WINTHROP POLL: GOVERNOR ENTERS SECOND TERM ON SOLID FOOTING
By FITSNEWS || S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley – whose approval ratings were once languishing in the low thirties – received substantially better marks on the latest Winthrop University survey.
The soon-to-be second termer – who is baring her soul in India at the moment – scored a job approval rating of 53.3 percent on the survey (compared to 36.3 percent who disapprove). That’s Haley’s best-ever performance on this particular measurement – which her staff once mocked for its alleged lack of accuracy.
Looks like the scandal-scarred governor – who got 56 percent of the vote in a low-turnout election earlier this month – will begin her second term on pretty solid footing from a public approval standpoint.
Haley will also be in a much stronger position to influence the 2016 presidential primary in South Carolina …
By comparison, U.S. president Barack Obama‘s approval rating in South Carolina – a state he has yet to visit as president – stood at 40.6 percent (compared to 52.1 percent who disapprove). U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham scored a 49.5 percent approval rating with 38.9 percent disapproving of his job performance.
The most popular South Carolina politician? U.S. Sen Tim Scott – whose job approval rating according to the poll was 58.1 percent. Only 20.2 percent of respondents said they disapproved of the job Scott is doing – while 19 percent indicated they were “not sure” what to think of Scott (who has been a U.S. Senator for less than two years).
Winthrop surveyed 852 South Carolina residents using landlines and cell phones between November 9-16. Its latest poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

I’m waiting for all those Jonathan Grubers to post comments telling South Carolinians how stupid they are.
I think Fits wanted to be First Gentleman of South Carolina, and Haley would have none of it, hence his obsession.
First gentleman to what?
HAD to vote myself up on that one. Heh!
pussy
Still have Graham, still have Haley, still have so many self-serving assholes in the state legislature…
Does anything really need to be said?
Yes, you failed to include Clyburn.
Thank you Nikki for being the guiding light in SC. Your leadership has made SC a beacon of hope in an otherwise dark world.
You are a job creating machine and the unborn thank you for saving their lives from the EVIL Democrats and Planned Parenthood’s abortion butchers.
America stands with you!!!
LOL! America doesn’t stand with SC. They laugh at SC.
Trying hard to keep myself from violently retching over your comment at the moment. Proud of myself for having so much self con BLOOOORPPPPHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

So paying “obeisance” at Sikhism holiest shrine pays off at the polls — even for a Methodist. Maybe a theologically-inclined reader of FITSNews can tell me: Is it possible to be a Methodist and a Sikh simultaneously?
I can answer that. From the point of view of many churches in the often surprisingly tolerant Methodist denomination, the answer is YES. And apparently the Sikhs in India say YES as well.
Edited/expanded it a good bit since first posting. Didn’t want to continue it in several replies, because I do sometimes head complaints about such posting behavior on my part.
Yeah, well, Robertson et al say a lot of crazy stuff. Surprisingly, life goes on
Wow — quite a response. But I thought Methodists were Christians? Don’t Christians believe in the Ten Commandments? Isn’t that considered mandatory? What in “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” permits Sikhism? Don’t the Methodists embrace the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Seems incompatible with Sikhism’s “single Godhead.”
Within Christendom there is wide latitude in such matters. Whether fundamentalists, inerantists, etc., like it or not, denominations exist that are more liberal and more tolerant of other religions. Elizabeth Chapin Patterson, who headed the Meher Spiritual Center in Myrtle Beach — an ashram dedicated to Avatar Meher Baba of India (who followers believe to have been the equivalent of Jesus Christ) was a member of First Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach until her death.
In the United Church of Christ, as well as Unitarian Universalist and some “un-programmed” Society of Friends (Quaker) Churches, as well as Unity and Science of Mind Churches — all Christian — there is even the study of Eastern mystical traditions and these are sometimes incorporated into worship. Of all of those, only among Quakers is that truly a matter of debate within those denominations.
btw, the United Church of Christ churches in Canada many years ago issued a blanket apology to Native Americans for having taken their spiritual path from them and forced them into being Christians. Some would call that being PC. I call it being good Christians and taking responsibility for taking part in cultural and spiritual genocide.
I didn’t care for the foot-kissing thing ,for several reasons. The main one is the hypocrisy of it, after Nikki made such a show of converting to Christianity in order to pander to Christian votes in SC who are nowhere near as tolerant as the ones I have discussed in this response.
Beyond that, I hold to the original tennents of The Southern Baptist Convention, before the inerantists took over in the ’80s and purged all from their ranks who truly believed in and practiced them:
!) The Pariesthood of the Individual
2) The autonomy of the individual home church congregation, and
3) Having the courage of ones own convictions (which I interpret as not holding to those convictions imposed on one by denominational hierarchy.)
I hope this answers your questions.

Legend has been handed down for many generations of TBG’s family, that when the first Spanish missionaries tried to convert one of TBG’s ancestors [supposedly Chief Eagle “Rivers of Blood” Powhattan -an early opponent of immigration and diversity in the Americas], the church sent a bilingual missionary to explain Christianity to him.
When the missionary was done explaining, TBG’s ancestral chief asked, “Before you leave, let me ask you something. If we had never heard of Jesus and sin, would we have gone to Hell when we died?”
The missionary said, “Well, no, of course not. Not if you hadn’t heard.”
And the Chief asked pleadingly, “Then why did you tell us?”
TBG was once told that while a Buddhist could also be a Christian…a Christian could not also be a Buddhist.
TBG’s conclusion was that the religious aren’t the most logical folks in the world…
Obama has been elected 2x professing to be a Christian and is a Muslim. What is the big deal?
My question is, where does this worthless, disgusting, gutless, half-baked mutt, Muslim,
POS of a POTUS, hide his prayer-rug and because he must pay homage to his ALLAH,
at least on 5 occasions per day, this is the reason why he never accomplishes anything
worthwhile.
Haley on the other hand loves Jesus and accomplishes much in His name. Her policies speak for themselves.
“guest” and “guest2”? Come on, where’s your originality, Sandi?
He’s trying to find it, Smirks. Up Big T’s ass.
Mr.Martin,
Jim thought that was funny.
Very truly yours
You seem to be, in your obscure, insane way, threatening me with a lawsuit, pogo.
How cute!
The articles and photos of her at the SIKH Temple, in INDIA, kissing the feet of the Sikh Holy Man counters your statement!
where does this worthless, disgusting, gutless, half-baked mutt, Muslim,
POS of a POTUS, hide his prayer-rug
In the raincoat compartment of his golf bag.
Duh!
Meanwhile, how many BUMPS has T-Rav had lately?
> Bah-rump-bump! <
I thought you were referring to baby bump, another Randawa in SC. Eww!!!
A tip ‘o the hat to SC Republicans who’ve run this state into a ditch where no national politicians in either party much give a damn what happens around here anymore. To the GOP we’re taken for granted and to the Dems we’re a lost cause. The only excitement we have to look forward to for six more months is the GOP primary squabble, after which we’ll slide back into the undercurrent of not-even-tried-to-rans
Yes but you forgot about
BENGHAZI!
Is the bump an STD?
This shows exactly how ignorant of reported facts that SC residents are. Virtually every single one of Haley’s cabinet agencies has imploded, some twice, since she took office in 2011.
And, I bet not a single one of the 58% who approve of Tim Scott can report a single thing that he has done for SC or a vote he has taken.
I’m with ya but the fact of the matter is Queen Namrata is pure teflon.
Kinda sorta thing for Tim Scott who is a master of treading water while appearing to be moving upstream
Only thing I can say is give the Queen enough rope till she hangs herself and/or the house of cards she has built will eventually all come down and it could not happen to someone who deserves it more.
The Asain Indians started the whole “Karma” thing and the Queen damn well knows it
