… THE SANDY HOOK GUN LAWSUIT IS RIDICULOUS
By FITSNEWS || Like any violence, gun violence is awful – and an affront to individual liberty. It’s even more awful when the violence involves the loss of human life. Or when the lives lost are children.
That’s why the Sandy Hook shooting of December 2012 was such a tragedy – and why the families who lost their loved ones on that terrible day deserve to be angry and heartbroken at what happened.
But the calculated response of the far left – i.e. the naked, shameless exploitation of this tragedy to advance a rabidly unconstitutional anti-Second Amendment agenda – is every bit as insidious as the shooting itself. Wait … what? How could we possibly say that? Because as much as the left refuses to admit it – guns save lives. Whereas the absence of guns … well, doesn’t.
And a lot of those lives belong to children …
Anyway, ten families touched by the Sandy Hook tragedy have decided to bring a lawsuit against the companies responsible for the manufacture, distribution and sale of Bushmaster AR-15 rifle used by Adam Lanza during his rampage.
Should they be able to do so? No …
“In 2005 Congress enacted the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) specifically to put an end to product liability suits over guns that had been made and sold in accordance with law,” Walter Olson of The Cato Institute noted. “The courts have generally enforced it as written – even the Ninth Circuit’s famously liberal Judge Stephen Reinhardt agreed that it was constitutional – which has mostly, if not entirely, led to the dismissal of such lawsuits.”
Olson added that “the new Connecticut suit seeks to reopen the question by stretching beyond recognition a narrow exception in the law allowing businesses to be sued over ‘negligent entrustment.'”
Interesting …
We don’t really care about the standard of “negligent entrustment” or the specifics of the PLCAA. In our estimation, it is utterly ridiculous that a law had to be passed in order to keep gun manufacturers, distributors or salespeople from being sued as a result of other people’s actions.
Seriously … that’s crazy talk.
Guns do kill people. Just like drones and, occasionally, enhanced interrogation techniques. Oh, and fatty foods. But guns only kill in the hands of killers. Which makes them just like bare hands (bear hands?), butter knives and Zyklon-B.
To blame a gun manufacturer, distributor or salesperson for an act of violence committed by one of their products is the height of insanity.

Guns do not kill people, people kill people,,,,
Especially when they have a gun…
don’t over think it.
Guns don’t kill people, they just make it easier
So simple minded. If you say that, you are too stupid to own a gun.
gun grabber!
From you? Any day.
That’s a start
“Guns do not kill people, people kill people,,,,”
Tiny dicked white boys love them some big guns and some big jacked up pick-up trucks.
Makes them real men.
That’s because we can’t afford to rent rims for our old police cars.
Define,’rims’
Guns don’t kill people, assholes with guns kill people. This should get tons of hits, seeing that you and yours are shameless, uneducated rednecks.
Similarly, assholes with cars kill many more people than assholes with guns each year. Forget regulating the acquisition of the instrument and behavior (age restrictions, speeding, DUI, reckless driving, etc.). I say we outlaw the cars. I guess I’ll be your shameless, uneducated redneck.
If the shoe fits,wear it.
Think how bad it would be if there were uneducated rednecks in Chicago.
There are uneducated rednecks everywhere. If you think otherwise go to a tea party convention anywhere.
You could be right about them being everywhere but I’ve never been to a tea party convention so I wouldn’t know about that.
I have been to a couple of liberal functions and have seen them there.
Uneducated rednecks like you say are everywhere, they aren’t exclusive to one party.
old age kills more people than all other causes combined.
Now *there’s* something upon which we can all agree!
That’s why we have to outlaw old age.
Outlawing Republicans would fix most of this shit.
My guess is that gays have killed more people by tearing their lovers asshole up and spreading AIDS than rednecks have with legal guns.
I am going to research this.
I gave my guns last weekend off. They haven’t returned yet. Hope they are not out killing people.
“I gave my guns last weekend off.”
Horseshit. You gun nuts are afraid of your own shadow – you’d piss (and shit) your pants all weekend if you did not have a gun strapped to you.
They can’t kill people, without idiots like you behind them.
The law has been passed and upheld by the courts. This is a good case for loser pay.
Assualt rifles are designed for one reason only. To kill another person. And for an accessory when little dick motherfuckers want to look butch in their Facebook profile pic or campaign photo.
That’s why my 12 has no photo
I bet you drive a Prius.
Bet you don’t get laid.
I’ll take that bet.
Raping children doesn’t count.
That’s good to know, tell your dad that.
He’s not a child. You’d have trouble trying to rape him. Stick to kids and animals, fat boy.
Actually there are several reasons assault rifles are designed the way they are. One is that a good assault rifle is one of the best home defenses. My favorite is the AR-15, although it is available at WalMart in a one round at a time version, only.
I can tell you from experience, guys into guns are suffering from, penile compensation.
…guys into guns are suffering from, penile compensation.
BULLSHIT,Fuckwad
[just messin’ with ya, Hoss]
It’s okay.Odd how internet arguments can get so heated.I’ll still respect you in the morning;-)
Girl: Will you respect me in the morning?
Guy: Huh? I don’t even respect you now!
>>>>>>>>>
I’ve used that line more than a few times. It’s always good for a laugh the next morning.
All this talk of armaments and sex makes me hungry for a Zesto burger.
I understand —- these threads remind of my kiddie days when we could take old golf balls with the rubber bands inside, and we would slice them open very slowly to watch how the bands split and burst. Sometimes we would be brave enough to hold one in our hand pretending it was an atomic bomb.
to quote my Lowcountry cousins: “Do jeedus, yeah!” I guess holding a splitting golf ball then, is like having a discussion with various firebrands now. Thanks for the shared memory!
I don’t get it.
I bet you’re a meat gazer at the urinal.
No.I go to the handicapped stall, stand up on the commode, for security.Gotta take care of business …
I guess if you were at a regular stall you’re cover would be blown and you’d be known as 3″.
What’s crazy to me is the Skinner box like manipulation of Americans by the gun lobby (ostensibly more about selling gun n ammo than protecting rights) to the point where more Americans now support gun rights than gun control. Yet murder after murder, mass shooting after mass shooting, 3 year olds getting shot playing with daddy’s gun, suicide after suicide has done nothing.
It’s like Americans are immune or hold their hands up to their ears, close their eyes and mumble loudly to block out the reality until it goes away in time for the next shooting to happen.
Lunacy in the western world folks…Rome is truly burning.
What the eff difference does it make what most people think about gun rights vs gun control?
Some things are and ought to be beyond the power of the vote to deny people. The right to keep and bear arms is one of them.
Lunacy and now autocracy apparently.
A few years back one of my neighbors, an attorney with DSS, had a bumper sticker — “Gun Control Means Hitting Your Target”
Why is it that Stalin, Hitler, and Mao ( collectively responsible for the murder of an estimated 100, 000,000 + people) all banned guns once they acquired power? Hmmmm
guns protect people with guns against people with guns. When everyone has a gun, then the most powerful guns will protect people with the most powerful guns against people without the most powerful guns.
…then someone will start shooting.
“… …then some will start shooting.” … And then it will be over, promptly.
If everyone has a gun, you have to imagine there are some teenagers and some waddlers aching to “act tough” who just want in because they are “well armed.” The domino effect may kick in, spreading a single altercation into a multi-block shoot-out with confused participants… who didn’t start it, but by god, are going to finish it!
The movie “The Patriot” comes to mind, too.
Only this time, with A-10 Warthogs against glock 9’s.
Except that the now, the inept stumbling bumbling administration / occupier-in-chief seems unable and unwilling to activate the A-10 squads in the field, at least in Iraq.
unable and unwilling to activate the A-10 squads in the field, at least in Iraq.
——–
you say this like it’s a bad thing.
Yes, but with the overt presence of that A-10 squadron in Q8, the murderous towelheads have had to change their tactics … arguably a good thing.

you mean like peeking around walls?
I have everything from a .22 to a .50 caliber rifle. A .22 will kill you just as dead as a .50 caliber at anything approximating a reasonable range.
would you rather be in a crossfire of single shot bolt-action .22 shorts or air-cooled magazine-fed .50 caliber machine guns?
Since Ma’Duece is a favorite of mine I’ll of course choose to not be assaulting a position so equipped. However, the twenty two shooter has a better chance for a first round hit.
I was thinking of the M82A1A
Semi auto only. A Barrett fired full auto would be completely uncontrollable and would last about 100 rounds. By definition, “machine guns” are full auto.
yeah, well there’s that… but I’d rather be hit in the shoulder with a .22 short, than a .50 caliber round used in either rifle….
I’d be more dead.
An old one, but a good one: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-Luy502C920
This has just the right hokey mookie for a conversation about dicks with guns.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWEQfN39sTo
it’s the gun nut internal dialogue.
Costs less to shoot a semi auto than Ma Duece – and it’s more effective in city.
.308 or 30.30 is cheaper still and has more than enough range to handle any target range you could realistically encounter in a city.
it’s not about effective range… or about the cheapest cartridge.. it’s that old “muscle car” mentality of the South… make the biggest statement – the largest hole…
“When I shoot someone, they *stay* shot!
Hell, if that’s your issue I know a guy selling a “parrot rifle”. Nothing says “stay shot” like a civil war cannon.
I think we’ll have to wait for a slightly more “enlightened” Republican Congress for that scenario.
Joe Biddingtime said it best: “get a shotgun”.
I forget, is the 18 inches from the tip of the load or from the hammer?
Base of the breech or bolt face in battery (ready to fire position) in the case is rifles (16 inches) and shotguns (18 inches). “The ATF procedure for measuring barrel length is to measure from the closed bolt (or breech-face) to the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device. Permanent methods of attachment include full-fusion gas or electric steel-seam welding, high-temperature (1100°F) silver soldering, or blind pinning with the pin head welded over. Barrels are measured by inserting a dowel rod into the barrel until the rod stops against the bolt or breech-face. The rod is then marked at the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device, withdrawn from the barrel, and measured.” http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/national-firearms-act-short-barreled-rifles-shotguns.html
But you’re hung like a cashew ?
You seem interested.
More like a coco de mer…
Hey a man can dream can’t he?
good one
Two lesbians were having a drink at the bar when a good-looking woman waved at them from
across the room.
“Nice,” commented one. “I’d like to get between
her legs sometime soon.”
“No you wouldn’t,” said her friend disparagingly.
“She’s hung like a doughnut.”
I was hoping to see this discussion stay on a higher plain, like let’s stick to movie shootouts …
Can one imagine a Hope and Crosby buddy flick with guns?
Yep, us posters can really go astray. I suppose that’s why these are called “threads” since they can unravel so easily from the initial subject.
“threads”, as in hanging by?
“approximating a reasonable range”
—hopefully longer than an arms length…
The average “gun fight” is generally two rounds at about two feet.
The average gun fight might increase in distance when everyone has .50 caliber sniper rifles with night vision scopes.
Night vision devices tend to cause something called tunnel vision. Tunnel vision is the narrowing of the field off view to the point where it is possible to escape detection simply by moving from concealed/covered position to concealed/covered position while the sniper scans his sector away from your intended route.
It just adds another shooting option… the neighbor at the mailbox, picking up the newspaper… saying goodnight to his sweetheart with a midnight kiss…
They should sue Presto, after their pressure cookers were used at the Boston Marathon.
Right On! Ban The Cooker!
(BTW: Here in North America, Volvos kill more children than guns do. (A statically anomaly, fur sure, but true none the less.)
Didn’t some organization publish statistic a few years ago about how many children choked to death eating peanut butter?
And how about the couple in Richland County who were found dead from a single gunshot through both of their heads? At first the police said murder- suicide. Then folks who knew them said that the woman always insisted that her boyfriend hold the gun to her head while they had sex.
“They should sue Presto, after their pressure cookers were used at the Boston Marathon”
That’s some deep thinking. And mighty Christian of you too.
They ought to sue the fucking Bible if you want to bring up something truly murderous.
Deep thinking? Reread your comment. Isn’t your sarcasm, hypocritical. And you suggest critically that I’m un-Christian, yet seem to despise it’s scriptures.
You don’t need to be a deep thinker to understand that Bushmaster is no more responsible than Case is for deaths caused by their knives or Diamond is for fires caused by their matches. Maybe you’re over thinking it.
“Deep thinking? Reread your comment. Isn’t your sarcasm, hypocritical. And you suggest critically that I’m un-Christian, yet seem to despise it’s scriptures.”
Huh?
“You don’t need to be a deep thinker to understand that Bushmaster is no more responsible than Case is for deaths caused by their knives or Diamond is for fires caused by their matches. Maybe you’re over thinking it.”
Duh!
Why is it those who don’t know shit about guns call AR-15’s “Bushmaster”? Bushmaster is a gun manufacturer like Colt, Remington, and Winchester. Not every AR-15 is a Bushmaster AR-15, in fact I’d say less than 20% are. If Bushmaster went out of business because of this lawsuit, which they won’t, the dozens of other AR-15 manufacturers would pick up their slack the next day.
Well, if a legal precedent was set that drove Bushmaster out of business due to liability of what their customers do with guns, this would definitely create problems for other manufacturers of AR15 lowers.
Yeah, like that’ll happen, unless Obama issues another Executive Order.
What’s your answer to the millions of AR-15’s already in citizens hands?
AR-15 lower CAD drawings are available online for free if you know where to look, I’ve seen several photos of ones created with 3D printers.
The lawsuit had been filed, that’s where the precident could be set. It would have nothing to do with Obama.
I have no idea where you are going with the rest of your post.
I’m still wondering why Mexico does not have a Second Amendment.
Jesus, the gun control crowd is “every bit as insidious” as a mass murderer shooting up some place? That might be adequate if they were busting down your doors and beating you bloody to take your guns, but that only happens in the warped fantasies of psycho gun nuts.
It’s pretty sad someone actually believes that some silly lawsuit or dumbass gun control law is on par with a crazed fucktard spraying bullets at kids in any form whatsoever.
Have seen the regional fanaticism for guns explained as part of a deep-rooted psychological effect of losing the Civil War. “We’ll be ready the next time Uncle Billy tries anything.” Just a theory of course.
It’s not regional anymore, Face.
Arizona has open carry laws. Picture a biker gang, each strapped with Colt 1911s …
A comb and a magazine publication: what do they have in common?
1) legal to purchase in all states
2) no registration required
3) no age requirement for purchase
4) open carry legal in all states
5) lightweight and very inexpensive
6) no concealed carry permit required
7) both can be deadly lethal — if necessary
“… Because as much as the left refuses to admit it – guns save lives. Whereas the absence of guns … well, doesn’t. …”
And protect private property, too …
Perfect example today on Fox Snooze: Two cute little women holding robbers at gun point until the cops could show up.
Sue Big Alcohol. A cop once told me that were alcohol banned, 90% of the police force would be without work.Death due to alcohol fueled homicides— either by drunk driving, or by guns, knives, fists, bats, broken bottles, blunt trauma, etc. is so unnecessary. Sue Big Beer!
That’s absurd. Banning drugs creates an enormous need for law enforcement to uphold the ban that everyone wants to violate.
We already tried that once, didn’t work.

Allowing this lawsuit to go forward is wrong on so many levels. If you extend this lawsuit then I’ll be able to sue Ford because someone ran into my car and killed someone. Since Ford made the car and they knew it could do this then I can sue them. I can also sue the tire maker since they knew people would use their product to drive a car. The weapon was bought legally, was not modified. Its a tragedy this happened, but the manufacture of the weapon did everything they were suppose under the law.
The real villain is the bottom feeding lawyers attempting to profit on the misery of the parents of the children. Why aren’t people up in arms about that. The lawyers know they don’t have a case but they’ll push it thru hoping Bushmaster will settle out of court and the lawyers draw a big fat fee.
I hope Bushmaster fights this all the way to the Supreme Court. They didn’t nothing wrong. The sum feeding lawyers are committing in my opinion extortion. Either give a ton of money or we’ll take you court.
We should have a national lawyer day where you pay a fee and hunt them like the vermin they are. You can’t hunt them in front of a court house, a wreck or the emergency room……That’s hunting over a batied field.
“… Gun related deaths of U.S. law enforcement officers rose by 56 percent in 2014 compared to the previous year, with about one-third of officers killed in an ambush …

They may want to consider a class action lawsuit against the department of transportation, to justify the slaughter of motorists on the highway systems that they financed. It kills thousands every year. They may also want to consider the vehicle manufactures also
