GOOD NEWS FOR PALMETTO STATE BABIES …
By FITSNEWS || For once, it actually is a “great day in South Carolina.” If you’re a baby …
South Carolina’s infant mortality rate has declined from 9.5 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2005 to 6.9 in 2013, according to statistics provided by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC). That’s a new record low …
Meanwhile the black infant mortality rate has also dropped – from 12.5 per 1,000 live births in 2012 to 10 in 2013. That means for the first time ever, South Carolina’s “racial disparity in infant mortality rates” is below the national average.
Rather than tooting its own horn, SCDHEC praised its non-profit collaborations as being instrumental in helping reduce infant mortality rates.
“The good news is that we have strong partnerships with the SC March of Dimes, the Children’s Trust of South Carolina, and are active participants in the Birth Outcomes Initiative – all of which are working hard to reduce infant deaths,” SCDHEC’s Jamie Shuster wrote on the agency’s public health blog.
Good stuff … and yet another indication of the fiscally conscientious, outcome-based approach being pursued by director Catherine Templeton.
Since she’s doing such a good job keeping kids alive in South Carolina, maybe we should put Templeton in charge of their education, too?

How can that be WITHOUT the expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare and the federal $$$$’s? :-)
Thank God we have Nikki as governor!!!
Nikki did expand Medicaid, she just didn’t take the money.
Wow…Thanks for the info. A Republican served the poor w/ healthcare, w/o wasting any more tax money. That may be why liberals got their @$$#$ kicked on Nov. 4. Good job Nikki. You show that MONEY is not the problem. Smart leaders can do more w/ less.
I wonder if you add the number of abortions to that infant mortality rate, would there be a decline???…The Democrats have gotten much better at intoxicating the poor with their immorality campaigns.
Used to be the poor would develop character through hard times. The left has paid them them off, to where there is not the struggle associated w/ bad choices. It seems the victims of liberalism have sold their souls – and would be progeny – for a welfare check and food stamps.
Why do you think Obama has to import fertile, Catholic hand-out beggars from South of the Border to replace those he’s aborted?
Never thought of it that way. Templeton must be pro-abortion and why Fits is supporting her for governor to run against Sanford.
She is probably for gay marriage.
Excellent post. These idiots can’t figure out why we always seem to have the answers-easy-we think ‘outside’ the box of the conventional bullshit that the MSM and state controlled schools inflict on society. :-)
oops…for governor OR to run against Sanford in SC1.
So you’re saying that the left is running of out people because they are aborting them all?
hmmm
By that logic, since Obama (whom I’m not a fan) won convincingly in both 2008 and 2012 (and you say that anyone who doesn’t vote straight republican is on the left), that must mean that since republicans won convincingly this year, the left is also aborting those old enough to vote?
Voter fraud and illegals, w a black racist running for the Ds. On top of the fact timid Romney was the architect of Obamacare and a Mormon. 4 million conservative voters stayed home. McCain is a liberal-tarian like Ravenel.
Study and you would not look like an uneducated Dumb@$$.
In that case asshat try studying about voter fraud. 18 convictions in 30 years…oh the fraud..you asshat!
By your logic, the poor develop character through hard times – simply proves you were born to a wealthy family and were spoiled. Always figured as much.
Out of the park ..nailed it!!
Just as it has for years …
Tango is right. They are aborting them and infanticide.
He thinks it’s expanded education about how to better take care of babies, because the media tells him that.
But the people most like to be hit infant mortality are not the types to educate themselves about anything…except the quickest route to the Planned Parenthood clinic, and how to fill out a Medicaid Abortion-payment Form.
But if baby is born disabled he’s SOL. SC is the worst in the nation for serving disabled babies. First Steps got the lowest score in the US at 55 of 100 and is in a special “needs intervention” category. Instead of babies getting needed intervention, the Feds keep coming to SC to give First Steps Babynet special intervention costing millions of taxpayer $. It has been in rehab since taking Babynet away from DHEC. Bad day in SC for people born with disabilities, especially babies with problems.
First steps made it harder for kids to qualify for therapy.
I bet Czar Templeton rigged the numbers. Trikki Nikki selected Czar Templeton just like the former DSS witch.
