SOUTH CAROLINA “REPUBLICANS” CANNOT BACK JOHN BOEHNER AND MAINTAIN THEIR CREDIBILITY
|| By FITSNEWS || This website doesn’t have a lot of friends in the South Carolina state capitol. Why not? Because unlike the left-leaning mainstream media (which is bought and paid for with your tax dollars) we consistently call out the elected officials who work there.
They don’t like that … nor do they appreciate it when we blow up their lame excuses for selling taxpayers down the river (which they do each year to the tune of $25 billion).
Of course South Carolina’s congressional delegation up in Washington, D.C. has been a different story. By and large the Palmetto State’s representatives to the U.S. Congress have distinguished themselves over the last four years by taking principled stands on behalf of taxpayers – even if it meant being at odds with the “Republican” leadership.
It’s time for them to do so again … or risk losing everything they’ve worked so hard to amass in terms of credibility.
Here’s the bottom line: If U.S. Reps. Jeff Duncan, Trey Gowdy, Mick Mulvaney, Tom Rice, Mark Sanford and Joe Wilson wish to continue promoting themselves as “fiscal conservatives,” then they must oppose the renomination of U.S. Speaker of the House John Boehner (who has rightfully lost the support of the “Republican” base).
Boehner is the poster child for GOP accommodation of the administration of Barack Obama – and last time we checked “Republicans” didn’t win the House (in 2010) and the Senate (in 2014) on a platform of accommodating Obama.
Seriously … ask the people who pulled the GOP lever and they’ll tell you it’s anything but …
But Boehner defines accommodation … an ongoing ideological betrayal that always seems to come at the expense of your wallet. And your liberty. And it’s not just when the going gets tough … this guy caves before the fights even begin.
“We’ve never had much use for Boehner, who has been utterly worthless except for two areas: Capitulating … and getting drunk,” we wrote recently.

Unfortunately, there’s a very real chance every “Republican” member of the South Carolina delegation – which prides itself on its unity and conservatism – winds up backing Boehner when his reelection vote is held this week. Which would be just … unbelievable.
You know, we expected as much from Rice (a fiscal liberal who arrived in D.C. in 2013) and from Wilson (a former “RINO” who has veered back to the left since Rice’s arrival), but the others … it would be truly surprising (and truly disappointing).
For fiscal conservatives like Duncan, Gowdy, Mulvaney and Sanford to even contemplate supporting Boehner is beyond us … yet Mulvaney reportedly not just voting for the Speaker, two out-of-state congressional offices tell us he’s actually urging other “conservative” members to do likewise.
Crazy …
South Carolina’s congressional delegation has amassed some real credibility on fiscal issues. We’d hate to see them blow it in one vote.

Factoid on Rice: Early in his first term, DailyKos rated him on his votes up to that point (and no doubt some inside intel from the John Jenrette and Robin Tallon wing of Southern white Dems who supported Rice via Tallon’s SuperPAC) as “One of US.” Meaning, of course, that he could be counted on to hew to the left of other Repubs, as does Graham in the Senate. Rice, in fact, had stated forthrightly in an interview with The Sun News when he was first running for the SC7 seat, that he was “a Lindsey Graham moderate.” In the latter half of his first term, he veered somwhat more to the right, mainly to shore up the “tea party” votes that had been hard-won for him in his first election. Being the first out of the box to propose the stupid, empty grand-standing stunt of suing the POTUS helped a bit in that — because if there’s anything that will win them over, it’s a stupid, empty grand-standing stunt. (Just ask Ted Cruz.)
He will vote for Boener, though. Too much beholden to him and the others DailyKos sees as “One Of Us” not to do so. But, as Will suggests, he will be far from alone among the SC delegation.

Make your voice heard to tell Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes that his services are no longer needed and that he needs to resign effective immediately.
Mayor Rhodes has embarrassed this community. He has caved into pressure from groups with interests outside the City of Myrtle Beach. He stood by and watched the Atlantic Beach Bikefest overrun the City of Myrtle Beach every Memorial Day Weekend, including mass city wide rioting and 5 murders in 2014, yet he repeatedly fails to enact any legislation, ordinances or strategic plan to deal with this tragedy that adversely affects nearly all Grand Strand residents and businesses. Yet he has more than doubled his mayoral salary up to $50K per year and takes a two week trip to China on someone else’s dime, and for what. He has destroyed almost everything he has touched including businesses, Jackaroo’s Restaurant, and the Beach Ball Classic. When is the last time the Beach Ball Classic was rated in the top 10 of holiday basketball tournaments? The city even has an ordinance that requires businesses to police their own store fronts to disperse loitering people, even if they are all intoxicated, known as the vigilante law. Dozens of businesses were fined for this infraction in 2014.
Mr. Rhodes has failed to establish any working relationship or a framework of communication with Atlantic Beach, or the Governors office to remedy this crisis. There has been plenty of talk on his part, but absolutely no positive results. The city has enacted a 23 mile traffic merry-go-round for Memorial Day Weekend that has no possible way of working. They have also decided to throw 800 law enforcement officers in harms way. Just like the federal government. Got a problem, just throw money at it. In Myrtle Beach, got a problem, just throw money and 800 police officers at it. This is not leadership. He even wants taxpayers and residents to pay for all of this with a hike in taxes. He also wants to take money away from tourism marketing to pay for this. What will we have left after we are all sucked dry to pay for the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest Weekend?
Mr. Rhodes shelf life as mayor has expired. We need someone with common sense and at least half a brain to do much better. Please show your support and FIRE MAYOR JOHN RHODES.

When you represent a state that is dependent on federal welfare dollars to stay afloat (education, transportation, healthcare, food stamps) – you’re not going to bite the hand of the guy with the checkbook. Rocky is spot on. I have personally been working with Gov. Haley to devise a plan for the expansion of Medicare. We have a bill already being drafted to expand the ACA federal state payments for expanding Medicare, and we are confident we can get this passed at the right time. We are also working on an updated Immigration Reform plan with our allies in the House, including many Democrats, to get this issue off the table, give a pathway to citizenship and offer our Party a chance to attract more hispanic voters. I don’t know that Grand Tango, but he or she is rather toxic, in my view. Unfortunately I have to serve all the people of South Carolina, even Grand Tango.

Why address what they say really bothers them, when (a) leaving things in place gives them lots to talk about and get campaign contributions from outraged righties about, and (b) finding a solution opens them up to criticism. I’m talking about ending abortion, ending gay rights, eliminating minimum wages, crushing unions even more, kicking out all the illegal immigrants, ending restrictions completely on campaign contributions, and removing all restrictions on the behavior of corporations and large private companies. They can hold out those issues forever and never act on them but pretend to be on the side of the suckers who keep sending them money.
