I think the Treasurer is going to take care of Christie before he gets here. It is clear Treasurer Loftis does not like big government, influence peddling pol’s like Chris Christie, and I am with him 100% on that score.

Your point about the constant co-opting of platforms is well done. Every gov’t cheerleader, regardless of the “R” or “D” stripe, fails to account for the fact that their brilliant, idea/plan will never make it through the process without major changes….and hence become worse than if it had never been passed to start.

As usual Loftis is stating facts and looking out for the people of SC. Christe is just one of a long line of establishment “Republicans” that need to go around the bowl and down the hole. Having worked with his type several times down through the years, he would be my last choice.

Chris Christie represents the big dollars in government and Loftis represents the little dollars. Christie raises millions and loves the chase of big money, Loftis hates asking for money and funds most of his activity our of his own pocket. I am pleased Loftis is speaking up and hope people are listening because we don’t need more fat cats in office.

I read the article twice and I agree that Chris Christie should know better. how can these guys think they can get away with this crap?

You must be absolutely out of your minds, FITS. This is yet another paid-fluff advertisement. Loftis wants to avoid conflict of interest? How about croneyism of his own? He took millions from the state retirement fund and gave it to his buddy. Sadly, the only statewide elected official lately with any balls is Eckstrom, who was the only one to vote against bailing out SC State. As for Loftis, he voted FOR it.
I looked at Loftis’s campaign disclosures and he has not paid Will any money. it is bad form to lie when the facts are easily disputed.
So just because it doesn’t show up on a campaign disclosure form means it isn’t happen? Please. All the “loans” Curtis makes to himself and then repays to himself are never explained in detail. He thinks he’s slick, but what he really is, is slimy.
This is actually quite ironic. Curt cuts a fraternity brother in on $2,000,000 but has the gall and political stupidity of pointing his finger at someone else. The PEBA board and Art Bjontegard have a provision in their budjet to explore the Bank of NY settlement in which ANY state retiree knows that he/she were screwed. The original firm handling the suit were professional in these matters. Curts frat brother had no back ground but received about 4 times the amount received by Christie’s wife for doing nothing.
This is an absolute abortion of the truth. This is why Loftis must fight RSIC and PEBA…they simply encourage lies in order to maintain control over your $30 billion dollars. I know Curtis well, and he will never stop as long as RSIC and PEBA encourage these lies. Everyone had hoped Mike Hitchcock could stop these lies, but Hitchcock is evidently not up to the task.

As far as the RSIC is concerned; they have been investigated by several bodies including a forenic accounting firm after which they were apologized to publically by a special Senate Committee. All in public record and can be viewed online. By the way, they had nothing to do with the BONY settlement and in fact were told by Loftis that it was basically none of their business. Oddly enough, he was correct. He and his office had full responsibility.

I remember Chris Christie when he was a federal district atty. The stench was awful, but nothing ever stuck to him. The same is happening to him as governor. It will be interesting to see what happens in this presidential race.

Why is no one investigating all the illegal money transfers taking place in the office of state treasurer? And why was there no conflict of interest when Curtis managed to get his personal attorney friend a couple million off of a state deal or when Curtis’ prior chief of staff was the father of Curtis’ business partner at home pest control? Or his new chief of staff just happens to be the daughter of long time family friends? Oh, because our “honest” state treasurer is exempt from what he calls others out on? Why has no one bothered to pull budget info from that office, especially payroll, and expose the truth about how he is “saving” taxpayer money. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. And what a deceitful little squat of a man he is.
