AND THEY’RE WILLING TO BULLY YOU TO STOP IT …
By FITSNEWS || We recently posted an item about S.C. Rep. Greg Duckworth – a newly elected “Republican” from North Myrtle Beach, S.C. who apparently believes the best way to silence his critics is to sue them.
Duckworth should fit right in at the S.C. State House, where the most powerful elected officials in the state respond to criticism the same way our founding editor’s eleven-month-old daughter responds when she doesn’t get her way.
Which is to say loud, shrill, seemingly interminable shrieking …
Seriously, the skin of the average lawmaker is thinner than the garlic sliced by Paul Cicero in the movie Goodfellas. And it appears to be getting even thinner.
In their latest bid to mute the popular dissent, lawmakers have proposed modifying the rules for anyone providing testimony before legislative committees. Under the new proposed guidelines, any citizen who provides “materially incomplete” testimony to a committee could face jail time. And of course the definition of “material incompleteness” is left to the discretion of … you guessed it … lawmakers.
Additionally, lawmakers want citizens who testify to provide the names of those who bankroll their organizations.
Crazy …
These ass hats – who blow billions of your tax dollars each year – refuse to disclose their incomes, yet they want private citizens funded by private sources to reveal where they get their money?
That’s pure hypocrisy … although we shouldn’t be surprised given the rampant corruption under the State House dome.
“Is there a serious problem – or even a minor problem – with citizens lying when they come before their elected representatives to express concern or support for legislation before the General Assembly?”reporter Jamie Murguia of The Nerve recently wondered. “Or is this intended merely to scare citizens away from putting their concerns before lawmakers, face to face?”
Duh …
It boils down thusly: These people want to shut you up so they can continue robbing you blind.
And you’re letting them do it.
Anyway, for more on these contemptible efforts to bully the public check out this link from our friends at the libertarian leaning S.C. Policy Council.

So I goes to the landlady,
I said, “You let me slide?
I’ll have the rent for you tomorrow….
…the next day, I don’t know”
So she let me slide it on, you know, people,
.. I notice when I come home in the evenin’
She ain’t got nothing nice to say to me,
but for five year she was so nice
Lord, she was lovey-dovey,
I come home one particular evnin’
The landlady said, “You got the rent money yet?”
I said, “No, I can’t find no job
That’s why I ain’t got no money to pay the rent”
She said “I don’t believe you’re *tryin’* to find no job”
said, “I seen you today you was standin’ on a corner,
leaning up against a *post*”
I said “But I’m tired, I been walkin’ all day…”
She said “That don’t confront me,
long as I get my money next Friday”
Now next Friday come, I didn’t have the rent,
and out the door I went!

FITS is such a hypocrite…You Liberals and Liberal-Tarians get the courts to MUTE the voice of the people…
80% of us don’t think marriage should be defined for your tiny gaggle of political special interests. But you got your leftwing, corrupt judges to do it anyway. So STFU, because you squeal like spoiled brats when you are told NO….and you attack anyone not as delusional and as morally bankrupt as you are…
Ibuprofen manufacturers will make sure no one mutes you. $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Judges, as I understand it, interpret the law and how it’s applied to all. So somehow because they didn’t agree with you to “exclude” people from having rights – like back in dem der olden times whenz you could have separate but equal education for de blackies – you blame it on FITS or Liberals? Interpretation of the law, and the rule of law, generally is a-political. Just because you don’t like it – tough titties. Speaking of that – how’s the missus?
You have ALL rights as an American citizen…you lying debacle of debris…no court should give you the privilege to REDEFINE marriage based on your obscure sexual preference….
In the federal government, the Holy Trinity consists of fraud, waste, and abuse. This is what gets investigations started. What we have here is a 1st amendment issue. You should be able to talk about what you know without threat of retaliation. These rulemakers are chilling a person’s 1st amendment right to free speech. Brr-rrrrrrrrr
Ask Duckworth who really bankrolled him in his successful bid to unseat Tracy Edge.
Will, you could do a whole series on issues involving Duckworth and his masters. But that would involve you dealing with stuff in Horry County you stopped dealing with at all. Sure hope you have a good source to get you up to speed on what you’ve missed in the last year and a half or so, so you can be “cutting edge”, or appear to be, when the shit hits the fan.
I’m still here and still tuned in, btw. You know how to contact me.
Buz, it is time for lunch. Go see if you can find Elmer. He is in his room watching –”One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” .
‘Ask Duckworth who really bankrolled him in his successful bid to unseat Tracy Edge.’
Why doesn’t the SC State House just subpoena you and we eliminate Fits as the middle man for all that information you have before the ‘shit hits the fan’???? :-)
You can’t make this shit up.
“The Kangaroo Bro’s” — any kin to “The Boomerang Family” from your SNOB days, pogo?
In my time, I have seen and experienced even some SC lawyers doing some pretty crazy and illegal shit. In the real world, the lawyers would have been charged and arrested for Federal Civil Rights crimes. As to lawmakers, yeah …. even seen some assist with covering up both state and federal crimes, too. And you think street crime is bad? This guy here is a real power and control freak. He needs to be taught a lesson and be run through the wringer.
The “proposed guidelines” referenced above were sponsored by Reps. Bruce Bannister (R-Greenville), Kris Crawford (R-Florence) and Alan Clemmons (R-Horry). Witnesses before a House committee would be sworn, and if they give “misleading or materially incomplete” testimony they could be charged with contempt of the General Assembly.
My fantasy is Alan Clemmons being sworn before the Transportation Committee and being asked how many jobs I-73 would create.
“My fantasy is Alan Clemmons being sworn before the Transportation Committee and being asked how many jobs I-73 would create.”
See, that’s the thing…if they make the law applicable to themselves via independent committee…meaning outside of legislatures influence(good luck with that one), then I’m all for it.
The bar for proof for “misleading” should be very high and “materially incomplete” thrown right out the window.
“Is someone deliberately lying or not?”
That should be the question. The fact they want control over the process itself shows you what a bunch of pigs they are.
I have no problem with defamation/libel suits as proving such is difficult and should dissuade sane people from purposely lying to destroy someone.
Beyond that though, as vague & aggressive form to control speech is nothing more than our masters looking to tamp down dissent.
I have a question..
what is the price for generic METHAMPHETAMINE HCL 5mg, 90 count in South Carolina?
Street* or kosher?
*includes dirt roads in Lexington County
desoxyn USP – generic.
“I figure my teeth will outlive me now, at any rate.”
You’re just not committed enough.
They won’t take me in lock-up anymore.. I’ve worn out my welcome
I have no problem with people having to say who is paying them to testify. That is material information. Corrupt politicians and big money is rapidly taking over all government. Mitch McConnell is currently pressing legislation in Washington that would eliminate the prohibition of Super Pacs coordinating with campaigns. This is the ultimate goal of Citizens Untied, and the Republican Party. If successful, a Corporation will be allowed to expend unlimited funds to get a politician elected to a specific office. They will be able to fully coordinate with that candidate’s campaign. In short the Koch Brothers will be able to go to a politician and say if you support x, y, and Z we will commit unlimited money to get you elected.
This could truly be an end to Representative Democracy.
Main thing is…just keep voting the GOP into office no matter what. It’s worked so far for S.C….why fix what ain’t broke right?
