ONLY THE THREAT OF A PRESIDENTIAL VETO WILL END “OMNIBUS” APPROPRIATIONS
By FITSNEWS || U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney says he doesn’t expect the “Republican” Congress to change Washington’s flawed budgeting process any time soon.
During a Facebook Town Hall meeting this week, South Carolina’s fifth district congressman (yes, that’s Frank Underwood‘s district) was asked by a constituent whether he thought the GOP leadership had any appetite to “restrict budget votes to single appropriation bills rather than giant Omnibus bills that hide ridiculous spending.”
“No, not yet,” Mulvaney answered. “My guess is that we will continue to see these huge bills until you have a president (of either party) who threatens to veto them.”
Hmmmm …
In other words nothing is changing … and you’re still getting the shaft.
“I could be wrong – and the appropriations process MIGHT start working again the way it should … but we will know for sure in the next (six) months or so,” Mulvaney added, holding out a small measure of hope.
Mulvaney, a pro-free market businessman (and one of the few degreed economists in the U.S. Congress) voted against the recent “bipartisan” boondoggle. Liberal “Republicans” Lindsey Graham in the Senate and U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson in the House voted in favor of it.
So … who does Mulvaney think would use a presidential veto threat to fix Washington’s bad budgeting?
He didn’t say, but he did make it clear he would not be endorsing the “More Bush” movement for president.
“I think it is safe to say that I wouldn’t be supporting Jeb Bush for the GOP nomination,” he said.

Jeb Bush’s response when told little Mulvaney would not be supporting him. “Who? Is he anybody of importance?”
Answer?
No.
The Republicans in DC won’t change “business as usual,” because they’re in on it. Despite their pandering to the ignorant and credulous “Republican base,” the status quo keeps them in office and provides them with cushy jobs at huge salaries when they leave. Only the People aroused can drive them out, and as we have seen with the recent elections — all the sheep say “baaa.”
“Only the People aroused”
My thoughts exactly.
If he had been so against the bill he wouldn’t have voted to move it forward. Hypocrite.
Depend on Mick to find a way to blame Obama for all the crap Republicans stuffed into the CR Omnibus. Imagine what he would say if Obama called his bluff and vetoed it.
Same thing they did during the Clinton years.
“Anything good was because of the Republican Congress, anything bad was because of the Democrat president!”
Mick is just like Sanfraud. A taker of the first order. He does nothing, but sit around and collect his gubment check, his gubment health care, and gubment retirement. He then bashes poor people who take from society a tiny fraction of what he takes.
Why does anyone pay any attention to this little man (literally and figuratively). He’s done nothing for SC. Don’t expect that to change anytime soon.
Sic Willie does.
Mick is in government because he couldn’t make it in the Private Sector. He isn’t smart enough to make it without a government check or government bail out. He and Sanford are both long term members of the Dim Bulb Club.
