ONE OF THE FEW GOOD VOTES WE’VE GOT IN WASHINGTON …

By FITSNEWS  ||  In contrast to our endorsement of a deceased candidate in South Carolina’s “other” U.S. Senate race, we’re pleased to endorse the living, breathing U.S. Sen. Tim Scott in his race for the world’s (cough) greatest deliberative body.

Scott – appointed to his post by Gov. Nikki Haley in December 2012 – is running to fill the remaining two years on the term of former U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint.  Assuming he wins (which is a safe assumption given the insurmountable lead he has in the polls), Scott has committed to seeking a full six-year term in 2016.

After that?  It’s not clear … some say Scott, a devout Christian, plans to give up politics altogether and enter the ministry.  Others say the 49-year-old businessman is interested in running for governor at some point.

Either way, good for him …

Our focus isn’t on Scott’s future plans, though.  Nor is it on his race (for those of you keeping score he’s South Carolina’s first black U.S. Senator and the first black Senator from the South in 133 years).  Our focus is on Scott’s voting record as a federal lawmaker – which stands in stark contrast to the record of liberal “Republican” Lindsey Graham.

As a member of the U.S. House from 2011-2013 and a member of the Senate for the past two years, Scott has been a consistent vote on behalf of freedom and free markets – part of the emerging fiscally conservative wing of the U.S. Senate (along with Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and others).

And while he hasn’t been as outspoken as Cruz or Paul (no high-profile filibusters for him), with a few notable exceptions he has voted the right way.

Which again, is what matters.

Sure, we don’t appreciate Scott’s decision to cave on key votes related to aircraft manufacturer Boeing … nor do we approve of his fawning over Israel (and broader “neoconservative” leanings) … but more often than not when the rubber meets the road in Washington, D.C. Scott votes in the best interests of your bottom line.

While other “Republicans” like Graham fold …

We appreciate that … and so should you.  And so should your children and grandchildren – a.k.a. the ones who ultimately must clean up the mess our government is making of this country.

Like we said Scott isn’t perfect … and we will continue to call him out when we think he’s in the wrong … but unlike Lindsey Graham he has a consistent record of taxpayer protection that deserves to be rewarded.

Please FITS, don’t slime this man by endorsing him.

And have you forgotten that you have questioned his sexuality? That is a about as FILTHY low as you can go…but you’ve done it…so save your Bull-$#!t face-saving attempt. We don’t buy it.

Maybe you should go write an article of your opinion of Fit’s opinion.

I’m sure it will be as an attractive and important read (misspellings and grammar aside) that the rest of your “blog” provides.

The one or two times I’ve been over there he can’t help but mention FITS in some butthurt fashion on half of his posts, usually calling it a gossip site or whatever insult he feels like hurling. It’s actually quite funny, in a sad sort of way anyways.

Maybe we should lobby Will to be the bigger man in this battle and let GT have a guest column presence on here. He can babble on about Liberal tarians and like stuff and not have to be plugging his blog with every post. Will could pay him $10 a week and he would have GT as an ally, GT would be making 4X what he does at his own blog and it would be a win-win situation for both.

Could it be any worse than full length articles on “Blo Spas”?

You mean the “I’ve sorted clothes, cut chicken” Tim Scott? You know, the condescending ad that he runs saying that he has connected with everyday people by putting in a few hours at some minimum wage job? What BS – he’s almost as bad as the Governess when she put on that dog and pony show deciding whop she was going to pick to replace the quitter DeMint. They can all kiss my ass.

Tim Scott must be doing something right when the black caucus shuns the only black Senator because he doesn’t tow the liberal black line.

Reply
Uncle Tom October 30, 2014 at 2:32 pm

No. He isn’t. He just better remember to stay in line. Or he’ll back with the other black folks. Assuming they accept him after the fact… And the black caucus did invite him, he declined.

Excellent point about Scott and the black caucus. Also important to note that Allen West did in fact join the caucus.

So far, Mr Scott seems to be doing a fine job in office. As long as he does, I hope he will stay. If he starts to waver, then please let him find a job as a minister or other occupation. For now, he definitely has my vote.

I gotta think MR C. I’ve been to a black church, ” the best in Columbia ” and the service was about : Not God, but politics. I had to leave. A church as a political front does not sit well with me.

Reply
CorruptionInColumbia October 30, 2014 at 2:37 pm

I concur wholly with your last sentence. For a multitude of reasons, I don’t attend church, therefore if his intent and integrity begin to slip, I would prefer that he enter another occupation and minister would suit me just fine as it will not affect me. I thought DeMint was good at one time but wish I had voted for Alvin Greene as I had started to do, not that it would have made any difference, when DeMint went “quitter” and pulled a Palin on the voters. For the time being, I think we are better off for him having left and for having Mr Scott in his place.

These ” so called churches ” should not be tax exempt. They preach politics. They are a political meeting in every respect.

Do they add money to the plate or take money from the plate? I imagine it’s a little of both.

Tazmaniac October 31, 2014 at 8:19 pm

I have never been to a service that passed the plate/purple bag (no, not a Crown Royal one) less than three times. Once, the Bishop declared that God kept telling him to pass again to the tune of six times. To be fair the service was almost five hours long.

Tim Scott reminds of the black boy who used to get picked on in school by the other black kids, and decided to exact revenge now that he is in some sort of power. Haley too. I remember a story from Bamberg when she tried to run for homecoming queen and the folks were lie “FUCK THAT, and these were mostly white folks, now they love her.Go figure…

Senator Scott supported Senators Cruz and Lee in their last ditch, highly criticized effort to defund Obama care. Senator Graham did not. If and when the R’s get control of the Senate, wait and see if ObamaCare will be repealed (hint: it won’t.) No Government ever voluntarily relinquishes power – not big D, not big R – no matter how bad the underlying law. It is amazing that the only AA Senator is from a state that the rest of America thinks is racist. FU, NY, Cal, Mass, Ohio, Ill. Vote for Time Scott.

Good endorsement, FITSnews…I bet the race is an easy win for Tim Scott. Although, I did not like one bit Tim Scott’s victory rally appearance to support and “vouch” for Stephen Goldfinch who is under federal criminal charges. That was a disappointing decision to all of us who know Tim Scott so very well. Totally unexpected and out of character. I hope he can put that lapse of judgement behind him and be more prudent next time and respect the stature of the Senator’s office. We all wholeheartedly look forward to his term in office. A feel good American story, the rise of Tim Scott.

I can see him as a minister telling a needy family coming to him for help with daily necessities that no, he does not believe in handouts, that they have to work and pull themselves up by their bootstraps and by believing in Sweet Jeebus. Wonder if as a minister he would help parents pay for their child’s gummed up bad teeth like he himself endured for years?
