Benedict has one thing over Allen though: at least you have to take a college entrance exam (SAT, ACT, etc) to get into Benedict. Allen will take anyone….and I mean ANYONE.
However many points come with the ability to write one’s name. That, or the ability to play the real-life version of the game “Frogger” on Taylor Street while looking at white drivers with that “I dare you to hit me, cracka!”
Was forced to venture onto that campus last spring when my son played in an AAU basketball tournament there. Broken glass, trash, piles of dirt, half finished construction zones… about what I expected, but embarrassing none the less.
Got no idea. I assume some token whites for the most part. But, I know a lot of black that claim native american heritage, so you’ve probably got some of those that claim grater than 50% lineage tossed in there.

For the record, Benedict is 99% black. The quarterback and kicker on the football team are both white.

“The quarterback and kicker on the football team are both white.”
What an interesting irony, especially with the QB. All sorts of underlying themes of racial discord can be sewn with that fact.

They must be desperate to play football. No good can come of it.

You just know that as the Common Core is fully implemented 2014-15, one must expect HBCU’s adjusting their curriculum to accommodate fully indoctrinated common core high school graduates. Same applies for major universities. How can universities not adjust to common core standards when common core freshman begin enrolling? Will our major universities be dumbed down to common core levels?
Easy! 1) Pay attention to the smarter students = those who learn math by learning math and 2) Pay attention to the smarter students = those who learn English by learning English … What do smarter students want? Not the bureaucracy driven agenda? Learning, education?
I find that shocking, from the college that guarantees you a “C” in a course based on attendance alone. Next we’ll hear that they allow their students to take no-show courses like at UNC.
Yep. After he sent a bunch of City money to them for that stadium, they gave him a job as Dean of Students when things started getting too hot for him as City Mis-Manager…..
Does it bother anyone else that the local media builds Benedict up to be equals with Clemson and South Carolina? Its silly that Benedict gets so much air time. It wouldn’t bug me so much if they gave the other small schools like PC, Newberry, Wolford, and Furman equal time.

“BENEDICT COLLEGE GETS POOR MARKS”
Stunning headline.

I wonder what the admission cut off score is on those tests?

It’s a headline most of the students can read.
Is anybody surprised?

“… Other reasons? Like … South Carolina’s chronically disastrous yet increasingly expensive government-run K-12 monopoly? …”
And now comes the fed common core programs = even more dumbing down.
Based on the number of out of state students, you may have to look beyond our poor public schools
I suppose it makes be racist to point out that Benedict has a student population that is 98.7% black.
Oh well.
*makes me
What’s the other 1.3%?

It worst lists are populated by a mainly for-profit (libertarian structured) institutions.
Yes. The free market clearly is the best way to provide an education.

…… or uSC…..
or clempson
That’s USC-e to you mister.
Isn’t former Chief of Police Charles Austin running this place?

I’m surprised that Benedict is not totally bankrupt by now, the way the City of Columbia was by the time he finally left it.
We probably should do away with collegiate licensing and let the free market do its thing.

They only cover their sports teams. They never have any story on their academic record – good or bad.
If you can’t see the entire link above, Google “Dr. Antonio L. Ellis, How Benedict College Helped Me”.
@FITS – this is not news except for those who just landed here from Mars.
