If you hurry, you can get to DMV and at least get yourself an ID card. If they don’t require full testing, you might get a DL. I don’t know how that works in Texas.

Why, I’m white and they wouldn’t take my voter id card? Said I needed to have a picture id. I gave them my DL and asked what should I do with the voter ID. The lady told me to frame it for all she cared. I squeezed off a nice smelly coffee fart and joined the line. Silence is golden.

I was voter #174 at 9 a.m. at Rosewood Elementary in Shandon. In and out in just a few minutes. Poll workers reported that there were no issues so far. There was one voting booth not working due to a low battery (??) but someone arrived to fix it while we were there.
There were a couple of machines out of order where I voted, some guy came in to work on one while I was there. The lady was saying how these are kept in storage for however long until they are needed again, so I’m guess these things don’t get regular maintenance? Figures.
I hate to say that I am not surprised. You would think they would have made some vast improvements since last time!

My precinct is predominately white and conservative, we were seriously disenfranchised in the 2012 election. Two machines (a total of 4) for two wards. Voter suppression at it’s finest in an attempt to pass the penny sales tax increase.

Easy in, easy out, friendly volunteers. One machine had a low battery signal come up while I was waiting. Was solved by plugging it in correctly to everyone’s great amusement. One woman volunteering there was there solely to give out “I voted” stickers. Thanks, I guess. Biggest topics of conversation I overheard in line were: why would T-Rav humiliate himself on a television show and gamecock games are great fun through three quarters. I voted to legalize the PTA and Booster club raffles. Didn’t realize I’d been such an outlaw for so long. Although I never won the golfcarts or lakehouse weekends.
I was voter 75 this morning at 8:00, then I was voter 263 at 10:23, and just got back from my third time, and I was voter 325 at 11:19. I was going in a fourth time. Other than that it was easy. There were a few good ole’ boys beating a black lady behind the library, but she seemed to be taking it pretty well. Also, guy told me that Boeing was promising employees if they could provide an iPhone photo showing they voted for Haley they’d get a $20 Starbucks card. Oh and I noticed some guys carrying shotguns and holding up a “Don’t Tread On Me” flag. Assuming they worked for a tire company.
The country is very interested in who will be the next US Senator from SC. If Tim wins he’ll be the first Black Senator elected from the deep bias South. Also if he wins, we will have five African-American Senators in the US Senate.
Also if Tim wins, the credit will go to the first woman Governor of SC because she handpicked him for the job. SC is an interesting state to follow; we are seeing some old Southern traditions being changed and history is still being made.

There was a big “Voters stop here” sign with a little old lady sitting at a table demanding to see/inspect your “ID.” Then she proceeds to say, “Keep it out, you will have to show it when you sign the roll and get your ballot.” Wow, I hope you Republicans are pleased with yourselves for trying to make the voting process difficult.

I admit I assume she was Republican because SC is one of Republican capitals of the US. Aside from that, I have no idea what her political persuasion is.
The point is that I had to show my ID, it was the proving my identity twice within seconds of proving it the first time that made me angry…not angry enough to walk out without voting though :)
