THIS WILL HELP (NOT) …
By FITSNEWS || U.S. president Barack Obama has tapped a former vice presidential staffer with no medical or health care experience to lead America’s response to the deadly Ebola virus.
Which is exactly off to the best start …
Ron Klain – vice president Joe Biden‘s former chief of staff – will manage the White House’s response to Ebola domestically and in West Africa.
Wait … what? What are we doing in West Africa?
Good question … Obama keeps sending American troops directly in the path of this rapidly spreading disease (500 U.S. troops are in Liberia already, more are en route). These soldiers have been tasked with building a new hospital and other Ebola treatment facilities.
Crazy, huh?
Like we said after the botched initial response to the first U.S. case of Ebola … it’s like they want this thing to spread.
Critics pounced on Obama’s decision.
“Is he serious?” U.S. Rep. Andy Harris tweeted, referring to Klain as a “government bureaucrat.”
When the first U.S. case of Ebola turned up in Dallas, Texas, U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) director Dr. Thomas Frieden sounded a defiant tone.
“There is no doubt in my mind … we will stop it here,” he said. “We are stopping it in its tracks in this country.”
That didn’t happen, though …
Instead, 29-year-old Amber Vinson – one of the Texas nurses who treated the first U.S. Ebola patient (and who has since contracted the disease herself) – not only wasn’t quarantined, she actually took a pair of commercial airline flights after working with the infected patient. In fact she took one of those flights after she began showing symptoms.
FITS has been following the Ebola saga at the national level closely … as has everyone else, apparently.
We’ve also been following efforts by S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control director Catherine Templeton to prepare for the disease in our home state of South Carolina –HERE and HERE.
First discovered in 1976, Ebola is a virological taxin that is spread through bodily fluids. Its current outbreak – which began in December 2013 in West Africa – has killed 4,500 people and infected 9,000.
After an incubation period ranging from two days to three weeks, Ebola victims begin experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea – at which point they are contagious. Eventually their kidneys and livers begin to shut down, a process accompanied by mass internal hemorrhaging. There is no treatment and no cure for the virus. Also, Ebola has a fifty percent mortality rate – meaning one out of every two people who contract the disease die from it.
So yeah … let’s send our soldiers right in the thick of it and hope for the best, right?

Well at least Jimmy Carter can take comfort in this Presidency. Rosalyn, Rosalyn! Guess who is NOT the worst President in modern history?
As someone who voted for Obama (twice!), I’m inclined to reluctantly agree.
You and I probably disagree on most things politically, but I would wager we both woud rather have had the first Black President be a REAL success, with bi-partisan support from the people because he brought all Americans together. The color of his skin wasn’t his failure, his divisiveness is the source of that, but the haters are going to boil it down to just his race.
You Lie!
Absolutely! It would have been clarifying, edifying, invigorating even illuminating to have had any democrat president do well … That is what so many of us hoped for and prayed for.
(I agree that the color of his skin has and had nothing to do with his failures or his successes [I’ll think of one in a minute]. I believe that his subsidized Harvard “education” and “progressive” indoctrination has had much more to do with his failures.)
Republicans bent over backwards to help him.
I can’t really speak to that. Some did, some did not.
You see, I’m in business to make a profit. It does my business no real good to have a failed presidency, no matter who is at the helm.
(“I would not join a club that would have me as a member …” – Groucho & WC)
If the first black president had been Condi Rice or Herman Cain the feelings would have been quite different. Obummer + his communist leanings have ruined what could have been a great accomplishment.
Kind of like Haley the first female/Indian Governor, the worse Governor in the history of SC!
“If the first black president had been Condi Rice or Herman Cain . . .”
Neither stood or stands a chance. Condi Rice is lucky she is not sitting in prison.
Amen!!!!!
“The color of his skin wasn’t his failure, his divisiveness is the source of that, but the haters are going to boil it down to just his race.”
Horse shit! I have never in my lifetime seen a sitting President treated the way President Obama has been treated – before he even took office. Pure horse shit!
I have never in my lifetime seen a sitting President treated the way President Obama has been treated – before he even took office.
Correct.
The media has truly covered for him.
Probably similar to FDR…but that was before TBG’s time.
“The media has truly covered for him.”
Covered for him? Which media?
Have you so quickly forgotten how George W Bush was treated? Obama has been treated with love and affection by the media where Bush was gouged daily.
Twice?!?! Are you fucking serious? You’re probably one of those knobs with the “Cunt wait for Hitlary” stickers on your Prius, aren’t ya?
Hey, ease up on the guy a little…at least he admitted it…that means there’s hope.
The two party paradigm has bamboozled a lot of people…let’s not hammer them for waking up.
Agreed! If someone is waking up and seeing the light, they don’t deserve to be hammered. We’ve all done stupid things. I voted for “W” both times because I genuinely feared the opposition more than I feared him, though I didn’t feel good about voting for him. If I knew then what I know now in retrospect, I would have voted for the Libertarians (or other third-party candidate), not that it would have made one iota of difference.
In case you have forgotten, the majority of voters in 2008 and 2012 voted for Obama. Many people voted for him twice. Get over yourself.
And no, I do not drive a Prius and I have no idea who I will vote for in 2016. Any suggestions?
“As someone who voted for Obama (twice!), I’m inclined to reluctantly agree”
I voted for President Obama twice as well – and am certainly disappointed on many levels – the primary one being the fact that he did not follow through on so many of his promises and strayed too far to the right.
With that said, there is no way in hell I would classify him as the “worst President in modern history” – does not come close – and neither does President Carter.
With that said, there is no way in hell I would classify him as the “worst President in modern history” – does not come close – and neither does President Carter.
The BIG Three for damage done would be FDR, Woodrow Wilson and LBJ. TBG would then put Obama and “W” in a virtual tie. Next would be Hoover and Carter…both of whom were somewhat victims of timing and circumstances beyond their control.
The best would be Harding, Clinton (both, despite staggering corruption); Reagan and Ike. Ford was better than he gets credit for. Nixon could rank high on either list. JFK was probably a net positive. GHWB was pretty competent but screwed up in Iraq and the whole “Read my lips…” thing.
“TBG would then put Obama and “W” in a virtual tie”
I don’t see it. I really don’t.
I think Dubya solved that problem for him.
He’s a close third.
nope. Dubya was higher rated among DEMOCRATS than Dem Carter!
” Rosalyn, Rosalyn! ”
She spells her name with two N’s – Rosalynn.
Jimmune spells his with a l and o and s and e and an r…
“Jimmune spells his with a l and o and s and e and an r…”
Now, Colonel – I was just making a point and correcting someone’s spelling – no need to take that and run off into la-la land.
I worked Habitat houses one summer in rural south Georgia and Carter was there for part of the build. The accent of the folks we were working with made Jimmy come out either “Jammy” or “Jimmune” (Gem un).
Carter is a much better spokes face for Habitat that he ever was a president. A very smart guy who couldn’t see the first for the trees (typical for nuke bubble head officers). Rather than setting the agenda and getting out of the way, he rapidly became bogged down in the minutia and he will always be in the list of “worst presidents”, not because he was a bad guy, but because his administration was singularly the most ineffective in modern history.
“Rosalyn, Rosalyn! Guess who is NOT the worst President in modern history?”
He said that during Bush II.
None of the appointed “czars” (past and present) are/were worth diddly-shit…..
Remember when the word “Czar” was something we made fun of in the US prior to the 90’s?
Just like “5 year plans”….they used to be political joke fodder….now everyone “feels good” about such things.
The “5 year plans” and the “special purpose” czar types have all been inventions of the left … ignoring the facts that both scenarios have been tried so many times in the past … and failed miserably in the past: consider the Soviet Union where Central Planning five year plans have hosed-up so many lives and countries.
Now we have a “special purpose” “medical” czar who is and has been his entire political life, little more than a bag man for the “progressive” Fascist mobs.
This guy will be a spin machine.

“Ayatollah of Ebola” was the best in my 1 min ADD scan.
That’s right, I’m too busy right now to handle this right now.
Plus we discussed that those working around Joe Biden are best to put on this front and center,as they have experience in handling PR disasters.
Obola’s doing something. I feel so comforted and secure…………………….NOT!
The way Obola is handling Ebola, we can expect 10s of thousands of unnecessary deaths in the USA in the coming months. You don’t stop it or slow it down by going just to the source like he thinks is the only solution. And that is no solution when there is no vaccine available for it – and we don’t even know if the one being developed will even work. Our most serious problem is Obola allowing carriers of the virus to waltz right into the USA and spread it amongst us.
Obola’s stupidity and ignorance is set to cause a pandemic in the USA. African nations have said, you close your borders to it in order to save lives.
.
Putting a non medical person in charge of this crisis is a pathetic and serious lack of sound judgment. Obola doesn’t know what the fuck he is doing. But mostly it seems to be, that he doesn’t really give a crap.
We already have doctors from the CDC and a couple from the NIH…how many more do you think are needed?
I think we would be better off with a Surgeon General in charge, but Republicans obstructed…as usual.
“…We already have doctors from the CDC and a couple from the NIH…how many more do you think are needed?
How about just one competent doctor who is more worried about fixing the problem than politics?
“…We would be better off with a Surgeon General in charge, but Republicans obstructed…as usual….”
Mostly because the president nominated an incompetent, hard core, left wing political hack rather than just promoting the highly competent deputy and now acting Surgeon General Rear Admiral Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., M.P.H
Yeah that loon Obama nominated thinks the 2nd is a health issue. He has given voice to the repeal of it. He will never get the job.
“Mostly because the president nominated an incompetent, hard core, left wing political hack . . .”
He could have nominated God and the damn Republicans would have said no.
He could have nominated God and the damn Republicans would have said no.
That’s a negative, Ghostrider. It’s the DEMOCRATS that want to keep GOD out of GOVERNMENT!!!!
*smiles*
Your choice sounds like a Rusky to me.
Is your pick a career guy who will lose his job with the next president and he wants to stay where he is?
What is wrong with compiling numbers about gun related deaths? What scares people so much about cold, hard numbers and facts?
Mostly because compiling stats and facts about gun violence is the responsibility of the FBI and they do it quite well. If the CDCP had stayed focused on diseases rather than bike paths, lesbian body fat assessments, dietary programs and all kinds of “feel good liberal inanity” they might have been prepared to deal with the current unpleasantness. The CDCP was one one of the most respected non political gubamint agencies in existence, they’re a laughing stock now and frankly it isn’t funny.
If you read Radley Balko’s Libertarian blog “The Watch” at the Washington Post, you would know that the FBI can’t keep reliable numbers on any kind of crime because local cops and coroners can’t.
If you know many local cops and coroners, you surely must know understandable that is.
Our own recent SCLAC report on child fatalities showed what a farce that can be.
Mr. Obama attempted to appont a person who would the fourth amendment, the fifth amendment, the second amendment and the first amendment “health issues.”
“Mr. Obama attempted to appont a person who . . .”
Huh?
Huh?
They “would the fourth amendment, the fifth amendment, the second amendment and the first amendment ‘health issues.’ ”
Duh! : )
If TBG was in charge…you can bet TBG would appont a person who would NOT the fourth amendment, the fifth amendment, the second amendment and the first amendment “health issues.”
LOL+++
You admit that we’d be better off with a doctor in charge, but blame Republicans when Obama doesn’t pick a doctor to be in charge.
Hey Nikki Haley is going to hold a “round table” on Ebola next week.
I feel safer already!
Yeah, I always feel better when an un-licenseable accountant holds a ’round table’ about communicable diseases, particularly with her trial lawyer DHEC chief in attendance.
Kind of like the “no health care experience or training at all”, lobbyist, lawyer the president just appointed to be the Ebola Czar ain’t it?
Gotta have a strong arm to keep the bureaucrats inline, don’t need whistle blowers like we had in the VA.
At least Obama has the MD chiefs at NIH and the CDC to give him medical advice.
Who does Trikki have at the SC Dept. of HEALTH and Environmental Control except that grandstanding bleached blonde trial lawyer?
Nice non- sequitur subject change!
Are you talking to/about ‘ReElect Nikki’ or yourself?
Devastating.
Ohaley scares the HELL out of me! She is South Carolina’s’ Obummer!
The ebola czar is the clown who advised the President to invest our money in Solendra!. Doess that make you feel better?
If that’s the case he’s already got his cut and we don’t need to pay him.
This guy is there to hand out money to all the usual suspects, the “community organizations” to do training and awareness and to have “con-vuh-say-shuns” in the “underserved communities” about ebola. And “outreach,” don’t forget “outreach.”
So, most of it will just be pissed away to Democrat supporters with no results to show for it.
I wish he had named the Surgeon General nominee that the NRA blackballed.
I would have loved to see the GOPers drop like flies with apoplexy.
Mr. Obama attempted to appont a person who would the fourth amendment, the fifth amendment, the second amendment and the first amendment “health issues.”
Yes, Miranda, due process, bail, jury trials all affect health. But shredding the bill of rights is not a “health issue.”
Do you need to do a little editing to make your comment make even a sliver of sense?
Specifically, a person who would ‘what’ the fourth amendment…?
But, if you are concerned about illegal search and seizure, you need to worry more about your local law enforcement and their money making schemes involving civil seizures.
When you spend five hours painting inside a closet sometimes a good idea to open the door and let some fresh air into the closet, otherwise you get posts like Sarahs.
Would’ve been a smart move imo.
By appointing a political hacktavist, Mr. Obama disappointingly reveals his unseriousness and indifference to the magnitude of this disease. I should be shocked but I am not.
He was played by Kevin Spacey in “Recount.” I think we’d be better off with Spacey in this job.
Obola is a toxic President
And while Republicans push forward with their efforts to use Ebola to panic the public prior to an election, the twenty-one days since Thomas Duncan was placed into quarantine quietly passes. Now everyone who came in contact with him prior to his arrival at the Dallas Hospital are outside the accepted incubation period for Ebola. That means everyone who traveled on the plane with him, and everyone he came into contact with at the airport, and everyone he came into contact with after his arrival. To date not one person outside of the hospital has contracted the disease. If there are no new cases of Ebola resulting from the flight of the Nurse, within 21 days of that flight, the “Texas” crisis will be nearing an end. Most likely ending with a whimper not a bang.
To date not one person who contracted Ebola in the US or Europe has died. The CDC said they could stop the virus in Dallas. Unless something manifests in the next few days, it appears they were right.
Does this end the Ebola problem? No, but the problem is in Africa. We need to fight it there before it mutates, if we want to stop it from coming here. Just blocking flights from Africa will not protect us, just like pulling in the drawbridges of castles during the black plague did not help.
(thinks opening castles up during black plague would’ve helped anything)
It might have. When the nobles pulled up their draw bridges they took the food and what medical knowledge they had in with them. They left the peasants to both fight the disease and starve. Weakened from lack of food, they succumbed to the disease more quickly, and many people who may have had immunity died of starvation, and unsanitary conditions. The nobles should have been helping the peasants fight the disease, with the best knowledge available.
