IT’S ALL ABOUT TAKING …
By BILL WILSON || The modus operandi of America’s far left isn’t subtle: It’s all about “taking.” Money, property, privacy, speech, guns — you name it. Everywhere we look, the foundational underpinnings of our once-free, once-prosperous society are being encroached upon by government’s emboldened totalitarian impulses.
Which brings us to the No. 1 thing they are taking from us: Control — over our lives, our livelihoods and our children.
For the American people the arc toward totalitarianism has been accompanied by unsustainable government debt, soaring dependency, economic stagnation and the steady decline of individual liberty. For those in charge, though, it’s meant more money, more power and more patronage.
Author Jason Mattera had the audacity to walk into a public building in Washington, D.C. recently and ask one of the architects/ profiteers of this totalitarianism — Senate majority leader Harry Reid — how he managed to become a multimillionaire in the service of the public. Reid refused to respond to Mattera’s questions, but one of his henchmen did — grabbing the author and violently pinning him up against a wall.
When Mattera protested that he was a member of the media, the henchman replied “I don’t care if you’re press or not.”
Sadly, this sort of thuggish, third world behavior shouldn’t surprise us. After all Barack Obama’s Justice Department didn’t care that Fox News reporter James Rosen was a reporter when it decided to spy on him — just like it spied on reporters and editors at three Associated Press bureaus in an effort to identify the outlet’s sources. Far from representing a living, breathing set of principles that government is sworn to uphold, the First Amendment has become an obstacle to surmount. Not just a relic, a nuisance.
Just ask U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, who in the aftermath of the 2011 shooting of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remarked that America needed to “rethink parameters on free speech.”
The left never lets a crisis go to waste — especially if that crisis involves guns. In Connecticut, for example, Gov. Daniel Malloy wants to require parents who homeschool their children to periodically present them before government panels so their “social and emotional learning needs” can be assessed. The stated excuse for such an invasive policy? The perpetrator of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre was briefly homeschooled by his parents.

More idiocy from the right.
Wilson, Rich, Manning, Cato, ALG, it’s all the same.
Yes … those damn lovers of freedom. What are they thinking? Off with their heads!
Let’s see, organizations originating from the Koch brothers, who take in anonymous donations from billionaires and corporations. Definitely the guys I’d expect to look out for the “freedoms” of the little guy.
The wolves appreciate it when they embolden the sheep just enough to chase off the foxes. Just enough, but no more.
So it would be easy to expect you feel the same way about George Soros?
As I’ve said in several other threads, rather than argue over which billionaire’s influence is worse, I’d rather get rid of moneyed influences altogether.
Damn I’ve said the same thing, only voters get to donate to candidates and if we limited the amount politicians wouldn’t be campaigning two years out.
Almost forgot, politicians can’t use their personal wealth to get elected.
” I’d rather get rid of moneyed influences altogether.”
The only way that happens is by eliminating gov’t. Otherwise, it’s pure fantasy.
That would be a Utopian idea I could live with. Unfortunately, reality crashes in and we are flooded with myopic mopes who point out the other guy’s Billionaires while ignoring their own. Truth be told the rich guys couldn’t care less about your support as long as their goals are met. The most positive thing I can say is our system lets a poor man rise as high as his hard work takes him, for the most part. I’ve personally have been “down and out” on three occasions, and while I’m far from rich, I’m not sweating my EBT balance either.
Ah but you see that is the problem. You say “our system lets a poor man rise as high as his hard work takes him, for the most part.” That was true for most of the last century. However, in the last part of the 19th Century and the early part of the 20th Century, that was far from true. Society was clearly divided into classes. The wealthy were educated and privileged. They controlled industry and the Government. The poor were ignored and treated largely as slaves for the factories and businesses of the wealthy. Their education system was either non-existent or designed to keep them dumb and dependant on the factory job they were born to have. Children as young as 5 and 6 were forced to work in dangerous factories to help their parents survive.
The middle class was very small. They got by mainly through subsistence farming and running shops. We were still an agrarian society with 75%+ of the nations population involved in farming in some way.
After the depression and war, the power of the American Oligarchs (robber barons) was finally crushed and the middle class exploded. Decent public education became widely available, the GI Bill allowed middle class and poor people to go to college for the first time. Finally social support networks, like social security allowed middle class families to take financial risk. Average people were no longer locked into a cycle of fear of starvation when they became too old to work and having to provide for the support of their parents and grandparents.
Now the oligarchs are on the rise again. And what do they attack? The vary infrastructure that created the middle class in the first place. Public education, programs designed to send poor and middle class kids to college, and a social support structure for when people are too old or too sick to work. America is going backwards. A new financial elite has arisen and they intend to use their wealth to control government for their benefit. At the expense of everyone else.
Here is one example of how the mega-wealthy play ball.

As good as that sounds, it ain’t gonna happen.
It ain’t gonna happen because one party, yours, has no interest in that happening. In fact they are trying to make it easier for large corporations to pay money to influence legislation. So why pretend there is any effort to make it happen. And if there is no way to do it, why did Republicans fight so hard in the Citizens United Case.
George Soros does not set up floating money laundering organizations that change their names and move from state to state to fight solar energy and other things that might affect their business bottom line and persuade the simple minded that they do it for reasons of political/ideological purity.
“..George Soros does not set up floating money laundering organizations that change their names and move from state to state to fight…”
I guess he must have stopped that practice yesterday, here’s just a partial list of Soros backed organizations:
Advancement Project: This organization works to organize “communities of color” into politically cohesive units while disseminating its leftist worldviews and values as broadly as possible by way of a sophisticated communications department.
Air America Radio: Now defunct, this was a self-identified “liberal” radio network.
All of Us or None: This organization seeks to change voting laws — which vary from state to state — so as to allow ex-inmates, parolees, and even current inmates to cast their ballots in political elections
Aww, screw it, look at them yourself: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/viewSubCategory.asp?id=1237
Harry don’t you have work to do? Get off the computer.
They’re not thinking, and neither are you.If this blog thing goes bust, you could probably become an infomercial actor.
That’s how unreal your world is,if you’re serious about the things you say, here.
The New American Oligarchs pretending to be worried about the freedom of the serfs.
Why is this “lover of freedom” concerned about MultiMillionaires for?
Who do you think OWNS,
“Americans For LimitedGovernment?”
Who the hell are you or your fascist/Libertarian/Koch/Cato sponsors to define ‘lover of freedom’ or ‘patriot’ – another favorite you sling around to describe your traitorous selves?
You people show your contempt for this country every time you say ‘compromise’ like it’s a dirty word.
Tell us, are you actually so ignorant that you don’t know the only way we have a Constitution – which you and your ilk PRETEND to love – is because the Founders – who you also PRETEND to love – compromised?
Or, are you just the biggest bunch of political liars that this country has ever seen?
Don’t tread on me, unless you wish to die. Want me to post your real name and home address? Post it on the Ferguson Forum saying you hate black people?
Asshat, what kind of threat are you?
Teenagers. ^^^
Sure glad it’s just idiocy on the right, would hate to think there would be idiocy on the left.
There’s idiocy on both sides, but posting a list of cherry-picked instances and pretending the left has a monopoly on douchebaggery is about as intellectually dishonest as… well, as one would expect from ALG.
Gee Smirks, thought that is what I was saying to SCBlueWoman.
“idiocy on both sides”
I would argue there is idiocy on “all” sides. Now we will be sure to include all the other wackos from all other possible angles.
If he’s an idiot then refute his facts… put up or shut or you’re the idiot…
Spoken like a true sheep.
Rush 2112 – that’s all we need to know. That’s where the two party system wants to take us.
Well, that was a totally clueless piece. Who’s guns have been taken away? What civil liberties have been lost (since the Patriot Act, at least)? What’s wrong with a state having educational standards for homeschooled children? How has your free speech by hampered? A Politician acting like an asshole is news to anyone from either party? Sure things are still crappy in SC, but that’s something you’d have to ask to the Republicans, who dominate policy. This is just more fear mongering, but as long as you suckers keep eating it up, they’ll keep serving.
I guess Obola, Bengahzi and ISIS coming up through Mexico turned out to be total duds. Maybe we should get back to scaring the morons with the “he’s taking my guns away” nonsense (Even though you take your guns into more places than ever) or “socialist, dictator, no more freedom” (cause I can’t even type this crazy drivel anymore since “instert bad pun here” became President). I’m sure the next doom is being created right now…
BENGHAZI!!!!!
What a bunch of shit. No one is taking your “money, property, privacy, speech, or guns,” chump.
No one’s taking his money or privacy?
lol
More inflammatory rhetoric from another of the tinfoil hat crowd. C’mon Sic, this is a well as you can do?
I’m conservative and even have a touch of libertarian, but that doesn’t mean that because I’m old and white that I have to be grumpy also. Think positive. Have a sense of humor.
Hey, Bill, why don’t you list all the politicians you call ‘far left’?
Avowed socialist Bernie Sanders isn’t even a dogmatic leftist.
However, you and the other right wing Koch based fascist Libertarians are a real threat to American representative democracy.
OMG, there is one under every rock! It must be a poor quality of life when one irrationally believes that everybody, including the government, is out to get you. Mr. Wilson, I would be willing to bet a lot that “the government” doesn’t know or care much about your opinions and your fears. Only you care that all these imagined forces are taking aim on your life. I feel quite the opposite: the stock market is soaring, I can take a gun in places never before possible, I can participate in discussion forums that didn’t even exist several years ago. I am making more money than I ever have, I have more choices than were ever available to me. I can freely travel and go wherever I want. In other words, today I can take advantage of more choices than I have ever had in my entire long life. And isn’t the very definition of Freedom the ability to make choices? I feel like my freedom has expanded. It’s difficult to understand why you, living in the same world, feel otherwise. I can only suggest that it is a prison into which you put yourself. I don’t choose to get in there with you.
Looks like Howard Rich has a new girlfriend. The author looks like he just swallowed his dentures.
Where does Bill stand on unchecked military spending and the rise of the police state? Surely the far left is responsible for those things too. And where was Bill’s righteous indignation when Bush was passing the PATRIOT act?
There is an ancient Tsalagi saying which goes,”To make your enemy your slave, give him what he needs. Then, too, he will steal what he wants from his brother, who will then kill him, saving you the trouble and the Great Spirit His time.”
