FORMER GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE ACCUSED OF BREAKING HIS WORD TO STATION EMPLOYEES

By FITSNEWS || Former “independent Republican” South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Tom Ervin has dumped three Upstate radio stations he owns – reportedly donating them to a Greenville, S.C.-based Gospel radio firm.

The stations – WRIX AM 1020, WRIX FM 103.1 FM and WANS 1280 AM – were purchased by Ervin in 2013.  Terms of the deal were not immediately available, but not everyone was pleased with Ervin’s decision.

Jeff Bright – who works with Clemson University’s broadcast production outfit – blasted Ervin for dishonesty in the negotiating process.

“The (stations) were sold to a group out of Greenville that owns seventeen other Southern Gospel radio stations,” Bright wrote.  “I wish the new owners good luck.  They were a part of a business decision and I have no ill will with them at all.  What I’am most upset about is the fact that a lot of people worked behind the scenes to help make the change and we got screwed.”

Bright says Ervin wasn’t “forthcoming” regarding his intentions and that assurances were made to hi and others that WRIX FM would not be sold.

Specifically, sources say Ervin promised employees running the morning show the first opportunity to purchase the station, and a group of locals had reportedly begun some capital venture work to do just that.

“He did not keep his promise to them, instead showing up at the station with the new owners unannounced,” a source familiar with the situation tells FITS.

WRIX FM’s morning show has been broadcasting for more than three decades.

Obviously this website respects Ervin’s right to do as he wishes with his assets.  At the end of the day he owns them and should be allowed to sell (or give) them to anyone he chooses.

Having said that, people ought to shoot straight regarding their intentions … and it’s abundantly clear there was some miscommunication between the parties involved in this situation.

A former state lawmaker and circuit court judge, Ervin campaigned for governor as a petition candidate before dropping out of the race a week before election day and endorsing Democrat Vincent Sheheen.

Gotta love the Libertarian, Will Folks, meddling in the private commercial affairs of individuals. In no way does this matter relate to the public interest or the business of state.

Agreed.

Very suspicious behavior.

If one didn’t know better, one might think he was just another Republican.

Ervin accepted almost $100,000 in donor money in his run for governor-then quit a week before the election. Did he return the money to the donors? I bet not?

Fucking the voters and taxpayers out of $100 GRAND, in my opinion, is a matter of public interest.

Apparently ‘traitor’ Tommy got him a problem with ‘ethics’. Does anybody really believe he spent almost 4 MILLION $$$$ of his own money for 0.92% of the vote?

As a lawyer, his next problem is that Jean Toal is his judge. She hates Tom, even though he is really a Democrat. Goes back to his telling legislators the truth about Jean a decade or so ago during one of the judicial elections. Jean does not like people knowing the truth about her. For those who really don’t know, Jean’s ethical enforcement system is, well, just her. With no rules or anything. Just whatever she decides. Poor Tom

First rental agreements, now radio stations. Both times he’s basically said “Wow, that’s a real dick thing to do.” And that’s with what I’m sure is only one side of the story.

But don’t worry, if we tear down government regulations and destroy entire regulatory agencies and let the Free Market™ work it’s magic, people and businesses totally won’t be complete dicks and fuck each other and the consumers over in the name of profits!

It does matter to the business of the state. Private matters reflect on character.

Oh, sorry. I thought I was on the Lewinsky Clinton thread.

You are right, private matters are not public affairs.

Waiting for the tell all book on why he “really” ran as a candidate for Governor

Would like to think it was all part of a master plan to unseat the Gypsy Queen

Odds are will probably find out that the took his dick out one morning, realized it served no useful purpose anymore, so he decided to keep it out, travel all over the State and subsequently piss on the dreams of everyone who wanted the Gypsy Queen’s head in a sawgrass basket

Fucking Cockroach

I grew up listening to the Matt and Bev show on WRIX. Great local radio show. For those who remember, the station was originally in Honea Path, SC before moving to Anderson.

But this is silly. It’s all about using the radio to spread the word. Tom’s focus is on spreading the word and bring more people into the light of Jesus. Just sounds like “sour whine” to me.
