STATUS UPGRADE FOR ESTABLISHMENT “REPUBLICAN”

By FITSNEWS  ||  Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will “actively explore the possibility of running for president of the United States.”

We know … because it was on Facebook.

“Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!” Bush wrote on the social networking giant.  “Like many of you, our family was blessed with the opportunity to gather together over the recent Thanksgiving holiday.  Columba and I are so proud of the wonderful adults our children have become, and we loved spending time with our three precious grandchildren.  We shared good food and watched a whole lot of football.”

Ummm … hmmmm …

“We also talked about the future of our nation …”

Ahhh … now he’s getting somewhere.

“As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States,” Bush wrote.  “In January, I also plan to establish a Leadership PAC that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation. The PAC’s purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.”

Actually, the PAC’s purpose will be to collect unseemly gobs of special interest money from the “Republican” establishment – and use that money to promote Bush and tear down his would-be rivals for the 2016 presidential nod.

This website has addressed Bush’s presumptive candidacy on several prior occasions – most recently HERE and HERE.

What do we think of him?

Eh … Bush, who led the Sunshine State from 1999-2007, did some good things as a governor.  For example, he consistently embraced expanded choices for parents – a decision which has paid tremendous dividends for Florida school children.

Hell, the average low income child in Florida is now faring better academically than the average South Carolina student … and Bush deserves a lot of the credit for that.

Of course Bush has veered wildly to the left since leaving office – emerging as one of the top “Republican” apologists for Common Core, the federal government’s controversial standardized curriculum.  Bush is also a top GOP supporter of amnesty for illegal aliens – another position that will put him squarely at odds with early-voting “Republicans” in South Carolina.

More problematically, he’s expressed his support for tax hikes … putting him in the same camp as fiscally liberal “Republicans” like Lindsey Graham.  He and Graham area also on the same page when it comes to the perpetuation of America’s failed “neoconservative” global interventionist foreign policy.

“The higher he rises the further he veers to the left,” we wrote of Bush.  “We can’t back someone on such a trajectory … and nor should you.”

Of course Bush is banking on the Palmetto State backing him – just as it backed his father (former president George H.W. Bush) and his brother (former president George W. Bush).

And South Carolina … despite our best efforts to the contrary … is indeed that stupid.

“It’s his road to the White House,” former SCGOP chairman Katon Dawson told Politico. “It’s where he rights his ship.”

Meanwhile another old guard “Republican” – Barry Wynn of Spartanburg, S.C. – said all the state’s GOP dinosaurs are ready to rally around Bush’s candidacy.

“I think Jeb has an advantage in South Carolina in that he has an infrastructure that could be resuscitated,” Wynn told Politico, referring to the likes of former U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins and Florence, S.C. physician and mega-donor Eddie Floyd.

Jeez … Wynn?  Wilkins?  Floyd?  Seriously … it’s 1992 and 2000 all over again.

But hey … things worked out so well last time, right?  Right?

It’s going to be a Sumo match between Jeb and Chris Christie first…and the winner better be careful while doing a victory lap or a heart attack might stop his reign on the spot.

Jeb attended Andover while it was still an all-boys school, and it was during his junior year as an exchange student in Mexico that he met his future wife.

I could tell you stories about the semi-monastic life in a New England all-male boarding school!

Substitute Communism for your words ISIS and radical Islam and that was pretty much what Goldwater said back in 1964.

And what the Hell? The voters rejected him and FIFTY years later a guy like you can still say that kinda stuff.

Probably around 2064 there will be someone else predicting the end if we all just don’t vote Republican!

2064? Hell, it will be 2016, 2020, 2024, 2028 —– and then the GOP will no longer be a party – split during the great fissure of 2029, when the Tea Soda Pop Party split off and created two new parties, the White Sheets and the Heat Packers.

Obama just lost Florida for the Dems in 2016 by violating the law and normalizing relations with Cuba. LMAO!!!!

vicupstate December 17, 2014 at 10:07 am

Yeah, because Cuban Americans have long been a solid Democratic voting block.

Rocky December 17, 2014 at 11:57 am

Contrary to your belief, many Cubans are now second generation Cubans and want to normalize relations with Cuba. Many go home every year now. In fact, what they didn’t like about GWB was he limited their ability to travel and send money home. And of course, Cubans make up a small minority of hispanics in Florida. THere are more Puerto Ricans, South Americans (Brazilians, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venuzela), and Central Americans – including Panamanians. Have you ever even been to South Beach? And if so, were you wearing black socks and white sneakers?

Flip Coscoe December 17, 2014 at 1:14 pm

Obama did this today because the Castro’s were getting ready to be ‘hung’ and removed from power and Obama has never met a Marxist he wouldn’t sell the USA out for.

I can restrict my criticism of Jeb to his record. I need not use gossip or get personal. The story of Jeb cheating has no legs.

“I can restrict my criticism of Jeb to his record. I need not use gossip or get personal.”

So do you hold that same criteria for Sanford as well?

You don’t think people’s personal lives will reflect on the job they do?

I think that’s preposterous, but whatever floats your boat. The story does have legs in my opinion, otherwise ABC wouldn’t have run with it either.

Something tells me you wouldn’t feel the same way about Bill Clinton either.

Bible Thumper December 17, 2014 at 10:16 am

The gossip and the fact that Jeb found it necessary to respond publicly made it news. Nothing in the article indicates any truth to the allegation.
Sanford’s affair was verified by his own admission. Yes, it does effect his fitness for office. I don’t expect perfection.
Excuse me. I got out of the high and mighty side of the bed this morning. I forgot I was commenting on fits, where the standards are lower.

Three's company December 17, 2014 at 10:19 am

Well, you and I can disagree about whether the articles about Jeb are “true” or not, that’s fine.

I can make latitude for your wrong side of the bed thing too, so that’s fine.

That being said, I never meant it to be about Jeb’s wife, you suggested that…I was focused on Jeb’s behavior.

When these people seek office to control everyone else’s life, the bar, or as you put it “standards”, should be very high for such people, regardless of where the commentary is made.

No way he’s going to South Carolina primary with immigration still out there. Can you just here the robo-calls from Perry and Cruz now? “Ex-governor Jeb Bush, claims to be a conservative and a true American. The truth is, Bush married an illegal alien, and then allowed her to leverage their anchor baby children to remain in the country. His privilaged status as the son of a former President allowed his wife to skate the law, while violating our borders. Now he wants to be President, and open the gates from Mexico to the United States. Heck, the don’t even speak English in his home. He speaks Spanish. Are we ready to turn the White House into Casa Blanco – Home of the Tortilla?”

U.S. District Court Judge Arthur Schwab issued the first-of-its-kind ruling Tuesday in the case of Elionardo Juarez-Escobar, a Honduran immigrant charged in federal court with unlawful re-entry after being arrested earlier this year in Pennsylvania for drunk driving.

“President Obama’s unilateral legislative action violates the separation of powers provided for in the United States Constitution as well as the Take Care Clause, and therefore, is unconstitutional,” Schwab wrote in his 38-page opinion (posted here). “President Obama’s November 20, 2014 Executive Action goes beyond prosecutorial discretion because: (a) it provides for a systematic and rigid process by which a broad group of individuals will be treated differently than others based upon arbitrary classifications, rather than case-by-case examination; and (b) it allows undocumented immigrants, who fall within these broad categories, to obtain substantive rights.”

That ruling suggests what the judge feels is that all illegal immigrants should be given consideration in a court room, meaning they are free to stay here until that court date – or essentially, amnesty for the 3-5 year waiting period for your court date.

Great – a legacy race.
In this corner – the former Senator, Secretary of State and First Lady – who’s husband created over 23 million jobs, reigned over the greatest economc expansion in US history, with increasing wages, a boom for manufacturing jobs and an expanding middle class.
In the other corner – the former Governor of Florida, who championed keeping a brain-dead lady on life support for decades, who’s family has left the American tax payers with two financial industry bail outs (Daddy – S&L crisis, Big Bro – TARP), left the American people with deep recessions – each one worst than the last – and a net loss of jobs.
Now that’s an election story line that we can all enjoy watching. You all realize both Hillary and Jeb will run on their family records. Hillary has 8 years of expansion. Jeb has the 1990 Recession and the Great Recession.

Manray9 December 17, 2014 at 11:05 am

Don’t forget to add on Bill Clinton’s side of the ledger: Signing the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 that cut long-term capital gains from 28% to 20% and reduced the 15% bracket to 10% thereby accelerating the shift of the federal tax burden from the so-called “investor class” and onto the backs of wage and salary earners. Also don’t forget NAFTA and it’s impact on high-wage American jobs, Welfare Reform, and the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act without which the financial meltdown of 2008-2009 wouldn’t have been possible. At least the Bushes admit to being Republicans instead of masquerading as Democrats.
