Holy cow- I just looked up the unofficial results… French tied the guy who dropped out (at 1%), which was only a half percentage point or so ahead of that crazy-ass Morgan Reeves. The grownups win again…

This, versus playing the game and working within the party system (which is where the winners are in the VAST majority of cases).

I feel bad, already, I voted for her four years ago. I railed against Sheheen because I didn’t want him to be Governor because his family has a history of keeping a strangle hold on politics wherever they are in power. Right now, I really wish he had won four years ago.

That does not mean she is not a typical 21st century politician. There are scads just like her in the legislatures/county/city councils/US House/US Senate. It’s just that not all are like that. Some demonstrate that they love their state/county/city and care about the people. It just doesn’t seem like it’s most of them.
I think Bob Sheheen was a really decent, in all the meanings of the word, Speaker of the SC House. I liked him at the time. He looks really, really good compared to what came after him.
