FEAR NOT,  PALMETTO STATE CITIZENS …

By FITSNEWS || Because the Ebola virus is all over the news (and according to some people, soon to be all over the country), South Carolina politicians are tripping over themselves to appear as though they are doing something about the problem.

Take S.C. Senate “majority” leader Harvey Peeler – who has convened a special meeting of the Senate’s medical affairs committed to “address concerns about Ebola and relay any questions the public might have.”

“The purpose of this meeting is to determine if South Carolina is prepared to combat this disease and if our hospitals can manage it,” a release from Peeler’s committee states.

Um, actually the purpose of this meeting is to get Peeler’s name and face in the news, which … wait a minute … damn it.  We just ran his name and picture as part of this news story, didn’t we?

Well-played, Senator Peeler. Well-played …

Anyway, appearing at Peeler’s “Ebolapalooza” will be S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) director Catherine Templeton and also Thornton Kirby, president and CEO of the S.C. Hospitals Association.

The hearing will take place at 2:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 9.

This is probably a good idea given the Obama admin and the CDC still hasn’t blocked people flying out of Liberia and Sierra Leone from entering the US like Nigeria did after it had its first case.

Bingo! It’s almost as laughable sending in troops to fight it.

I’ve got an idea for them, make “Ebola” illegal!

Passing a law to make Ebola illegal will fix things.

The problem is those people catch connecting flights out of London, Paris, and Belgium. Direct flights from Liberia to here? Yea right. Does not happen.

Reply
Jackie Chiles October 7, 2014 at 8:24 pm

If you say people can’t fly to the U.S. flying out of Liberia, other Western nations won’t allow their entry into their country. They don’t want a horde of Liberians sitting in their airports unable to connect to their end destination.

Reply
Thomas October 7, 2014 at 8:46 pm

Only two flights a day leaves Liberia’s Roberts International Airport. They fly to other African nations connecting to flights to Europe then connecting to flights to the US. Europe will have to slam the door shut. Will they? Can we tell them what to do? No.

Jackie Chiles October 7, 2014 at 8:53 pm

Nigeria and South Africa are denying entry to flights and people from Liberia and Sierra Leone, but you’re telling me that the US somehow can’t?

Thomas October 7, 2014 at 9:18 pm

From their arguments, it is economically impossible to ban flights from Brussels, Paris, or London. Stopping flights in Africa may be feasible without an economic impact. However, stopping people infected but not showing symptoms from seeking Western treatment or not knowing they are infected from traveling is impossible. And many of those people already connected with flights out of Africa, out of Europe, and the people they infected are here already in the US and elsewhere.

Jackie Chiles October 7, 2014 at 10:26 pm

The point is, if the US said “nobody is flying in who origination country was Liberia or Sierra Leone, then there would be nobody from Liberia flying to Brussels. First, their destination isn’t the Brussels airport, it’s the US. If they can’t go to the US, then they won’t waste money on a flight to somewhere they didn’t want to go. Secondly, Brussels and Paris (British Airways no longer flies from Liberia) will not accept people from Liberia without a destination country.

Just because we may already have some infected people here doesn’t mean we should wash our hands and not let more over. If we didn’t allow flights over here, like South Africa, 100% of current US ebola cases would be eliminated. South Africa=0 cases. US=1+ cases. It’s not that complicated.

Thomas October 7, 2014 at 11:32 pm

We are talking Liberia. They do not have above or underground storage capacity for 6 different jet fuels. The best they can do is fuel up for short hops to like Ghana, Sierra Leone, South Africa. Liberia does not have jumbo jets taking off every 10 minutes. Look at their airport departures. All two of them. Blocking two flights daily will not prevent people going to another airport or getting on a ship. Those who do fly out of Liberia must eventually connect with carriers who do have the capacity to fly over the ocean. South Africa, Paris, London, Brussels are the primary airports ALL people must fly out of non stop to the US. South Africa will fly you to South America to catch flights to the US. Non stop service over the Atlantic takes lots of fuel and big jets that Liberia is not suited for. Comprende? Shutting down air traffic from those airports will harm commerce. Stopping people from flying out of Liberia will not stop Liberians from flying out of Ghana or Nigeria. The most realistic approach is to deny Liberian passports from flying out of any airport. The best the US can do legally is not allow Liberian pass ports from getting on flights to the US. The same tactic applies to France, Belgium, South Africa, England when they make their own decisions.

Jackie Chiles October 8, 2014 at 8:49 am

The idea that we should throw our hands up because “eventually someone will come over with it” is ludicrous. The fact is, US denial of entry of people with Liberian passports or people flying out of Liberian airports would have absolutely prevented 100% of Ebola cases in the US.

Ebola can only spread in the US if we let it. Sure, maybe one or two people may sneak over, but their exposure to US citizens will be limited to maybe a hundred people. If hundreds of people fly over, potentially infecting hundreds or thousands of US citizens, then we will have a problem. This disease increases exponentially. A smaller starting point means it’s easier to contain. This is just basic common sense.

CorruptionInColumbia October 8, 2014 at 4:31 am

You are absolutely correct, Jackie! Unfortunately, I really believe the game plan is to get it here and let it spread. This goes hand-in-glove with the NWO doctrine and goal of population reduction.

CorruptionInColumbia October 8, 2014 at 4:27 am

A good friend has occasion to travel to the Atlanta airport on business, regularly. A couple of weeks ago, we were discussing this situation and they noted seeing the Liberian (whatever airline they use in Liberia) planes on the Tarmac there and also the signs showing arriving flights from Liberia. Whether they are arriving directly from Liberia or not, the planes ARE getting here and any infected persons or the plane itself have potential to bring it to us.

But more a need to feel important while having cameras pointed at them and small compact mp3 audio recorders shoved in their faces. Whats that old saying?? Oh yeah … “Action Speaks Louder Than Words.” But what are they going to do? Form another committee to talk – and talk – and talk some more.? Of course. Meanwhile, nothing changes. It all remains the same, and they go home feeling like they have done something to save the planet.

What did fits say a while back, he and Harvey chased women together? And, the State budget could be balanced if the State had a dime for all of the women Harvey had hit on?
Southmauldin is also correct, his “pissant” adulteress brother Bob will probably also be present, trying to pick up another married woman and bring more human waste into SC. The peelers never failed to turn everything they touched into a cesspool.

TB outbreak was negligence October 7, 2014 at 8:10 pm

Good point! We now know how they’ll handle it.

If an outbreak hits, they’ll keep it to themselves and run tests to make sure it’s Ebola. A couple weeks later, after the preliminary tests come back positive, they run some more thorough tests that take a month more to confirm…and THEN tell everyone what’s going on, after it’s spread around a bit more.
