the roads properly, why can’t we make a modest increase with an expiration date? You know, like we did with other programs that required additional funding during the recession? And just pass extensions as long as it is necessary, and let it die when it no longer is?

Taxes are a necessity, but in this case its more likely oportunistic. remember when gas was under a dollar, then it went up to 4, now its back around 2 and they are going to increase gas taxes while its still “low” because they wont be able to increase it again once it goes back up. it is going back up because the external forces that caused opec to lower oil prices (fracking) is going to come to an end in the next couple years because its extremely unsafe

You have to love the likes of GT, Sandi, Flip Crisco: They represent the classic Tea Pee Party folks. Aging baby boomers who think they’re all about “conservative” ideas. The reality is they are the aging representatives of the Me generation. They call themselves Patriots, but care only for themselves. They say they defeated the Soviet Union when Reagan exploded the national debt with military spending. Said they’d pay it back. Then after the budget was balanced by a Democrat, and we had a surplus, they screamed they needed a tax cut, and decided instead to force their grand kids to carry the water for them. They call moderate Republicans and Democrats moochers and welfare recipients, when the fact is most of those two groups are college educated making three or four times what they make – and again – carry the tax burden. It’s always about them. Born in the 50s, spoiled in the 60s and 70s, mooching off everyone else in the 80s and 90s, crying about protecting their own entitlements that the live off of for the last 15 years. Their parents must be puking in their graves. They think they’re part of some great cause, when in fact they’re about to get steam-rolled by the Establishment. Inherently racist, living primarily in Red States that suck off the Federal Government tit, and claim they’re all that and a bag of chips. A bag of cow chips maybe.
