By FITSNEWS || A white police chief from a small South Carolina town has been charged with murder stemming from the 2011 shooting death of an unarmed black man.
Richard Combs – the former police chief of Eutawville, S.C. – shot and killed 54-year-old Bernard Bailey in May 2011 following an argument over a ticket the Bailey’s daughter received for a busted vehicle tail light.
Bailey was shot twice in the chest by Combs following a scuffle in the police chief’s office.
The decision to charge Combs with murder came as a surprise seeing as the town of Eutawville (population: 300) recently settled a wrongful death case brought by Bailey’s family for $400,000. Not only that, a U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) investigation determined last March that Combs did not violate Bailey’s civil rights.
Oh well … just as the facts of the case in Ferguson, Missouri led to a decision not to indict a white cop for shooting an unarmed black robbery suspect (much to the chagrin of racial agitators and ratings-starved media outlets), the facts in this case have led to a decision to indict.
Now it’s in the hands of the South Carolina justice system …
Combs – who is already facing a misconduct in office charge related to the shooting – could face thirty years to life in prison if convicted.

The matter is in a proper venue — a jury of his peers.
…because there was evidently, in the opinion of the Grand Jury, probable cause to believe he committed a crime. When a Grand Jury likewise finds no such probable cause, the “proper” course of action is a no-bill. Every case is different, but they don’t all go to trial. That is our system, and it’s a good one.
Wait… a *white* police chief? Am I reading that right?
Even further, because “facts” were used, it’s a good indictment. A perfect opportunity to show that the Justus system works and that the findings if Ferguson were based on “facts” and justified as well….

Justus – Justice
I meant it just like I spelled it.
Popular civil rights activist meme/slogan, of long standing:
“There is no Justice– There is JustUs.”
Meant that for “The Colonel.”
You usually get as much justice as you can afford.SC no longer has a Public Defender’s office. You have the right to a Pro Bono attorney,if you’re lucky, and one feels like seeing you.If it’s not a serious ‘crime’,you’ll get out after you’ve done your time in jail, whether you’re guilty or not…
The MAN is holding the black folk down in Eutaville.

Yep, a “white police chief” is about as rare as a “white doctor” in a television ad….
WHAT?? Burn this m*&^%$ down!
He’ll walk. This is SC. We’re more worried about gom fetting his retirement pay.

When a prosecutor has the balls to seek an indictment, he gets an indictment. When a prosecutor goes to the grand jury seeking a no bill, he gets a no bill.
Turns out Timothy Loehmann, the police officer and nice Catholic schoolboy who shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice to death in a Cleveland park, couldn’t hack it on a small town force, so he took his talents to Cleveland.
“Distracted and weepy” — that’s how a suburban police department described Loehmann back in November 2012, after Loehmann basically flunked the force’s firearms qualification training. Supervisors described Loehmann’s handgun performance as “dismal,” which has a whole new ring to it now that we’re nearly two weeks removed from the death of Rice. According to Cleveland.com.
It’s still unclear whether the Cleveland P.D. asked their brother officers in Independence why they’d let an outstanding cop like Loehmann get away. One way or another, Loehmann couldn’t pass muster in Independence (pop. 7,133), so he decided to apply to the Cleveland Police Department, who may want to review their hiring procedures. The story apparently went to press before they got a response from the police, but The Guardian followed up and got this cryptic answer about Loehmann’s perhaps-nonexistent reference check.
In March of this year, Loehmann was hired by the Cleveland police department. It is unclear whether the department had seen the Independence memo at the time of Loehmann’s hiring.
Yr Wonket would like to commend Cleveland police spokesman Sgt. Pillow for issuing such a completely and utterly vacuous statement. It’s good to know at least some of you guys know how to do your jobs properly.
Anyway, back to this Loehmann guy, the shooty one who couldn’t stop crying or whatever. In the words of a younger Arnold Schwarzenegger, why do you cry?
Don’t judge, Wonketeers. Think of all the times you’ve been hired onto a new job, and then you just break down crying and dump all your emotional baggage on your new boss, and you whine about how no one likes you except for some septuagenarian priest, and even then, you’re pretty sure he’s just hanging out with you because he has to. Happens to lots of people, probably.
Polak’s report details other incidents that — combined with Loehmann’s hot, salty, gun-range man-tears – led him to believe that Loehmann was never going to show “the maturity needed to work in our employment.” The Cleveland Police Department did not seem to share Deputy Chief Polak’s concerns, though they’re probably rethinking that position right now.
You can read the full report from the Independence Police Department here. We would like to thank the professionals at Pinkerton Global Screening Solutions for their meticulous record keeping (no, seriously, check out the second page of the report). And it’s nice to know that at least some in the media think it’s important to look into the background of the cop who killed a kid, instead of just looking into what the kid or his parents must have done wrong to get himself killed in the first place.

Yesterday afternoon a Staten Island grand jury failed to indict NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the killing of Eric Garner, the black Staten Island man who died as a direct result of the chokehold employed by Officer Pantaleo. “Now that the local investigation has concluded,” U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder declared in a statement last night, “I am here to announce that the Justice Department will proceed with a federal civil rights investigation into Mr. Garner’s death.”

The medical examiner called it a homicide and there’s even a video of the incident. Fucked up, man.

Bad call by the Grand Jury. The video is pretty conclusive.
All of that said, Holder has no standing, there is no evidence of any civil rights violations. He should be spending his time recovering the weapons he let slip across the border, investigating the indictable actions of the IRS and finding a job he actually can handle.
Yawn, he just eliminated a thug in the making. How many kids with half a brain know you don’t go around pointing guns that look like real guns at people, and you don’t attempt to quickdraw against a cop who is barking orders at you.
Washington Post also had that incredibly good supervisory documentation on that loon in Cleveland yesterday’s paper.
And, as I recall, that’s pretty much what happened with Combs. When he first shot the guy, the Post and Courier had piece after piece about his employment history. Enough to make it look like he screwed up at various LE offices and kept being allowed to resign rather than be fired. And, he finally ended up in the place where he went off the deep end.
Geez, it seems to fall under the radar that one of North Augusta’s “finest’ chased a man for alleged DUI 10 miles out side of the city limits, then shot him repeatedly thru the door of the suspects automobile, while Edgefield County deputies looked on in dis-belief!
I think that’s a run on sentence.
At least the officer didn’t have to chase him through the Valley to get him. Those hillbillys down there are just too much!
Isn’t it odd that in our little “backwards assed racially prejudiced” state that if you shoot someone and you shouldn’t have you get indicted?
Even a blind squirrel gets a nut every once in a while. This is still an ass backward state though.
What difference does color make?
If this happened in 2011, why did it take three years to get an indictment?
It’s about time! http://www.postandcourier.com/artic…/20141204/PC16/141209765
Combs got caught in Mr. Bailey’s steering wheel, so he had to kill him.
