TIGERS’ QUARTERBACK COULD RETURN THIS SEASON

By FITSNEWS || Clemson University starting quarterback Deshaun Watson‘s knee injury is not as serious as initially feared – meaning the freshman phenom could return in time to play arch-rival South Carolina on November 29.

Initial reports indicated Watson tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the Tigers’ loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday, but on Sunday night Tigers’ head coach Dabo Swinney said Watson’s injury was not that serious.

According to Swinney, Watson suffered a bruised lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and a bone bruise when he fell awkwardly during a first quarter run against the Yellow Jackets.

Meanwhile offensive lineman David Beasley‘s injury – also feared to be serious – turned out to be a patellar tendon inflammation.

“We received some great news tonight,” Swinney said. “Both players are not seriously injured, something we feared Saturday. They are listed day-to-day and their status will be evaluated later this week.”

Watson has thrown for 1,203 yards and 12 touchdowns against only two interceptions – completed 67 percent of his passes in the process.  He’s also rushed for 187 yards and three additional scores.  The 6-foot-3, 190-pound freshman from Gainesville, Georgia missed a month earlier this season with a broken finger suffered against Louisville.

Clemson plays Georgia State at home on Saturday before welcoming arch-rival South Carolina to Death Valley on November 29. Clearly they will be in a much better position to end a five-game losing streak against the Gamecocks if Watson and Beasley are in the lineup.

This is such a joke. Vic Beasley? It was David Beasley an offensive lineman.

Glad he did not tear the ACL. As far as the season goes, it can only be classified as a disappointment, especially with the amount of money they are paying Morris.

I wonder how Hendrix feels about that $2.5 million the family just donated to the athletic department. And maybe a $350 annual student fee to come.

All that money and still a mediocre program.

How much $$ is being spent at USCe? A lot more…for similar results.

The conversation is not about USCe, nor am I.

He can’t help himself. Lil’ Norma always plays the butt hurt redneck. No one can say a bad thing about Pickens Tech on his watch. Poor Lil’ Norma. But have to say, he is pretty witty for a dude who wears orange overalls and thinks it’s a fashion statement.

Posting to you actually saying something about USC when nothing else said it 1st. I didnt need to say it first as its always on your mind. it is 100% true USC is in your head. the more you try to debate that the more you prove it. “a face in the crowd” brought you out on it. I was directly replying to that nothing else BUSTED!!! lol

Hey man..if this is what makes your day, I’m glad I can assist.

But if you can actually do any self reflection, sit down and think about it for a moment.

What am I saying…”self reflection” for a guy like you is making sure he isn’t out of Skoal or Budweiser, and that the TV is working for NASCAR.

Carolina alway on his mind November 17, 2014 at 2:03 pm

Aww, don’t talk about your kin like that man. jusyt keep on trolling along with USC in your head. I will quote what started all of this.

You out of the blue “How much $$ is being spent at USCe? A lot more…for similar results”

Hey they still might be able to bus them up to Charlotte for the Everybody Gets a Trophy Bowl.

Actually I saw it was Clemson projected to the Belk bowl in Charlotte. Careful you might be ragging on your own team.

Squishy123 November 17, 2014 at 2:39 pm

Does that mean USCe will be going to lovely Birmingham if they win out?

EDIT: CBS Sports is predicting Clemson vs. Oklahoma in the Russell Athletic Supporter Bowl in Orlando. USCe vs Texas in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

uh oh November 17, 2014 at 3:51 pm

A. a 3 (possibly 4) loss Clemson team wouldn’t make it to the Orange bowl behind a 2 loss Duke team, or a 2 regular season conference loss GT team that beat Clemson. Even if GT loses to UGA and the conference title Clemson is still ranked behind Duke

B. Birmingham wouldn’t want a rematch of a game already played this year.

I saw USC vs. Louisville in Jacksonville for the Taxslayer bowl and Clemson VS Tennessee in Charlotte in the Belk Bowl (if they beat either Mizzou or Vandy)

C. it changes week to week so what does it matter?

D. you said that Clemson is going to an underwear bowl? (Athletic Supporter). seems about right

a face in the crowd November 17, 2014 at 12:33 pm

I think CU is now projected to Charlotte for the Belk Bowl.

Bible Thumper November 16, 2014 at 10:54 pm

God, thanks for answering my prayer for Watson and Beasley not to have serious injuries. I have one more thing to ask. I know you don’t like being asked to do unethical things like fixing a lottery result or tamper with election results, but I’m just asking this once. Let Clemson beat South Carolina. Oh, end world hunger to.

Again. I’m trying to remember the last time. Nope, nothing registers. It must have been, what, 5 years ago. Dabo was in diapers. He probably needs to wear them again on the 29th.

Kinda like Obama, after he followed RonPaul and FITS’ head-bury policy in Iraq, is having to eat $#!t and admit the Ignore-Core is stupid, and deadly, while Bush was RIGHT….

It never ends. And as long as FITS bashes the GOP and excoriates Haley, his lustful little sycophants just slurp up the ignorance….any wonder you’re getting your @$$#$ kicked at the polls????

Just another kid Dabo is going to run into the ground. Try to beat Carolina bc without him, you have zero chance. No QB’s behind him after this year and jump ship to UF. Makes perfect sense.

Squishy123 November 17, 2014 at 9:27 am

Did Spurrier run Lattimore into the ground too? Forcing him to carry 40 times per game.

We played out back-up QB in 2012 against cu, when Shaw was hurt so taters just have to suck it up (And w/oLattimore). No excuses, you should be able to run the ball against our defense. Should be an interesting game, you never know how your team will perform each Saturday, it’s why you play the game on the field, not on urrrrrnge paper.

Watson will likely play in the game…or do you not remember Shaw having the same injury against TN (along with a MCL sprain Watson doesn’t have), to rally back the next game in the 4th qtr against Missou…oops, forgot that happened, huh?

3 injuries in 10 months November 17, 2014 at 7:09 pm

I guess we will wait and see. Shaw was a man and proved he was many times playing hurt. Watson is a kid who has been hurt 3 times in less than a year and hasn’t proven himself to be tough enough to play at this level for a full year, or even more than 3 weeks in a row yet. Forgot that huh??
