IT’S IN THEIR PLATFORM …
By FITSNEWS || Just in time for the “First in the South” presidential primary election, the South Carolina “Republican” Party is refusing to comment on some virulent anti-gay comments made by one of its congressional candidates.
Anthony Culler – who is running against U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn for the Palmetto State’s sixth congressional district – made national news this week by referring to gay couples in his state as “Gremlins.” And yes, Culler made sure to point out he was referring to the scaly, reptilian monsters – not the cute, cuddly Gremlins.
“Same-sex couples that seek to destroy our way of life and the institution of marriage are NOT cute and cuddly but rather (for those of you that are old enough to remember the movie), Gremlins that will only destroy our way of life,” Culler wrote on his Facebook page.
He then went on to describe same sex couples as “bullies,” a “pestilence” and a “scourge on society.”
“Look away from this scourge on society and condemn it,” Culler wrote. “Starve it out and actively stand against this movement and those pushing it. Seek the dismissal of all those in the judiciary and legislature that support and seek to legalize same-sex ‘marriage.’ Stand against this and we will reverse it and drive it back into the darkness.”
Yeah … that’s pretty tough talk.
As we’ve noted on numerous previous occasions, this website supports gay rights … including the right to marry. Of course we also support the right of individual churches not to marry gay couples. We believe government has no role whatsoever in sanctioning or banning marriage – gay or straight. That must be left up to individual churches – with accountability from their congregants, their denominations and (ultimately) their God.
Anyway … you’d think the party of individual liberty and less government (well, the party that claims to support individual liberty and less government) would be hip to such a view.
They aren’t …
Here’s an excerpt from the most recent version of the S.C. “Republican” Party platform …
The South Carolina Republican Party considers the sacred institution of marriage as fundamental to the stability, betterment and perpetuation of our society. Many economic, emotional, and physical ills in our culture could be avoided if abstinence before and faithfulness in marriage were the standard of behavior. “Because our children’s future is best preserved within the traditional understanding of marriage, we call for a federal constitutional amendment that fully protects marriage as a union of a man and woman, so that judges cannot make other arrangements equivalent to it”(2008 Republican National Platform p. 53). We affirm that the same creator who endowed men with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, also established marriage consisting of one man and one woman, that marriage so constituted is morally right, that any deviation from this is morally wrong. We reject the notion that marriage may legitimately be redefined based upon cultural preferences.
While that’s obviously not quite as vitriolic as Culler’s remarks, it’s basically the same position … especially the line about gay marriage being “morally wrong.” Agree or disagree with that statement, since when did it become government’s job to legislate morality?
Also worth reading? The relevant passage on gay marriage taken from the most recently adopted national “Republican” platform …
The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation. It has been proven by both experience and endless social science studies that traditional marriage is best for children. Children raised in intact married families are more likely to attend college, are physically and emotionally healthier, are less likely to use drugs or alcohol, engage in crime, or get pregnant outside of marriage. The success of marriage directly impacts the economic well-being of individuals. Furthermore, the future of marriage affects freedom. The lack of family formation not only leads to more government costs, but also to more government control over the lives of its citizens in all aspects. We recognize and honor the courageous efforts of those who bear the many burdens of parenting alone, even as we believe that marriage, the union of one man and one woman must be upheld as the national standard, a goal to stand for, encourage, and promote through laws governing marriage. We embrace the principle that all Americans should be treated with respect and dignity.
Hmmm …
Well “respect and dignity” is something, we suppose.

I thought FITS was for free speech and against political special interests getting extra privileges. …It’s like FITS is so F*#king stupid, the Democrats made him look like a Nazi, Idiot again.
Every homosexual I know is an ultra liberal. What they try to do is silence you – or control your speech – based on their homosexuality. The Gay lobby claims that you cannot voice an opinion against them, because they are protected under Democrat edict.
But it’s really just a Democrat Dirty Trick, like so many, to have a one-sided voice for a liberal special interest group…FITS, you are an anti-American, anti-freedom DOLT… (:
I don’t even bother reading your posts anymore. Just an automatic down vote.
SCPD has an article on that.
I understand: Why spoil your ignorance?
Down vote.
What’d you say?
I don’t hold grudges. Would you like me to blow you one night this week? I swallow.
Don’t worry, he doesn’t read them either.
Well, hate to burst your bubble; but I’ve known Christian gay conservatives. What a concept!
You can’t even get a “like” for any of the brain farts you try to pass off as opinion.
You BUSTED me. I LIVE to get likes from a gaggle of the most delusional, wrong, ignorant and hateful people – like you – in this state.
You hit me where it hurts. Not being accepted as bright by such as you is hard to take. How will I go forward…Hahahaha…..LMAO…. (; ….
The only thing that separates Dems from Republicans are the issues they focus their hate on.
Hate drives politics much more than anything positive or logical.
Great Point: : Republicans hate injustice, bigotry, dictators, liars, corruption, evil and bondage.
You Liberal-Tarians and Democrats hate Truth; justice, America; character, God, and freedom.
You forgot “apple pie”. We hate apple pie too, and Normal Rockwell paintings.
Of course, I’m only speaking on the behalf of certain Liberal-Tarians. Don’t really know what the Dems or Republicans want to add to your list. You are taking orders, right?
Just admit you got B!*ch slapped, dumb@$$… and quit trying to play it off. You look like a D@*n fool trying.
You’re right, a bitch just slapped me.
GrandTango is a classic case of what happens when you OD on haterade.
Yeah, you can’t bitch slap someone, if you’re incapable of spelling out a naughty word. Move you’re computer to where your Mom can’t see the screen, you fucking, unemployed, gov’t checking getting, dick sucking, illiterate shit for brains, fat fucking bitch.
SC-youre kind of retarded-did you read the article? GOP hates gays-that means theyre bigoted nasty deceitful liars…feel dumb now huh?
I ALWAYS P!$$ off the simple-minded who believe the myths fed to them by the media, Democrats and FITS.
You’re not used to being defined for what you are…And you’re such an easy mark.
PS: Bully Special Needs Children Much?
Why do people like you love to put people in little boxes with labels and attributes?
LMAO…You’re not that stupid are you? You’re a Democrat, and the epitome of irony, evidently…Hahahahaha…
Actually, I do not put myself in a box and instead tend to think outside of it. Nothing is black and white when it comes to politics/political parties.
So you voted for Haley and will vote for her again? Are you voting for Tim Scott?
Did you vote for Bush, Romney and McCain? I’ll tell you, if you tell me…
No. I’ve never voted Republican because I’ve always felt that the Democrat was better. Isn’t that they way you’re supposed to vote? For the person you think will do the best job? I wish the Libertarian party had more of a following.
Karolyn said: “I do not put myself in a box and instead tend to think outside of it.”….. (: …Nothing is black and white when it comes to politics/political parties”….
Only a Democrat voter…only a Democrat… (:
PS: You do realize (I’m not betting on it) that other post you responded to, is one of your fellow Democrats using deceit, which is in line w/ you party tactics?)
I would vote for a Republican if any was worth voting for. As I said, Libertarian is even better but unfortunately it’s the old “throwing your vote away” thing.
If you’re not betting on it, then you’re not sure; so why even say anything? You are weird.
No, obviously, that person is a pervert who supports nothing but his own sick mind.
But since you asked, I do it because it makes my little d$ck get hard when nothing else will do.
You’re just a sick, rude, repulsive human being(?) and certainly do give Republicans a bad name.
Well, Karolyn, you’ve gone to the trouble of getting a Disqus account, yet you are not hip enuf to hover your cursor over the avatar to see that the poster you are responding to is not Notorious SCPD, but an impostor who was dumb enuf to get a Disqus account that rats him out as an impostor.
They why do Republicans hate gay people. I just don’t understand your logic some times. Oh, I get it, there is none.
Dems dont hate people though so your point is moot…
Except for Tea Partiers. And Conservatives. And Libertarians. And anyone who listens to Rush. And everyone at Fox News. And…
But they’re so, so hate-able.
There’s big money to be made bashing gays in South Carolina. Can’t cut off that funding stream. Otherwise there might be a Will Folks/T-Rav level dust-up.
Who do you think raises more money off the aggressive Gay movement, you insufferable Dumb@$$….Liberals or Conservatives?
In Democrat politics: black must hate white; woman must hate man; taker must hate producer; young must hate old; failed must hate successful, homosexual must hate straight…and so on. If you did not have hate…you’d have nothing.
Why do you think Obama’s own people are walking out on him?…They have figured out you HAVE nothing but contempt for the people paying your bills. And they are also tired of being without, because your have taken the wagon-pullers out of the economy, with your stupidity and ignorance.
Your thinking is seriously skewed.
And GrandTango still can’t find a way to cash in. Still no followers on the “blog”?
In Republican world, there are only two demographics…scared old white men and the 1% who own all the money.
Why do you hate alternative lifestyle people. There’s been many a smart and strong conservative gay who gets left behind by the Gay Oppression Party – look at Gillespie in VA – not a single GOP person helping his gay ass out. What about Pete Williams – was Cheney’s Press Secretary at the Pentagon in the first Gulf War – forced out because he gay. Countless staffers in the Bush White House were gay – they were all forced to quit. What is it about Republicans that they hate smart, well educated people who just happen to live a different lifestyle. Is that what you are – brown-shirted thugs who think every has to be jsut like you – white dumb and happy?
Down vote.
Yeah. They just love to feed the monster and say what they believe will inflame their followers.
Why bother, Culler is the “Steve French” of the sixth district, no chance to win, very little support, very little money. He’s infinitely forgettable and wouldn’t win in a republican district.
FITS is just pure hate, looking for a Republican. It has nothing to do with the Racist 6th, w/ a fool and buffoon Democrat stealing our leadership based on skin color.
Col. you HAVE TO BE smarter than that…don’t you?
He’s just not bright, check this photo: https://www.facebook.com/AnthonyCullercom/photos/a.404764122934244.93249.391803857563604/698962840181036/?type=1&theater
He can’t be the “Steve French”: his wife is nowhere near that hot.
I’d have called him the “Hutto of the Sixth” but he doesn’t have that much support…
I know Tony Culler and his family personally. Some of the wierdest people I’ve ever met. And that’s saying something. I’d like to see someone beat Clyburn, but it ain’t gonna be that nutjob.
You ALWAYS find a way – no matter how contorted – and based on your “inside” knowledge – to suck off the Democrat. You and FITS kneel together in that regard…
PS: You claimed to know Chris “I hate Crackers Barrel- hates Chris” Rock’s mom…
For someone who HATES everybody with any power, you sure kiss a lot of @$$…of the leftwing rich and famous…so typical of a Dumb@$$ conspiracy secret agent, informant…LMAO…
Idiot. Nobody on here has criticized Clyburn more than I have. He’s a crook, and a well-known crook. As for Culler, you can’t live in Murrells Inlet without knowing him. Just until a little while ago he and his wife were both friends on Facebook. I took care of that.
As for Rose Rock, I have never met her. The only one of the family I know is her youngest son, Jordan, who I know through the comedy club circuit down here.
As usual, you got it ALL wrong.
So now the story changes…LMAO…
No it doesn’t. I know many people in the beach music community who know Rose Rock very well, as she sits on the board of the Beach Music Preservation Society, personally knows a great many of the old classic R&B, Soul and “beach” acts, and is involved in concerts, etc. A very civicly involved person, in two counties. That is something apart from her dust-up at the Cracker Barrel, which was unfortunate, and basically a misunderstanding. The way I “know” her is the way thousands of people around here do — through mutual friends. And that’s all I ever said. Stop trying to warp it around to score a political point.
Oh, no, wait … that’s all you ever do, isn’t it?
Carry on.
Boz said: As for Rose Rock, I have never met her. The only one of the family I know is her youngest son, Jordan…
Then Boz said: The way I “know” her…
Boz trippin’….
LMAO…You are a True FITS, John (for it, before I was against it”) Kerry disciple. Hahahaha…
I can dig it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBfoXk34oQ8
Boz lives with his mom and wears dresses, high heels and lipstick.
A weirdo. He doesn’t wear dreadlocks like the UVA “gentle giant” however terrorizes his own community with his own style of bizzaro stalking, threats and gustapo tactics of intimidation against those he disagrees with.
Ignore him.He shows up when Fits posts about perverted lifestyles or child molestation.LIke Smirks.
I live in that district. It appears he prints out his own signs, too.
The guy sounds like he also is missing a chromosome or two.
I live in that district.
Sincere condolences.
(TBG does, also.)
I’d like to see someone beat Clyburn…
Let’s draft Clyburn to run against Miss Lindsey.
A loving, committed relationship raises the best, most well-rounded children, whether it’s gay or straight. Take a look around at all the messed up kids coming out of hetero marriages.
Take a look around at all the messed up kids coming out of hetero marriages.
Come to think of it, the percentage of messed up kids produced by homosexual unions is zero.
You may be on to something.
” We believe government has no role whatsoever in sanctioning or banning marriage”
That’s dumb.
Too dumb to know that marriage is just another, primarily property, contract between 2 people.
That’s the rub though, gov’t isn’t very good at administering let alone enforcing contracts.
It’s be better if everything just did their own thing. That’s what Unitarian churches are for.
This was a fun day to start off. I was in 5 Points checking out the packages on all the young college boys. That put me in a good mood and now you d%mn liberal tarians have f%cked that up for me.
Don’t blame us because you can’t get laid.Your ass is like a sewage pond.
Silly me, I thought we were all (supposed to be) equal under the law. Unless you get a marriage license from the State, your marriage is not “legal”, meaning that marriage is “state sanctioned”, regardless of what the religious right says…as such, it is illegal to deny marriage licenses to gay couples under anti-discrimination laws and our Constitution. The party platform is at odds with the Constitution which should worry anyone who considers themselves a Republican.
Now, if everyone wants to get married without the State license, I’m fine with that. You would not get the “benefits” of marriage from the State, though. I would also be in favor of removing any special rights that married people currently have, like survivorship, insurance benefits and tax breaks.
BTW, I’ve always been a Republican. I don’t agree with them in this case.
…it is illegal to deny marriage licenses to gay couples under anti-discrimination laws and our Constitution.
Horsefeathers and poppycock!
“We affirm that the same creator who endowed men with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, also established marriage consisting of one man and one woman…”
Since they appear to say that only men have inalienable rights and women have value only as part of a marriage, that partisan ideology must explain why Antonin Scalia has flat out said that women have no rights in the Constitution. Of course, Scalia is Opus Dei and tends to let him religion influence his rulings…real bad.
“Same-sex couples that seek to destroy our way of life and the institution of marriage are NOT cute and cuddly ”
He’s got that part right. Most of the gays I know are big and hairy

Everybody abandon Fitsnews … never come, He is a pro Gremlin …. lol
What’s the real surprise here? The GOP in this state only parrots back positions that the voters want them to espouse and support so they can get elected.
Ipso facto, one can only make the logical conclusion that the majority of people in this state are bigots as the GOP keeps getting voted in left, right and center.
The GOP in this state only parrots back positions that the voters want them to espouse and support so they can get elected.
The horror!!!!
This is why the younger generation is looking away from the Republican Party. I urge the GOP to gently set the religious zealots to the curb and start anew. Hey maybe they can claim the “Stockholm Syndrome”! It is the only chance for a real two party system again.
““Same-sex couples that seek to destroy our way of life” – your way of life is threatened by queers. What are you – a moron? Grow it @$$hole, it’s the 21st century. Yeah, that’s the sign of a real consensus builder. Let’s attack queers, Mexicans and unmarried women. And some African Americans maybe too – and sick people in Africa. What does he do for a living, walk around kicking sick kids in the head? What a jerk. Ah, the Party of exclusion and intolerance.
Rocky, you Democrats need to be more tolerant. You’ll would probably kick Culler out if he was a Democrat. ;-P
Well Thumper – when the Rotary Republicans (I’m a Rotarian – so I can speak) stand up against the hate mongering Republicans – I’ll share your sentiment. But as of right now – I don’t see any.
We Republicans are too tolerant to do anything like that.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/04/22/science-say-gop-voters-better-informed-open-minded/
http://www.examiner.com/article/new-study-democrats-are-uninformed-intolerant-and-hypocritical
Thumper – then you are one a of a few.
Perhaps even one, because nothing he has said is descriptive of any Republicans leadership I know. And yes there are quite a few. The SC Republican Party leadership would be far closer to Culler than to Thumper.
These Republicans are just like the townspeople who stared from their windows as the fiery cross was hoisted high and the mob ran after the black man accused of some crime……..no these citizens were not the ones holding the noose but they were just as guilty for doing nothing, peering from their windows watching the spectacle unfold.
still waitin for an AME church to come out and have a gay weddin’ in the 6th district… ACCEPTANCE.DNE.APPROVAL
Whoa folks, one thing at a time. We’ll have to teach Republicans to read and be sure they comprehend what they are reading. I know some of them scan the “State Newspaper”. But shouldn’t they get their information from other sources?
