ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER BAD RANKING …
By FITSNEWS || South Carolina ranks among the worst states in America to live, according to a recent study from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Making matters worse? The OECD report found U.S. states generally did not fare as well as similar regions in other countries on key quality of life measures – despite ranking in the top 20 percent on incomes.
So in other words we’re falling behind in a country that itself is falling behind the rest of the world …
“With the exception of Hawaii, none of the American states are in the top 20 percent for health or for safety across the OECD regions,” the author of the report told Yahoo! News.
So … where does the Palmetto State rank? No. 44 … exactly where it stood on the latest income rankings. Below us? The usual suspects … including Mississippi and West Virginia.
“South Carolina residents earned considerably less than other Americans. Households had $25,055 in disposable income per capita last year, among the lowest income levels nationwide,” the report noted. “South Carolina residents were far more likely to live in poverty than most Americans. While 15.8 percent of Americans lived in poverty in 2013, 18.6 percent did so in South Carolina, more than in all but a handful of other states.”
Say it with us, everybody … “it’s a great day in South Carolina!”
Or at least it will be as soon as “Jobs Governor” Nikki Haley tinkers with the numbers …

I guess it depends on what you mean by quality of life. Kind of subjective. Generally I love it here. Politics and politicians are the same the world over.

Many of those rich well to do areas, people are fleeing them to escape high taxes and to find jobs. Where are they coming? Look at the blue sign in the photo above.
And where exactly are they finding those jobs? Maybe many of those people are retiring here and don’t need jobs.
You mean rich areas like WV, Kentucky, eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania? That’s where working age people are coming from to find jobs in SC. Mainly, along the coast. The pay might not be any better, but it’s more fun being at the beach.
Without retirees moving to the coast, the results would have been even lower. Actually, without the coast, SC would have nearly zero appeal.

I’ve lived in a total of 5 states, SC is by far the biggest shithole I’ve lived in and will be leaving once I hit retirement. The only good thing I have to say about the state is it has cheap gas.
