MARK SANFORD SHARES STAGE WITH POTENTIAL CHALLENGER
By FITSNEWS || U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford is scheduled to address an establishment “Republican” gathering in Charleston, S.C. this week – an event hosted by GOP gadfly Mallory Factor.
The former South Carolina governor’s appearance at Factor’s “Charleston Meeting” on Monday evening is his first big political speech since announcing his breakup with ex-fiancee Maria Belen Chapur via a nauseatingly introspective Facebook tome.
The fallout from Sanford’s lengthy, narcissistic post was swift … and universally unkind.
It’s also raised doubts about his political future – especially in the event he were challenged by a woman with gravitas.
“A halfway credible female candidate would crush him,” one veteran Lowcountry political operative told FITS, referring to Sanford’s next congressional election (the “Luv Gov” is unopposed this November).
Funny … it just so happens a credible potential female candidate, S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) director Catherine Templeton will be sharing the stage with Sanford at Factor’s “Charleston Meeting.”
In fact we’re told Templeton – whose political prospects we profiled in this piece – will address the gathering immediately following Sanford’s remarks.
Hmmmm …
This website was initially brutal in its treatment of Templeton, who first appeared on our radar as director of the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (SCLLR). Seriously … brutal. We also opposed Templeton’s ascension to SCDHEC, the largest agency in state government.
Templeton has won us over, though – impressing us with her commitment to cut, not expand, the SCDHEC bureaucracy.
We’re also more than a little enamored with her “guns.”
So far Templeton has given no indication that she is interested in running for Sanford’s seat – or any elected office, for that matter. Sources close to the outspoken 43-year-old tell FITS she plays “everything close to the vest” – and that she has a “constituency of one” when it comes to such decisions (referring to her husband, Charleston, S.C. attorney Morgan Templeton).
We’re also told Templeton – who made a name for herself as a union-busting attorney – doesn’t “fit neatly into a partisan box,” which as far as we’re concerned is a good thing given the ideological bankruptcy of both major political parties here in South Carolina (and beyond).

The woman doesn’t know jack shit about protecting the state’s environment or public health.
But that does not stop dumbshits in South Carolina from electing (or praising) for that matter masters of bullshit and smoke and mirrors.
Examples: Queen Namrata,Mark “Shirker” Sanfraud, “Lightbulb” Lee Bright, and Templeton (to name just a few)
So you’d rather have Mark instead of her?
Can I have who is behind door number 3?
We need fewer Mark Sanfords, Nikki Haleys, Richard Eckstroms, Harvey/Bob Peelers, larry martins, Hugh Leathermans, Yancy Mcgills, Bobby Harrells, Ken Ards!
We need more Carol Campbells, Dick Rileys, Brantley Harveys, John Wests, and Bob Mcnairs!!
“fit neatly into a partisan box,” which means she is a Big Ole D just like us here at Fits.
She is pro-abortion and gay marriage like Elizabeth Colbert Bush. Zero chance.
I’d still lick her fine ass.
Something tells me you’ll never get that chance.
What if he shows up with some Courvoisier and a Barry White CD?
She voted for Sheheen.
Could it be that the only reason Sanford is attending is to make a move (hit on) the lovely Ms. Templeton?
Jenny…Nikki…Maria…Mark very obviously has a thing for brunettes who could pass for sisters.
A cheap wig and he’s back in nirvana1
Can folks bring their own ripe tomatoes to these poli-fests? Looks like at least two targets for the price of one admission.
Exactly what unions did she bust in SC?
It never ceases to amaze me how gullible the public is to this claim.
You said it well: “What unions?”
The “obsession” with the power of “Unions” in SC is actually irrational.
As is pointed out here, the Union movement in SC has been and is now almost moribund, yet such is a favorite target of Republicans in this state.
The Republicans in state fear Unions for two reasons:
#1 They know most belonging to them vote Dem.
#2 They believe the anti-Union stance makes SC more attractive to businesses, ergo jobs & taxes. (they might be right)
So I don’t think they stop pounding on the concept of Unions any time soon, because they don’t believe in free markets aside from the points above.
Disappointed again! I thought this “SC-1 showdown” was an update on his mediation with Jenny… or a cat fight between Chapur and the Georgia gal….
Is there more story about the Ga lady or was that planted to throw everybody off?
With Sanford, where there is smoke, the fire follows. At this point Sanford has garnered the rightful anger of at least 3 women, in a very public way. All in pursuit of his happiness as an NPD. He will be lambasted for it because he is a Republican. But the left should instead pity him for his mental health issues…one of their sacred cows?
Just saw the pictures of Mark Sanford and boy he looks like he has aged a lot. Must be things are not running smoothly with Jenny, or he misses his paramour and or the Ga lady does not want have anything to do with him. Poor guy, it is not an easy life if three women are all angry with him at the same time.
He is irked by anyone or anything that takes him off his path to greatness. He’s got a lot of obstacles, he being the biggest one, to his throne.
mere Amateurs, wait for the one between Donna and Julie!
Catherine Templeton made renewing your professional license at LLR so easy that when I was finished I thought I must have done something wrong. I believe she could’ve designed a healthcare.gov site that actually worked.
Excuse me, but what the fuck is a “gadfly”? And does “gadfly” trump “socialite”?
I was under the assumption that a “gadfly” is a low rent socialite.

There you go…keep raising her on up. Build that pedestal as high as you can build it! This is because once she joins the class of full-blown and full-time political, then it will only be a matter of time before she comes crashing down (and you’ll be swinging the axe as well).
Some people never learn.
Really helped Ravenel.
Took the words right out of my mouth!!! Nicely played, suh; nicely played.
Makes it hard to decide if one would rather be shamelessly boosted or pilloried by this site.
So, I gather that her two claims to fame are UNION busting in South Carolina, where no unions exist, and being a drunk(as alleged numerous times on this blog).
Perfect qualifications!
YOU BETCHA!

Stop by the American Party booth, Hampton building, SC State Fair and sign the much needed recall election petition!
it is time for the people to have more of a voice!
She’s already dropping money to FITS to start floating her name as a possible candidate 2 years prior to the election – and by recent article here – even before then. Oh yeah, she’s playin’ it REAL close to the chest. Ouuuu maybe a uber transparent “draft part time Templeton for a part time party line” congressional job website? I can see it now.
